We consider a resource management problem in which the management objective is to minimize fluctuations in resource stocks. Stabilizing management policies constitute the designing of memoryless state feedback control strategies for a discrete time resource model which contains unknown but bounded fluctuations. Feedback interferometers are described with specific reference to potential applications in micro-machines. A theoretical analysis is developed to determine the linearity, stability, and noise performance of this type of interferometer. The theoretical analysis was tested using a prototype high-precision feedback interferometer which showed that, at a feedback loop gain which enabled the system to track 6 fringes, the linearity of the interferometer was better than λ/100 and single phase measurements could be made with an accuracy of λ/80. 相似文献

This note is concerned with the regularity of solutions of algebraic Riccati equations arising from infinite dimensional LQR control problems. We show that distributed parameter systems described by certain parabolic partial differential equations often have a special structure that smooths solutions of the corresponding Riccati equation. This analysis is motivated by the need to find specific representations for Riccati operators that can be used in the development of computational schemes for problems where the input and output operators are not Hilbert-Schmidt. This situation occurs in many boundary control problems and in certain distributed control problems associated with optimal sensor/actuator placement. 相似文献

In this paper, a relay-controlled plant, possessing one positive real pole and one negative real pole, is studied. First, a regulating system is considered; we investigate the design of the controller for simultaneous reduction of error and error derivative to zero. It is seen that this can be achieved provided the initial values of error and error derivative fall inside an admissible (or controllable) region. Attention is then focused on the tracking system. It is shown that, provided the input to the system is of a form similar to the impulse response of the plant, and provided the initial values of error and error derivative of the system fall inside the same admissible region, then the controller used for regulating the system can also be used for tracking the system so as to force the output of the plant to follow the input perfectly; in both cases with at mostone switching reversal of the relay. 相似文献

In this paper we analyze a locking-free numerical scheme for the LQR control of a Timoshenko beam. We consider a non-conforming finite element discretization of the system dynamics and a control law constant in the spatial dimension. To solve the LQR problem we seek a feedback control which depends on the solution of an algebraic Riccati equation. An optimal error estimate for the feedback operator is proved in the framework of the approximation theory for control of infinite dimensional systems. This estimate is valid with constants that do not depend on the thickness of the beam, which leads to the conclusion that the method is locking-free. Given an excess demand function of an economy, say Z(p), a stable price adjustment mechanism (SPAM) guarantees convergence of solution path p(t,p0) to an equilibrium peq solution of Z(p)=0. Besides, all equilibrium points of Z(p) are asymptotically stable. Some SPAMs have been proposed, including Newton and transpose Jacobian methods. Despite this powerful stability property of SPAMs, their acceptation in the economics community has been limited by a lack of interpretation. This paper focuses on this issue. Specifically, feedback control theory is used to link SPAMs and price dynamics models with control inputs, which match the economically intuitive Walrasian Hypothesis (i.e., prices change with excess demand sign). Under mild conditions, it is shown the existence of a feedback function that transforms the price dynamics into a desired SPAM. Hence, a SPAM is interpreted as a fundamental (e.g., Walrasian) price dynamics under the action of a feedback function aimed to stabilize the equilibrium set of the excess demand function. 相似文献

The enzymatic activity of diaphorase (Dp) immobilized on a solid substrate was characterized using a scanning electrochemical microscope (SECM) with shear force feedback to control the substrate-probe distance. The shear force between the substrate and the probe was monitored with a tuning fork-type quartz crystal and used as the feedback control to set the microelectrode probe close to the substrate surface. The sensitivity and the contrast of the SECM image were improved in the constant distance mode (distance, 50 nm) with the shear force feedback compared to the image in the constant height mode without the feedback. By using this system, the SECM and topographic images of the immobilized diaphorase were simultaneously measured. The microelectrode tip used in this study was ground aslant like a syringe needle in order to obtain the shaper topographic images. This shape was also effective for avoiding the interference during the diffusion of the enzyme substrates. 相似文献
