Modelling inventories in a network

If each inventory in a supply chain, comprising a network of production and transportation facilities, is optimized separately by some EOQ formula, the overall result may be far from optimal. If the objective of inventories is to reduce the variability of production and delivery rates, then this can be modelled as a network system with feedback links. The propagation of demands through the network is described by certain “propagation vectors”, and the optimization is with respect to certain feedback factors.

Analysis and optimization of coupling to external cavities in feedback experiments with vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers

The feedback strength is a crucial parameter for feedback experiments using semiconductor lasers. In this article, the coupling efficiency of the field of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) to external cavities containing one collimating lens has been analyzed in detail using ABCD-matrix methods. It is found that for a given set of parameters there are two distinct, experimentally realizable positions of the collimating lens which allow for optimal coupling, if the cavity length is sufficiently small. The predictions are verified in experiments using single-transverse-mode VCSELs. The obtained coupling efficiencies exceed 70%.     

LiNbO3无谐振腔式电光调制混合型光学双稳态实现条件的研究

本文简介以LiNbO₃为非线性介质,利用电光振幅调制特性实现了LiNbO₃晶体混合型光学双稳态,并在不同的条件下测试了不同的光学双稳态滞后回线和调制函数曲线,首次提出“调制函数曲线平移”问题的方法。用此一性质可将偏置电压调制为零省去偏置系统,利于系统集成,为实现无偏压双稳系统指明了方向。     

Plasma Feedback Control System for HL-2A Tokamak

As the limit of time and budget etc, the control system of HL-2A just could be operated in programmed discharge when HL-2A was checked and accepted in 2002. Recent years, many subsystem of HL-2A have been improved in functions and performances. And the demand for experiment of HL-2A is becoming more and more higher in plasma discharge parameters. So it＇s necessary to develop a plasma feedback control system （ FBCS ） which has enough functions and good stability and reliability to satisfy the demand of experiment on HL-2A.     

线性反馈抑制螺旋波

研究了激发介质FitzhughNagumo方程中螺旋波的控制问题.基于稳定性和自适应理论,对系统格点变量进行采样,将采样变量与外界标准的周期信号和稳定信号进行线性作差,进一步将误差线性反馈到系统(局部反馈和全局反馈)中,当系统达到稳定均匀态,控制器自动关闭.并研究了噪声对该方法的影响.数值计算表明,选择不同的控制区域和外部标准信号,可将螺旋波抑制,系统很快达到均匀态,螺旋波转化成靶波或者形成新的斑图,控制器对噪声有一定鲁棒性.     

Dynamic modeling of thickness-mode piezoelectric transducer using the block diagram approach

This paper aims to provide an alternative method to determine the characteristics of a piezoelectric transducer from measurement. A block diagram approach is proposed to analyze the dynamic characteristics of a thickness-mode piezoelectric transducer at its resonance frequency. Based on the feedback loop framework, the input-output relations of the electromechanical interaction of the transducer are described in terms of linear block diagram models. Furthermore, the closed-loop relations from external force to vibration velocity and electric current from generated voltage are easily found by Mason’s rule to characterize the equivalent mechanical admittance and electrical impedance, respectively. An example of a Langevin transducer with 28.15 kHz resonance frequency is illustrated for dynamics analysis. The frequency responses of the piezoelectric transducer, resulting from a force and current input, are respectively measured to identify the system parameters of the feedback model. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Combinatorics on update digraphs in Boolean networks

Boolean networks have been used as models of gene regulation and other biological networks. One key element in these models is the update schedule, which indicates the order in which states have to be updated. In Aracena et al. (2009) [1], the authors define equivalence classes that relate deterministic update schedules that yield the same update digraph and thus the same dynamical behavior of the network. In this paper we study algorithmical and combinatorial aspects of update digraphs. We show a polynomial characterization of these digraphs, which enables us to characterize the corresponding equivalence classes. We prove that the update digraphs are exactly the projections, on the respective subgraphs, of a complete update digraph with the same number of vertices. Finally, the exact number of complete update digraphs is determined, which provides upper and lower bounds on the number of equivalence classes.
