Installation and cosmic ray test of the high voltage system of the BESⅢ drift chamber

After examination of the designed high voltage power supply system of the BESⅢ drift chamber in the beam test of the full length prototype of drift chamber, a full system covering all the channels of high voltage was installed. The system's training and the high voltage value adjustment were carried out in the cosmic ray test of the BESⅢ drift chamber. The cosmic ray test for the full system and its final installation on the BESⅢ drift chamber were reported. The full system of high voltage power supply works stably and reliably.     

两个不同单元尺寸的小单元漂移室模型的性能研究

利用宇宙线分别测量了两个单元尺寸为14mm和16.4mm充He/C3H8(60/40)气体的小单元漂移室模型的性能，包括空间分辨，dE/dx分辨和单元效率. 测量结果表明两个漂移室模型的性能没有明显区别.     

Tuning of the cosmic-ray test system of the BESⅢ drift chamber

The BESⅢ drift chamber and its subsystems need a cosmic-ray test after the chamber construction to check the chamber construction quality,testing the joint operation of the whole system and the performance of the chamber.The noise performance,drift time and charge measurements,and the scanning of channels were examined specifically.The preliminary results of the test indicate that the whole system works well.     

A large-area GEM detector using a novel self-stretching technique

A Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) detector with an effective area of 300 mm×300 mm has been constructed using a novel self-stretching technique, which allows a highly flexible and efficient GEM detector assembly free of glue or spacers. This makes the re-opening and repair of the GEM detectors possible and significantly reduces the scrap rate in the mass production of large-area GEM detectors. With the technique, the assembly time can be limited to a few hours, a factor of ten improvement compared to that using gluing techniques. The details of design and assembly procedure of the 300 mm×300 mm GEM detector are described in this paper. This detector was tested with 8 keV X-rays for the effective gain, energy resolution and performance uniformity. The results show that the typical energy resolution is 20% at an effective gain of about 10^4, with fairly good uniformity.

利用宇宙线分别研究了一个小单元漂移室在He/C3H8(60/40)和He/CH4(60/40)两种氦基混合气下的性能.作为比较还测试了在Ar/CO2/CH4(89/10/1)混合气下的性能.研究表明上述氦基混合气的空间分辨和dE/dx分辨好于Ar/CO2/CH4(89/10/1)混合气.使用He/C8H8(60/40)可以获得110μm的空间分辨,在30—40次取样下dE/dx分辨可以达到6%—7%.     

He/C3H8(60/40)气体增益的实验研究

利用正比计数管测量了氦基混合气体He/C3H8(60/40)在55Fe 5.9keV X射线下的气体增益，并对气体增益随高压、温度、气压及气体比分的变化作了研究. 作为比较还对He/CH4(60/40)及Ar/CO2/CH4(89/10/1)混合气体进行了相应的测量.     

Precision Higgs physics at the CEPC

The discovery of the Higgs boson with its mass around 125 GeV by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations marked the beginning of a new era in high energy physics.The Higgs boson will be the subject of extensive studies of the ongoing LHC program.At the same time,lepton collider based Higgs factories have been proposed as a possible next step beyond the LHC,with its main goal to precisely measure the properties of the Higgs boson and probe potential new physics associated with the Higgs boson.The Circular Electron Positron Collider(CEPC)is one of such proposed Higgs factories.The CEPC is an e~+e~- circular collider proposed by and to be hosted in China.Located in a tunnel of approximately 100 km in circumference,it will operate at a center-of-mass energy of 240 GeV as the Higgs factory.In this paper,we present the first estimates on the precision of the Higgs boson property measurements achievable at the CEPC and discuss implications of these measurements.     

A study of the calibration of wire positions for the BESⅢ drift chamber using physics data without magnetic field

A method to determine precisely three-dimensional wire positions in the BESⅢ drift chamber using physics events is introduced. In part the proposed technique takes advantage of the possibility that the magnetic field can be turned off, thereby providing a huge sample of straight tracks for which effects due to multiple scattering, energy loss and non-uniformity of the magnetic field are minimized during the calibration process. A toy Monte Carlo study is performed to demonstrate the viability of the method. As a result of the calibration process, the rms of the distribution of wire position deviation is reduced from 35μm to 10μm.
