In this paper, infinitesimal deformations of time-like surfaces are investigated in Minkowski 3-space R^2,1. It is shown that some given deformations of the time-like surface can be described by 2 1 dimensional integrable systems. We deal with solitons of the mean curvature flow. The definition of translating solitons on a light-like direction in Minkowski 3-space is introduced. Firstly, we classify those which are graphical, translation surfaces, obtaining space-like and time-like, entire and not entire, complete and incomplete examples. Among them, all our time-like examples are incomplete. The second family consists of those which are invariant by a 1-dimensional subgroup of parabolic motions, i.e., with light-like axis. The classification result implies that all examples of this second family have singularities.  相似文献

We describe discrete maximal surfaces with singularities in 3-dimensional Minkowski space and give a Weierstrass type representation for them. In the smooth case, maximal surfaces (spacelike surfaces with mean curvature identically 0) in Minkowski 3-space generally have certain singularities. We give a criterion that naturally describes the “singular set” for discrete maximal surfaces, including a classification of the various types of singularities that are possible in the discrete case.  相似文献

We show that the singularities of spacelike maximal surfaces in Lorentz–Minkowski 3-space generically consist of cuspidal edges, swallowtails and cuspidal cross caps. The same result holds for spacelike mean curvature one surfaces in de Sitter 3-space. To prove these, we shall give a simple criterion for a given singular point on a surface to be a cuspidal cross cap. Dedicated to Yusuke Sakane on the occasion of his 60th birthday.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of classical solutions of reducible quasilinear hyperbolic systems with characteristic boundaries. Under some suitable assumptions, we prove that the solution approaches a combination of Lipschitz continuous and piecewise C1 traveling wave solution. As an application, we apply the result to the equation for time-like extremal surfaces in the Minkowski space-time R1+(1+n).  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the problem of constructing a surface pencil from a given spacelie (timelike) line of curvature. Using the Frenet frame of the given line of curvature in Minkowski 3-space, we express the surface pencil as a linear combination of this frame and derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the coefficients to satisfy the line of curvature requirement. We illustrate this method by presenting some examples.  相似文献
