At the redox-active center of thioredoxin reductase (TrxR), a selenenyl sulfide (Se−S) bond is formed between Cys497 and Sec498, which is activated into the thiolselenolate state ([SH,Se−]) by reacting with a nearby dithiol motif ([SHCys59,SHCys64]) present in the other subunit. This process is achieved through two reversible steps: an attack of a cysteinyl thiol of Cys59 at the Se atom of the Se−S bond and a subsequent attack of a remaining thiol at the S atom of the generated mixed Se−S intermediate. However, it is not clear how the kinetically unfavorable second step progresses smoothly in the catalytic cycle. A model study that used synthetic selenenyl sulfides, which mimic the active site structure of human TrxR comprising Cys497, Sec498, and His472, suggested that His472 can play a key role by forming a hydrogen bond with the Se atom of the mixed Se−S intermediate to facilitate the second step. In addition, the selenenyl sulfides exhibited a defensive ability against H2O2-induced oxidative stress in cultured cells, which suggests the possibility for medicinal applications to control the redox balance in cells. 相似文献

Chiral bis(imidazolidine)‐derived NCN–rhodium complexes ([PhBidine‐RhX2] and [tBu‐PhBidine‐RhX2]) were prepared by a C?H insertion method, and the structures were unequivocally determined by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. The [tBu‐PhBidine‐Rh(OAc)2] complex smoothly catalyzed an asymmetric Mannich reaction of malononitrile with N‐Boc imines to give products in up to 94 % ee, which are useful for the synthesis of chiral α‐amino acids. 相似文献

Complexation of some lanthanide ions with poly(methacrylic acid) and its copolymers was studied by potentiometric titration. Poly [methacrylic acid-co-oligo(ethylene oxide)methacrylate] and poly(methacrylic acid-co-acrylamide) formed tris-carboxylate coordinate lanthanide complexes with large overall complexation constants, while poly-(methacrylic acid)s and copolymer with higher content of the methacrylic acid residue formed bis-coordinate ones. It was concluded that the comonomer residues in the copolymer chains decreased the steric hindrance for the complexation and/or acted as co-coordinating groups of the carboxylic group to lanthanide ions. Very large positive and favorable entropy changes were observed for the complexation with poly(methacrylic acid) and its copolymers. This contribution of thermodynamic parameters to the complexation was contrary to that for the analogous monomeric methacrylic acid complex and is assumed to be induced by dehydration of the polymers through the lanthanide ion complexation. 相似文献

Dielectric and conductivity measurements have been carried out on styrene-methacrylic acid copolymers and their salts in the glass transition region, stressing the comparison of polymers neutralized to different extents. A simple monomer-dimer equilibrium between carboxylic acid groups is applicable to the pure acid polymers, which explains the increase of both the glass transition temperature and of the dielectric strength with concentration of methacrylic acid. The dielectric data indicate that very few sodium carboxylate groups can dissolve in the matrix of the pure salt, whereas the presence of carboxylic acid groups in partly neutralized polymers enhances the dissolution of the salt groups in the matrix. Considerable differences are observed between the partly neutralized polymer and the blend consisting of pure acid and pure salt copolymers, which suggests that exchange of cations between acid and salt groups is quite slow even at high temperatures. Multiphase flows are critical components of many physical systems; however, numerical models of multiphase flows with large parameter gradients can be challenging. Here, two different numerical methods, volume of fluid (VOF) and smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH), are used to model the buoyant rise of isolated gas bubbles through quiescent fluids for a range of Bond and Reynolds numbers. The VOF is an Eulerian grid–based method, whereas the SPH is Lagrangian and mesh free. Each method has unique strengths and weaknesses, and a comparison of the two approaches as applied to multiphase phenomena has not previously been performed. The VOF and SPH simulations are compared, verified, and validated. Results using two-dimensional VOF and SPH simulations are similar to each other and are able to reproduce numerical benchmarks and experimental results for sufficiently large Morton and Reynolds numbers. It is also shown that at low Reynolds numbers, the two methods, SPH and VOF, diverge in the transient regime of the bubble rise. Excited state intramolecular hydrogen atom transfer of phenylethynyl-substituted 2′-hydroxychalcones

(E)-1-[2-Hydroxy-4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]-3-[4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]prop-2-en-1-one (1), (E)-1-[2-hydroxy-4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-one (2), and (E)-1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3-[4-(phenylethynyl)phenyl]prop-2-en-1-one (3), which belong to a new class of 2′-hydroxychalcones with phenylethynyl group(s) at the para position of the phenyl ring, were synthesized, and their photochemical properties were investigated. The lowest energy absorption band of 1 peaks at a longer wavelength (383 nm) with a much larger molar extinction coefficient (5.0 × 104 M ?1 cm?1) than that of the parent 2′-hydroxychalcone (2′HC) (2.0 × 104 M ?1 cm?1 at 318 nm). Upon photoexcitation, all three compounds underwent excited-state intramolecular hydrogen atom transfer (ESIHT) to produce an excited tautomer that emitted fluorescence with a large Stokes shift in the longer wavelength region at 600–700 nm. The quantum yield of the tautomer fluorescence of 1 was not high at 298 K (Φ f = 9.1 × 10?5), but was highest among 2′HC and its analogues. The Φ f values of 1–3 increased 10–30 fold upon reducing the temperature from 298 to 77 K. 相似文献
