In this paper, an athermal silicon arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) with the assistance of a polymer-filled slot structure is proposed. Arrayed slot waveguides were used to replace arrayed silicon photonic wires (SPWs). By carefully controlling the temperature dependence of the effective index of the polymer-filled slot waveguides, the athermal silicon AWG is realized. Analysis shows that the center wavelength shift of the AWG can be down to 0.14 pm/°C.  相似文献

A symmetric plasmonic structure consisting of metal-insulator-metal waveguide, groove and slot cavities is studied, which supports double Fano resonances deriving from two different mechanisms. One of the Fano resonances originates from the interference between the resonances of groove and slot cavities, and the other comes from the interference between slot cavities. The spectral line shapes and the peaks of the double Fano resonances can be modulated by changing the length of the slot cavities and the height of the groove. Furthermore,the wavelength of the resonance peak has a linear relationship with the length of the slot cavities. The proposed plasmonic nanosensor possesses a sensitivity of 800 nm/RIU and a figure of merit of 3150, which may have important applications in switches, sensors, and nonlinear devices.  相似文献

A review is presented of state-of-the-art optical planar waveguide demultiplexers (DEMUXes), that is, phasars (arrayed waveguide) and etched grating devices designed for high-density (narrow channel spacing) wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems. Their advantages and disadvantages are discussed in comparison with other techniques for demultiplexing WDM signals. The advances made in their performance are reviewed, and ultimate limitations, set by technological constraints, are proposed. Finally, a comparison is made of the advantages and disadvantages of etched grating as opposed to phasar planar waveguide DEMUXes.  相似文献

从理论上和实验上研究了一种操作简单、响应速度快,价格低廉和高分辨率的基于阵列波导光栅(AWG)的准分布式光纤布拉格光栅(FBG)传感器.该传感系统采用了阵列波导光栅双通道强度解调技术对光纤光栅的布拉格波长和温度进行精确的解调.实验结果表明,该系统对宽带宽光纤光栅的布拉格波长和温度解调均具有高线性度,考虑系统稳定性及光纤布拉格光栅之间的串扰影响,波长测量精度仍可达2 pm,温度测量精度优于0.2℃.  相似文献

A structure based on photonic crystals for optical wavelength demultiplexing is proposed and analyzed. This structure consists of two coupled-cavity waveguides, each one tuned at a different frequency transmission band. A model based on the tight-binding method taken from solid-state physics is used to design the working frequencies of the waveguides. The demultiplexing behavior is demonstrated by means of simulations employing a finite-difference time-domain method. It is concluded that the demultiplexing mechanism presented here may be used as a building block in multifunctional lightwave integrated circuits based on photonic crystals.  相似文献

Analysis for fabrication errors of arrayed waveguide grating multiplexers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Based on the transmission theory, parameter optimization is performed, and effects of fabrication errors on transmission characteristics are analyzed for a 33×33 polymer arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer around the central wavelength of 1550.918 nm with the wavelength spacing of 0.8 nm. Simulated results show that fabrication errors result in the shift of the transmission spectrum, and lead to the increase of the crosstalk compared with the device theoretically designed. Furthermore, accumulation and compensation of fabrication errors are investigated. In order to realize the normal demultiplexing of the fabricated AWG device, the allowed fabrication errors are discussed.  相似文献

A compact and fabrication friendly polarization demultiplexer (P-DEMUX) is proposed and characterized to enable wavelength-division-multiplexing and polarization-division-multiplexing simultaneously. The proposed structure is composed of a polarization-selective microring resonator in ultrathin waveguide and two bus channels in the silicon nitride-silica-silicon horizontal slot waveguides. In the slot waveguide, the transverse electric (TE) mode propagates through the silicon layer, while the transverse magnetic (TM) mode is confined in the slot region. In the designed ultra-thin waveguide, the TM mode is cut-off. The effective indexes of the TE modes for ultrathin and slot waveguides have comparable values. Thanks for these distinguishing features, the input TE mode can be efficiently filtered through the ultra-thin microring at the resonant wavelength, while the TM mode can directly output from the through port. Simulation results show that the extinction ratio of the proposed P-DEMUX for TE and TM modes are 33.21 dB and 24.97 dB, and the insertion losses are 0.346 dB and 0.324 dB, respectively, at the wavelength of 1551.64 nm. Furthermore, the device shows a broad bandwidth ($>100$ nm) for an extinction ratio (ER) of $>20$ dB. In addition, the proposed P-DEMUX also has a good fabrication tolerance for the waveguide width variation of $-20$ nm$\le \Delta w_{\rm g}\le 20$ nm and the microring width variation of $-20$ nm$\le \Delta w_{\rm r}\le $20 nm for a low insertion loss of $<0.75$ dB and low ER of $<-18$ dB.  相似文献

设计并制作了一款应用于IEEE 200/400GbE标准802.3bs的阵列波导光栅.该阵列波导光栅使用2.0%的超高折射率差硅基二氧化硅材料,使得芯片尺寸及损耗较小.为了获得平坦化的接收光谱,将输出波导进行展宽,采用多模波导结构,激发若干个高阶模,数个模式叠加使得原本高斯状的光谱顶部产生平坦化,形成箱形接收光谱.设计的阵列波导光栅的中心波长为1 291.10nm,通道间隔为800GHz,芯片尺寸为11mm×4mm.经过等离子增强化学气相沉积和感应耦合等离子刻蚀工艺制备了芯片,测试结果表明最小的插入损耗为-3.3dB,相邻通道间串扰小于-20dB,单通道1dB带宽在2.12~3.06nm范围,实现了良好的解复用和平坦化效果,在实际光通信系统中有一定的实用价值.  相似文献

A stable dual-wavelength erbium-doped fiber ring laser with switchable spacing is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. An arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) incorporating two fiber optic switches (OS) is used to as the wavelength selector. The ring cavity is divided into two cavities by a 30:70 optical coupler. Equalized dual-wavelength outputs are achieved by controlling the variable optical attenuator (VOA) inserted in the lower loss cavity. The wavelength spacing can be tuned from 0.80 to 12.05 nm. The fiber laser has good optical quality with maximum power fluctuation of 1.5 dB and side mode suppression ratios (SMSRs) higher than 71 dB.  相似文献

扇形波导可作为高功率微波圆柱共形波导缝隙阵天线的基本单元。分析了扇形波导中主模场分量,根据实际情况对主模场进行了合理近似。采用互易定理推导由波导主模横向场分量和缝隙场分量表示的波导场分量的前向或后向散射系数。根据波导传输线理论,将波导宽边纵缝等效为并联导纳,再根据波导边界条件得到扇形波导宽边谐振纵缝的归一化电导与波导散射系数之间的关系式。根据缝隙天线与振子天线的互补关系得到扇形波导谐振缝隙的辐射阻抗,结合波导功率平衡关系得到由波导横向场散射系数表示的缝隙辐射功率表达式,得到归一化电导的与谐振宽边纵缝的偏移位置、缝隙宽度、波导波长以及扇形波导尺寸参数之间的解析表达式。给出了算例,在波导中间区域,通过商用软件计算得到的电导与理论公式结果基本吻合。  相似文献

研究了的一种新型温度不敏感型阵列波导光栅(AWG)。该新型温度不敏感型阵列波导光栅的波导采用混合材料的波导结构,该混合材料波导通过在石英波导芯层上旋涂聚合物材料的上包层,达到改变波导温度特性的目的,使得阵列波导光栅的温度敏感性降低。通过理论分析和有限差分方法研究了其中两种结构:三层混合材料波导构成的阵列波导光栅和四层混合材料波导构成的阵列波导光栅,计算了该新型温度不敏感型阵列波导光栅的温度特性。结果表明,在一定的设计下,温度变化0~50℃时,这两种温度不敏感型阵列波导光栅的最大波长漂移量小于0.03nm,不到无温度控制时常规阵列波导光栅最大波长漂移量的4%。  相似文献

A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) interrogating technique based on the relative intensity-demodulating and the demultiplexing of an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) is presented in this paper. The analytical simulation and the experiment validate the feasibility of this setup. Both theoretical and experiment results show that the shift of the Bragg wavelength of the FBG sensors can be precisely interrogated by the relative intensity reading of two-adjacent-channels of the AWG-based demultiplexer. Errors caused by the light source fluctuation and micro-band losses can be reduced with the relative technique. This technique potentially offers a low-cost, compact, and high-performance solution for the interrogation of FBG distributed sensors.  相似文献

We demonstrated a photonic crystal waveguide based dense wavelength division multiplexing device using the resonances in the cavities. The demultiplexing is achieved through filtering. This filtering is achieved by varying the radii of the surrounding holes of the cavity, which in turn changes the resonant wavelength of the cavity. The four wavelengths demultiplexed in the design are 0.8 nm apart in the optical region centered on 1.55 and 1.56 μm. The device designed and simulated has easy to realize structure as well as high quality factor. Two-dimensional Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) is chosen to do the simulation of this work.  相似文献

在InP阵列波导光栅的制作过程中会引入不同的误差,从而影响器件的性能.为了最大限度地控制误差,提高半导体器件性能,本文采用传输函数法对InP基阵列波导光栅的系统误差和随机误差分别进行了分析.从系统误差的模拟结果中可以得到如下结论:深脊型波导的有效折射率nc平均每偏移+0.000 1,中心波长偏移+0.05nm.相邻阵列波导长度差ΔL每偏移+0.01 μm,中心波长将偏移+0.44 nm.nc和ΔL仅仅会影响到传输谱中心通道及其他各通道对应的波长,使得传输谱发生整体漂移,而信道间隔及串扰不会改变.罗兰圆半径R偏移不会影响器件的中心通道对应的波长,但会使其它通道对应的波长发生变化,最终使得信道间隔改变,R增加50 μm,信道间隔减小0.03 nm.从随机误差模拟结果中,得出:波导芯区折射率、上包层折射率、衬底折射率、波导宽度和波导芯层厚度的随机波动会对阵列波导光栅的串扰产生较大的影响.根据以上分析,可以通过控制不同参量来调节器件的中心波长以及信道间隔等来优化阵列波导光栅的光学性能.  相似文献

A novel kind of plasmonic wavelength demultiplexers (WDMs) based on two-dimensional metal–insulator–metal waveguides with side coupled nanocavities (SCNCs) is proposed and numerically investigated. The WDMs contain three waveguide output channels, each of which functions as a dual-stopband plasmonic filter. The demultiplexing wavelengths can be tuned by controlling the lengths and widths of SCNCs. The finite-difference time-domain results can be accurately analyzed by the resonant theory of nanocavity. Our structures have important potential applications for design of WDM systems in highly integrated optical circuits.  相似文献

In this paper, we have analyzed the performance and feasibility for the metropolitan area network based on arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexers and arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) demultiplexers operating at the bitrate of 10 Gb/s. In the network, the data is successfully transmitted to a distance of 50 km with a very low BER of 1 × 10−40 thus improving the performance over AWG star based networks. Here, we have observed that arrayed waveguide gratings based multiplexers and demultiplexers for WDM applications prove to be capable of precise multiplexing and demultiplexing of a large number of channels with relatively low losses. This paper also presents the comparative investigation and suitability of various data formats like NRZ Rectangular, NRZ Raised cosine, RZ Rectangular, RZ Raised cosine and RZ super Gaussian for optical transmission link. It has been shown that RZ Raised cosine yields the highest value of Q, good eye opening and lowest BER.  相似文献

In this paper, two dimensional photonic crystal, based eight-channel demultiplexer is proposed and designed for DWDM applications. The performance parameters of the demultiplexer such as transmission efficiency, channel spacing, spectral line width, Q factor, and crosstalk have been evaluated. The proposed demultiplexer comprises of bus waveguide, drop waveguide and parellogram resonant cavity (PRC). The bus waveguide transmits light to the PRC and exits through respective drop waveguide. The PRC consists of a parellogram resonator with a nano ring cavity that is used for dropping eight specific wavelength for ITU-T G 694.1 standard with 50 GHz channel spacing. The circular ring resonator is placed above the PRC wherein a resonant air hole (Cr) is positioned for desired channel selection. The channel selection is done by altering the radius of the air hole. In addition, a conjugate radiant neural network is implemented for optimizing the radii of resonant air holes to select the required channel wavelength. The proposed device is very compact and it could be considered for implementing the photonic integrated circuits.  相似文献

In this paper, a new channel drop filter in two dimensional photonic crystals with mirror cavities is proposed. In the structure, three cavities are used. One is used for a resonant tunneling-based channel drop filter. The others are used to realize reflection feedback in the bus waveguide, which consists of a point defect micro-cavity side-coupled to a waveguide. The simulation results by using the finite-difference time-domain method conclude 98% output efficiency.  相似文献

在光波导模场分布高斯近似条件下,根据星形光波导耦合器的耦合特性,推导出了基于累加运算和卷积运算近似表达的阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器光谱响应效率的函数表达式。给出了阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器光谱响应效率曲线的半最大值全宽度和阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器的通道中心波长的光谱响应度与器件参数的关系。在输入信号光谱分布高斯近似条件下,给出了阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器信号通道传输效率的计算表达式和输入信号光谱宽度对阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器信号通道输出特性的影响。给出了物理意义明确的函数表达式,它们可为快速分析阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器的特性提供理论基础。  相似文献
