In the study of the essential features of thermoelastic contact, Comninou and Dundurs (J. Therm. Stresses 3 (1980) 427) devised a simplified model, the so-called “Aldo model”, where the full 3D body is replaced by a large number of thin rods normal to the interface and insulated between each other, and the system was further reduced to 2 rods by Barber's Conjecture (ASME J. Appl. Mech. 48 (1981) 555). They studied in particular the case of heat flux at the interface driven by temperature differences of the bodies, and opposed by a contact resistance, finding possible multiple and history dependent solutions, depending on the imposed temperature differences.The Aldo model is here extended to include the presence of frictional heating. It is found that the number of solutions of the problem is still always odd, and Barber's graphical construction and the stability analysis of the previous case with no frictional heating can be extended. For any given imposed temperature difference, a critical speed is found for which the uniform pressure solution becomes non-unique and/or unstable. For one direction of the temperature difference, the uniform pressure solution is non-unique before it becomes unstable. When multiple solutions occur, outermost solutions (those involving only one rod in contact) are always stable.A full numerical analysis has been performed to explore the transient behaviour of the system, in the case of two rods of different size. In the general case of N rods, Barber's conjecture is shown to hold since there can only be two stable states for all the rods, and the reduction to two rods is always possible, a posteriori.  相似文献

In this paper, a transient dynamic analysis of the powder compaction process is simulated by a large displacement finite element method based on a total and updated Lagrangian formulation. A combination of the Mohr–Coulomb and elliptical yield cap model, which reflects the stress state and degree of densification, is applied to describe the constitutive model of powder materials. A Coulomb friction law and a plasticity theory of friction in the context of an interface element formulation are employed in the constitutive modelling of the frictional behaviour between the die and powder. Finally, the powder behaviour during the compaction of a plain bush, a rotational flanged and a shaped tip component are analysed numerically. It is shown that the updated Lagrangian formulation, using a combination of the Mohr–Coulomb and elliptical cap model, can be effective in simulating metal powder compaction.  相似文献

Microarc oxidation coatings on AM60B magnesium alloy were prepared in silicate and phosphate electrolytes. Structure, composition, mechanical property, tribological, and corrosion resistant characteristics of the coatings was studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and microhardness analyses, and by ball-on-disc friction and potentiodynamic corrosion testing. It is found that the coating produced from the silicate electrolyte is compact and uniform and is mainly composed of MgO and forsterite Mg2SiO4 phases, while the one formed in phosphate electrolyte is relatively porous and is mainly composed of MgO phase. The thick coating produced from a silicate electrolyte possesses a high hardness and provides a low wear rate (3.55 × 10−5 mm3/Nm) but a high friction coefficient against Si3N4 ball. A relatively low hardness and friction coefficient while a high wear rate (8.65 × 10−5 mm3/Nm) is recorded during the testing of the thick coating produced from a phosphate electrolyte. Both of these types of coatings provide effective protection for the corrosion resistance compared with the uncoated magnesium alloy. The coating prepared from the silicate electrolyte demonstrates better corrosion behavior due to the compacter microstructure.  相似文献

We report on the frictional properties of a single contact between a glassy polymer lens and a flat silica substrate covered either by a disordered or by a self-assembled alkylsilane monolayer. We find that, in contrast to a widely spread belief, the Amontons proportionality between frictional and normal stresses does not hold. Besides, we observe that the velocity dependence of the sliding stress is strongly sensitive to the structure of the silane layer. Analysis of the frictional rheology observed on both disordered and self-assembled monolayers suggests that dissipation is controlled by the plasticity of a glass-like interfacial layer in the former case, and by pinning of polymer chains on the substrate in the latter one.  相似文献

Importance of elastic deformation control to obtain large output force with a surface acoustic wave (SAW) motor is discussed in this paper. By adding pre-load to slider, stator and slider surfaces are deformed in a few tens nanometer. Appropriate deformation in normal direction against normal vibration displacement amplitude of SAW existed. By moderate deformation, the output force of the SAW motor was enlarged up to about 10 N and no-load speed was 0.7 m/s. To produce this performance, the transducer weight and slider size were only 4.2 g and 4 x 4 mm(2).By traveling wave propagation, surface particles of the SAW device move in elliptical motion. Due to the amplitude of the elliptical motion is 10 or 20 nm order, the contact condition of the slider is very critical. To control the contact condition, namely, the elastic deformation of the slider and stator surface in nanometer order, a lot of projections were fabricated on the slider surface. The projection diameter was 20 micro m. In static condition, the elastic deformation and stress were evaluated with the FEM analysis. From this calculation and the simulation result, it is consider that the wave crest is distorted, hence the elasticity has influence on the friction drive condition.Elastic deformation of the stator surface beneath the projection from the initial position were evaluated. In 4 x 4 mm(2) square area, the sliders had from 1089 to 23,409 projections. Depression was independent to the contact pressure. However, the output force depended on the depression although the projection density were different. From the view point of the output power of the motor, the proper depression was independent to the projection density. Around 25 nm depression, the output force and output power were maximized. This depression value was almost same as the vibration displacement amplitude of the stator transducer.  相似文献

We study the dynamics of a Brownian particle in a 1D external potential under the influence of a time-periodic bias with an amplitude small with respect to the potential barriers. We consider both a periodic potential corresponding to a smooth crystal surface and a regular array of steps with an extra Ehrlich–Schwoebel barrier for step crossing. For the smooth surface, we extend our previous work in the high friction limit to the low friction case and find that the oscillating bias enhances the diffusion coefficient DT due to the broadening of the jump length distribution. In the case of a stepped surface with terraces of length L, the bias induces a non-zero average current Jave in the direction of descending steps as long as the driving frequency is smaller than a threshold frequency ΩTL−1. The current shows a maximum as a function of temperature for fixed L. However, no evidence of stochastic resonance type of enhancement can be found either in DT or Jave.  相似文献

We propose a simple friction model for isolated polymer chains on a solid substrate. The chains are pulled at constant velocity by one end, the other end can be trapped on the solid substrate on localised sites. We focus on the energy dissipation due to the traps. This simple model leads to nontrivial friction laws, depending on the velocity and the distance between traps. An orthogonal test was used to design different mixture ratios of molybdenum disulfide(MoS2), graphite, and SiO2 particles, which were filled with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite. MoS2-, graphite-, and SiO2-modified PTFE was obtained by pressing and sintering, and the processing parameters were determined using progressive studies and experiments. The friction and wear properties of different PTFE composites lubricated with natural seawater were analyzed using an MMU-5G wear tester. A laser scanning confocal microscope was employed to examine the morphological characteristics of the worn surface. Moreover, the influence of particle proportions on the tribological property of composites was analyzed. Results show that the addition of SiO2, MoS2, and graphite can increase the bearing capacity, improve the wear resistance, reduce the friction coefficient, and increase the self-lubricating ability of the PTFE matrix.  相似文献

Amorphous carbon nitride (a-CNx) films with functional gradient Ti-TiN/CNx underlayer were deposited by direct current magnetron sputtering. Microstructure and composition of the films were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscope (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Mechanical and tribological properties were investigated by nanoindenter, scratch and ball-on-disk tribometer. The a-CNx-based films suffer a graphitization process with the increasing deposition temperature, thus the hardness and elastic modulus decrease. With the design of the Ti-TiN/CNx gradient underlayers, some important advantages of relatively thick CNx films can be achieved, such as increased hardness, improved adhesion strength, and the wear resistance of the a-CNx-based films can be also improved significantly.  相似文献

This work describes the microstructure and mechanical properties of B-C-N-H films synthesized by medium frequency magnetron sputtering from a boron target in a N2 + CH4 + Ar gas mixture. The increase in the CH4 flow rate increases the carbonaceous compound species, causes the increase of the C atomic concentration and promotes the formation of sp3-hybridized carbon. The change of hardness with the CH4 flow rate had a relationship with the residual stress. The coefficient of friction was reduced approximately from 0.8 to 0.18, and wear resistance was considerably improved by increasing the flow of CH4 gas component from 0 to 40 sccm. The change of films’ hardness was discussed and attributed primarily to the internal defects and bonding characteristics, while the superior tribological properties of the films could be assigned to the formation of sp3-hybridized carbon and the C-H bonding.  相似文献
