The inelastic neutron scattering (INS) spectrum of polycrystalline Cs2[B12H12] is assigned through 1200 cm(-1) on the basis of aqueous and solid-state Raman/IR measurements and normal mode analyses from solid-state density functional theory. The Cs+ cations are responsible for frequency shifts of the internal cage vibrational modes and I(h) cage mode splittings due to the crystal T(h) site symmetry. These changes to the [B12H12]2- molecular modes make isolated-molecule calculations inadequate for use in complete assignments. Solid-state calculations reveal that 30/40 cm(-1) shifts of Tg/Hg molecular modes are responsible for structure in the INS spectrum unobserved by optical methods or in aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Parameters of bands corresponding to stretching vibrations of C-H bonds in spectra of o-, m-, and p-isomers of the icosahedral carborane B10H10C2H2 have been measured with high accuracy. The stretching vibrations of C-H bonds in spectra of o- and m-carborane (12), molecules which have C2v point group symmetry, are demonstrated to appear the same as in the spectrum of the p-isomer with D5d symmetry. The frequencies of Raman and IR lines practically coincide. This indicates the absence of interaction of the stretching vibrations of the two C-H bonds even in the o-carborane molecule.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 10, pp. 2263–2267, October, 1989.  相似文献

The normal mode frequencies and corresponding vibrational assignments of 1,5-dicarba-closo-pentaborane(5) are examined theoretically using the GAUSSIAN 98 set of quantum chemistry codes. All normal modes were successfully assigned to one of six types of motion predicted by a group theoretical analysis (C-H stretch, B-H stretch, B-B stretch, B-C stretch, C-H wag, and B-H wag) utilizing the D(3h) symmetry of the molecule. By comparing the vibrational frequencies with IR and Raman spectra available in the literature, a set of scaling factors is derived. Theoretical IR and Raman intensities are reported.  相似文献

Vibrational spectra of methyl C-H stretching region are notoriously complicated, and thus a theoretical method of systematic assignment is strongly called for in condensed phase. Here we develop a unified analysis method of the vibrational spectra, such as infrared (IR), polarized and depolarized Raman, and ssp polarized sum frequency generation (SFG), by flexible and polarizable molecular dynamics simulation. The molecular model for methanol has been developed by charge response kernel model to allow for analyzing the methyl C-H stretching vibrations. The complicated spectral structure by the Fermi resonance has been unraveled by empirically shifting potential parameters, which provides clear information on the coupling mechanism. The analysis confirmed that for the IR, polarized Raman, and SFG spectra, two-band structure at about 2830 and 2950 cm(-1) results from the Fermi resonance splitting of the methyl C-H symmetric stretching and bending overtones. In the IR spectrum, the latter, higher-frequency band is overlapped with prominent asymmetric C-H stretching bands. In the depolarized Raman spectrum, the high frequency band at about 2980 cm(-1) is assigned to the asymmetric C-H stretching mode. In the SFG spectrum, the two bands of the splitted symmetric C-H stretching mode have negative amplitudes of imaginary nonlinear susceptibility χ(2), while the higher-frequency band is partly cancelled by positive imaginary components of asymmetric C-H stretching modes.  相似文献

The Cuban chromites with a spinel structure, FeCr2O4 have been studied using optical absorption and EPR spectroscopy. The spectral features in the electronic spectra are used to map the octahedral and tetrahedral co-ordinated cations. Bands due Cr3+ and Fe3+ ions could be distinguished from UV-vis spectrum. Chromite spectrum shows two spin allowed bands at 17,390 and 23,810 cm(-1) due to Cr3+ in octahedral field and they are assigned to 4A2g(F) --> 4T2g(F) and 4A2g(F) --> 4T1g(F) transitions. This is in conformity with the broad resonance of Cr3+ observed from EPR spectrum at g = 1.903 and a weak signal at g = 3.861 confirms Fe3+ impurity in the mineral. Bands of Fe3+ ion in the optical spectrum at 13,700, 18,870 and 28,570 cm(-1) are attributed to 6A1g(S) --> 4T1g(G), 6A1g(S) --> 4T2g(G) and 6A1g(S) --> 4T2g(P) transitions, respectively. Near-IR reflectance spectroscopy has been used effectively to show intense absorption bands caused by electronic spin allowed d-d transitions of Fe2+ in tetrahedral symmetry, in the region 5000-4000 cm(-1). The high frequency region (7500-6500 cm(-1)) is attributed to the overtones of hydroxyl stretching modes. Correlation between Raman spectral features and mineral chemistry are used to interpret the Raman data. The Raman spectrum of chromite shows three bands in the CrO stretching region at 730, 560 and 445 cm(-1). The most intense peak at 730 cm(-1) is identified as symmetric stretching vibrational mode, A1g(nu1) and the other two minor peaks at 560 and 445 cm(-1) are assigned to F2g(nu4) and E(g)(nu2) modes, respectively. Cation substitution in chromite results various changes both in Raman and IR spectra. In the low-wavenumber region of Raman spectrum a significant band at 250 cm(-1) with a component at 218 cm(-1) is attributed F2g(nu3) mode. The minor peaks at 195, 175, 160 cm(-1) might be due to E(g) and F2g symmetries. Broadening of the peak of A1g mode and shifting of the peak to higher wavenumber observed as a result of increasing the proportion of Al3+O6. The presence of water in the mineral shows bands in the IR spectrum at 3550, 3425, 3295, 1630 and 1455 cm(-1). The vibrational spectrum of chromite gives raise to four frequencies at 985, 770, 710 and 650 cm(-1). The first two frequencies nu1 and nu2 are related to the lattice vibrations of octahedral groups. Due to the influence of tetrahedral bivalent cation, vibrational interactions occur between nu3 and nu4 and hence the low frequency bands, nu3 and nu4 correspond to complex vibrations involving both octahedral and tetrahedral cations simultaneously. Cr3+ in Cuban natural chromites has highest CFSE (20,868 cm(-1)) when compared to other oxide minerals.  相似文献

We here present experimental infrared spectra on two (C(6)H(6))(C(6)D(6)) benzene dimer isomers in the gas phase. The spectra show that the two benzene molecules in the dimer are symmetrically inequivalent and have distinct IR signatures. One of the two molecules is in a site of low symmetry, which leads to the IR activation of fundamental modes that are IR forbidden by symmetry in the monomer. In the spectra, all four fundamental C-H stretch modes of benzene are observed. Modes in the dimer are shifted up to 3 cm(-1) to the red, compared to the modes that are known for the monomer. For the nu(13) B(1u) C-H stretch fundamental mode of benzene, a first experimental value of 3015(+2) (-5) cm(-1) is determined, in excellent agreement with anharmonic frequency calculations presented here.  相似文献

FT IR and FT Raman spectra of Ag3(PO2NH), (Compound 1), Na3(PO2NH)3 x H2O (Compound II), Na3(PO2NH)3 x 4H2O (Compound III), [C(NH2)3]3(PO2NH)3 x H2O (Compound IV) and (NH4)4(PO2NH)4 x 4H2O (Compound V) are recorded and analyzed on the basis of the anions, cations and water molecules present in each of them. The PO2NH- anion ring in compound I is distorted due to the influence of Ag+ cation. Wide variation in the hydrogen bond lengths in compound III is indicated by the splitting of the v2 and v3 modes of vibration of water molecules. The NH4 ion in compound V occupies lower site symmetry and exhibits hindered rotation in the lattice. The correlations between the symmetric and asymmetric stretching vibrations of P-N-P bridge and the P-N-P bond angle have also been discussed.  相似文献

Vibrational properties of the five-coordinate porphyrin complexes [M(TPP)(Cl)] (M = Fe, Mn, Co) are analyzed in detail. For [Fe(TPP)(Cl)] (1), a complete vibrational data set is obtained, including nonresonance (NR) Raman, and resonance Raman (RR) spectra at multiple excitation wavelengths as well as IR spectra. These data are completely assigned using density functional (DFT) calculations and polarization measurements. Compared to earlier works, a number of bands are reassigned in this one. These include the important, structure-sensitive band at 390 cm(-1), which is reassigned here to the totally symmetric nu(breathing)(Fe-N) vibration for complex 1. This is in agreement with the assignments for [Ni(TPP)]. In general, the assignments are on the basis of an idealized [M(TPP)]+ core with D(4h) symmetry. In this Work, small deviations from D(4h) are observed in the vibrational spectra and analyzed in detail. On the basis of the assignments of the vibrational spectra of 1, [Mn(TPP)(Cl)] (2), and diamagnetic [Co(TPP)(Cl)] (3), eight metal-sensitive bands are identified. Two of them correspond to the nu(M-N) stretching modes with B(1g) and Eu symmetries and are assigned here for the first time. The shifts of the metal sensitive modes are interpreted on the basis of differences in the porphyrin C-C, C-N, and M-N distances. Besides the porphyrin core vibrations, the M-Cl stretching modes also show strong metal sensitivity. The strength of the M-Cl bond in 1-3 is further investigated. From normal coordinate analysis (NCA), force constants of 1.796 (Fe), 0.932 (Mn), and 1.717 (Co) mdyn/A are obtained for 1-3, respectively. The weakness of the Mn-Cl bond is attributed to the fact that it only corresponds to half a sigma bond. Finally, RR spectroscopy is used to gain detailed insight into the nature of the electronically excited states. This relates to the mechanism of resonance enhancement and the actual nature of the enhanced vibrations. It is of importance that anomalous polarized bands (A(2g) vibrations), which are diagnostic for vibronic mixing, are especially useful for this purpose.  相似文献

Vibrational frequencies that are forbidden in Raman and IR absorption can be observed by inelastic neutron scattering. In the case of the I(h)-symmetrical molecule dodecahedrane (shown schematically), the resulting spectrum agrees with a DFT calculation.  相似文献

Infrared (4000-400 cm(-1)) and Raman (3500-50 cm(-1)) spectral measurements have been made for the solid sample of 7-methyl-4-bromomethylcoumarin. Electronic structure calculations at RHF/6-31G* and B3LYP/6-31G* levels of theory have been performed, giving equilibrium geometries, harmonic vibrational spectra and normal modes. Different orientations of bromomethyl group have yielded only two conformers, of which the most stable one lying lower from the other conformer by approximately 7.99 kJ/mol, is non-planar with no symmetry. A complete assignment of the vibrational modes, aided by the calculations, has been proposed. Coupled vibrations are manifest in many modes. Some spectral features, compared to 6-methyl-4-bromomethylcoumarin, show changes across both IR and Raman spectra, involving mainly skeletal vibrations, and to a lesser degree, methyl and bromomethyl vibrations. Low-frequency vibrations below 150 cm(-1) are assigned to lattice modes.  相似文献

The direct infrared (IR) absorption spectrum of benzene dimer formed in a free-jet expansion was recorded in the 3.3 μm region for the first time. This has led to the observation of the C-H stretching fundamental mode ν(13) (B(1u)), which is both IR and Raman forbidden in the monomer. Moreover, the IR forbidden and Raman allowed ν(7) (E(2g)) mode has been observed as well. These two modes were found to be red-shifted along with the IR allowed ν(20) (E(1u)) mode, as previously reported by Erlekam et al. [Erlekam; Frankowski; Meijer; Gert von Helden J. Chem. Phys.2006, 124, 171101], using ion-dip spectroscopy, contrary to the blue-shift predicted earlier by theoretical studies. The observation of the ν(13) band indicates that the symmetry is reduced in the dimer, confirming the T-shaped structure observed by Erlekam et al. Our experimental results have not provided any direct evidence for the presence of the parallel displaced geometry, the main objective of the present work, as predicted by theoretical calculations.  相似文献

The normal mode frequencies and corresponding vibrational assignments of 1,6-dicarba-closo-hexaborane(6) are examined theoretically using the GAUSSIAN98 set of quantum chemistry codes. All normal modes were successfully assigned to one of six types of motion predicted by a group theoretical analysis (B-B stretch, B-C stretch, B-H stretch, C-H stretch, B-H bend, and C-H bend) utilizing the D(4h) symmetry of the molecule. The vibrational modes of the naturally isotopically substituted (1-(10)B, 2-(10)B 3-(10)B, and 4-(10)B) forms of 1,6-dicarba-closo-hexaborane(6) were also calculated and compared against experimental data. A complex pattern of frequency shifts and splittings is revealed.  相似文献

The normal-mode spectrum for the four-coordinated heme compound Fe(II) octaethylporphyrin, Fe(OEP), has been determined by refining force constants to the experimental Fe vibrational density of states measured with nuclear resonance vibrational spectroscopy (NRVS). Convergence of the calculated spectrum to the data was achieved by first imposing D4 symmetry on the model structure as well as the force constants, progressively including different internal coordinates of motion, then allowing the true Ci (or S2) point group symmetry of the C(i)1 Fe(OEP) crystal structure. The NRVS-refined normal modes are in good agreement with Raman and IR spectra at high frequencies. Prior density functional theory predictions for a model porphyrin are similar to the core modes computed with the best-fit force field, but significant differences between D4 and Ci modes underline the sensitivity of porphyrin Fe normal modes to structural details. Some differences between the Ci best fit and the NRVS data can be attributed to intermolecular contacts not included in the normal-mode analysis.  相似文献

Infrared and Raman spectra of 2,5-bis(1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)-1,3,4,6-tetrathiapentalene (BDT-TTP) and 1,3,4,6-tetrathiapentalene-2,5-dione (TTP-DO) are reported. The vibrational modes of TTP-DO are assigned with the aid of the depolarization ratio of solution Raman spectra, polarized reflection spectra and polarized Raman spectra. A D2h symmetry is assumed for the BDT-TTP molecule and its in-plane fundamental vibrations are assigned with the aid of the polarization ratio and the correlation with TTP-DO, tetrathiafulvalene (TTF), tetramethyltetrathiafulvalene (TMTTF) and bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF). Normal coordinate calculation with a modified internal valence force field was carried out for the in-plane fundamental vibrations of TTP-DO and BDT-TTP. Ab initio calculations of the normal modes of BDT-TTP0 and BDT-TTP+ are compared with the empirical analysis.  相似文献

1-Diazo-2,4-pentadiyne (6a), along with both monodeuterio isotopomers 6b and 6c, has been synthesized via a route that proceeds through diacetylene, 2,4-pentadiynal, and 2,4-pentadiynal tosylhydrazone. Photolysis of diazo compounds 6a-c (lambda > 444 nm; Ar or N2, 10 K) generates triplet carbenes HC5H (1) and HC5D (1-d), which have been characterized by IR, EPR, and UV/vis spectroscopy. Although many resonance structures contribute to the resonance hybrid for this highly unsaturated carbon-chain molecule, experiment and theory reveal that the structure is best depicted in terms of the dominant resonance contributor of penta-1,4-diyn-3-ylidene (diethynylcarbene, H-C[triple bond]C-:C-C[triple bond]C-H). Theory predicts an axially symmetric (D(infinity h)) structure and a triplet electronic ground state for 1 (CCSD(T)/ANO). Experimental IR frequencies and isotope shifts are in good agreement with computed values. The triplet EPR spectrum of 1 (absolute value(D/hc) = 0.6157 cm(-1), absolute value(E/hc) = 0.0006 cm(-1)) is consistent with an axially symmetric structure, and the Curie law behavior confirms that the triplet state is the ground state. The electronic absorption spectrum of 1 exhibits a weak transition near 400 nm with extensive vibronic coupling. Chemical trapping of triplet HC5H (1) in an O2-doped matrix affords the carbonyl oxide 16 derived exclusively from attack at the central carbon.  相似文献

In IR and Raman spectral studies, the congestion of the vibrational modes in the C-H stretching region between 2800 and 3000 cm(-1) has complicated spectral assignment, conformational analysis, and structural and dynamics studies, even with quite a few of the simplest molecules. To resolve these issues, polarized spectra measurement on a well aligned sample is generally required. Because the liquid interface is generally ordered and molecularly thin, and sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy (SFG-VS) is an intrinsically coherent polarization spectroscopy, SFG-VS can be used for discerning details in vibrational spectra of the interfacial molecules. Here we show that, from systematic molecular symmetry and SFG-VS polarization analysis, a set of polarization selection rules could be developed for explicit assignment of the SFG vibrational spectra of the C-H stretching modes. These polarization selection rules helped assignment of the SFG-VS spectra of vapor/alcohol (n = 1-8) interfaces with unprecedented details. Previous approach on assignment of these spectra relied on IR and Raman spectral assignment, and they were not able to give such detailed assignment of the SFG vibrational spectra. Sometimes inappropriate assignment was made, and consequently misleading conclusions on interfacial structure, conformation and even dynamics were reached. With these polarization rules in addition to knowledge from IR and Raman studies, new structural information and understanding of the molecular interactions at these interfaces were obtained, and some new spectral features for the C-H stretching modes were also identified. Generally speaking, these new features can be applied to IR and Raman spectroscopic studies in the condensed phase. Therefore, the advancement on vibrational spectra assignment may find broad applications in the related fields using IR and Raman as vibrational spectroscopic tools.  相似文献

Structural and vibrational features of hexagonal hydroxyapatite HA [Ca(10)(PO(4))(6)(OH)(2), space group P6(3)] are computed ab initio within a periodic approach using the CRYSTAL03 program and the B3LYP hybrid functional with a Gaussian-type basis set of polarized double zeta quality. Experimental lattice parameters and internal coordinates have been fully optimized and the final structure characterized by means of its band structure, density of states and Mulliken analysis. The full B3LYP harmonic vibrational spectrum of HA at Gamma point has also been computed and compares well with the available experimental IR and Raman data. Nevertheless, the presence of one negative frequency in the computed spectrum shows that, within the hexagonal symmetry imposed by the P6(3) group, the structure is a saddle point. This is at variance with the monoclinic structure (under P2(1)/b space group), which has been computed, with the same approach, to be a minimum of 17 kJ mol(-1) (per unit cell) more stable than the corresponding hexagonal HA structure.  相似文献

The IR spectrum of cis-(CH(3))(2)Au(O,O'-acac) has been reassigned by comparing frequencies for cis-(CH(3))(2)Au(O,O'-acac) and cis-(CD(3))(2)Au(O,O'-acac), and by analysis of the DFT-calculated normal modes and their frequencies for the isolated molecules. The vibrational intensity in the C-H stretching region arises almost entirely from the cis-(CH(3))(2)Au fragment, while the methyl deformation intensity is largely of acetylacetonato ligand origin. A low frequency mode in the C-H stretching region is the first overtone of the delta(a)(CH(3)) mode of cis-(CH(3))(2)Au. The Au-C stretching modes are affected by deuteration of the cis-(CH(3))(2)Au fragment, while the Au-O stretching modes are not.  相似文献

The products obtained in the reaction of cobalt atoms in neat benzene or in a benzene/argon mixture at low temperature have been reinvestigated. At least three cobalt-containing species were detected by IR, namely, Co(C(6)H(6)), Co(C(6)H(6))(2), and Co(x)(C(6)H(6)), x>1. The IR bands were assigned to these complexes by monitoring their behavior as a function of (a) Co and C(6)H(6) concentration, (b) isotopic substitution, and (c) photoirradiation. We were able to analyze the sample in neat benzene by both electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and IR spectroscopy and to determine the magnetic parameters (g tensor and Co hyperfine interaction) for the Co(C(6)H(6))(2) sandwich compound. The large number of fundamental bands observed in the IR spectrum of Co(C(6)H(6))(2), the absorption pattern observed in the Co-ring stretching region of the IR spectrum of the mixed complex, Co(C(6)H(6))(C(6)D(6)) and the orthorhombic g-values extracted from the EPR spectrum are most consistent with nonequivalent benzene ligands in Co(C(6)H(6))(2), i.e., C(s) symmetry. A bonding scheme consistent with both the EPR and IR data for Co(C(6)H(6))(2) is discussed.  相似文献

IR and Raman spectra of 17 mono- and polyalkyl furans, with alkyl groups in various positions in the furan ring, are investigated. A change in Raman spectrum is found for C-H bond valence vibrations when alkyl groups substitute the furan ring at the position. Characteristic frequencies are found for 2-substituted and 2, 5-disubstituted furans. For part VI see [6].  相似文献
