This study presents a comprehensively and systematically structural, chemical and magnetic characterization of ~9.5 nm virtually monodispersed nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) nanoparticles prepared using a modified liquid–solid-solution (LSS) assisted hydrothermal method. Lattice-resolution scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) and converged beam electron diffraction pattern (CBED) techniques are adapted to characterize the detailed spatial morphology and crystal structure of individual NiFe2O4 particles at nano scale for the first time. It is found that each NiFe2O4 nanoparticle is single crystal with an fcc structure. The morphology investigation reveals that the prepared NiFe2O4 nanoparticles of which the surfaces are decorated by oleic acid are dispersed individually in hexane. The chemical composition of nickel ferrite nanoparticles is measured to be 1:2 atomic ratio of Ni:Fe, indicating a pure NiFe2O4 composition. Magnetic measurements reveal that the as-synthesized nanocrystals displayed superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature and were ferromagnetic at 10 K. The nanoscale characterization and magnetic investigation of monodispersed NiFe2O4 nanoparticles should be significant for its potential applications in the field of biomedicine and magnetic fluid using them as magnetic materials.  相似文献

In this work the magnetic and structural properties of granular Ni(SiO2) films are studied by means of FORCs diagrams and microscopy. Transmission electron microscopy images show that the sample is composed of a fine dispersion of Ni nanoparticles with 3.7 nm in average sizes. Magnetic measurements as function of temperature show that the nanoparticles are superparamagnetic at room temperature and are blocked at 5 K. The FORCs diagrams obtained below the blocking temperature allow us to determine the average size of the nanoparticles and the distribution of sizes in a very good agreement with TEM images.  相似文献

Magnetic nanoparticles of La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) manganite were prepared by sol-gel method. Phase formation and crystal structure of the synthesized powder were examined by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) using the Rietveld analysis. The mean particle size was determined by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Infrared transmission spectroscopy revealed that stretching and bending modes are influenced by calcinations temperature. The temperature dependence of the ac magnetic susceptibility was measured at different frequencies and ac magnetic fields in the selected ranges of 40-1000 Hz and 80-800 A/m, respectively. The temperature dependence of ac susceptibility shows a characteristic maxima corresponding to the blocking temperature near room temperature. The frequency dependence of the blocking temperature is well described by the Vogel-Fulcher law. By fitting the experimental data with this law, the relaxation time τ0=1.7×10−12 s, characteristic temperature T0=262±3 K, anisotropy energy Ea/k=684±15 K and effective magnetic anisotropy constant keff=2.25×104 erg/cm3 have been obtained. dc Magnetization measurement versus magnetic field shows that some of LSMO nanoparticles are blocked at 293 K. The role of magnetic interparticle interactions on the magnetic behavior is also investigated.  相似文献

Samples of Mn-oxide nanoparticles dispersed in an amorphous SiO2 matrix with manganese concentration 0.7 and 3 at% have been synthesized by a sol-gel method. Transmission electron microscopy analysis has shown that the samples contain agglomerates of amorphous silica particles 10-20 nm in size. In silica matrix two types of Mn-rich particles are dispersed, smaller nanoparticles with dimensions between 3 and 10 nm, and larger crystalline areas consisting of aggregates of the smaller nanoparticles. High-temperature magnetic susceptibility study reveals that dominant magnetic phase at higher temperatures is λ-MnO2. At temperatures below TC=43 K strong ferrimagnetism originating from the minor Mn3O4 phase masks the relatively weak magnetism of λ-MnO2 with antiferromagnetic interactions. Magnetic field dependence of the maximum in the zero-field-cooled magnetization for both the samples in the vicinity of 40 K, and a frequency shift of the real component of the ac magnetic susceptibility in the sample with 3 at% Mn suggest that the magnetic moments of the smaller Mn3O4 nanoparticles with dimensions below 10 nm are exposed to thermally activated blocking process just below the Curie temperature TC. Appearance of a maximum in the zero-field-cooled magnetization for both the samples below 10 K indicates possible spin glass freezing of the magnetic moments at low temperatures which might occur in the geometrically frustrated Mn sublattice of the λ-MnO2 crystal structure.  相似文献

Mg-doped Ni nanoparticles with the hexagonal close-packed (hcp) and face-centered cubic (fcc) structure have been synthesized by sol-gel method sintered at different temperatures in argon atmosphere. The sintering temperature played an important role in the control of the crystalline phase and the particle size. The pure hcp Mg-doped Ni nanoparticles with average particle size of 6.0 nm were obtained at 320 °C. The results indicated that the transition from the hcp to the fcc phase occurred in the temperature range between 320 °C and 450 °C. Moreover, the VSM results showed that the hcp Mg-doped Ni nanoparticles had unique ferromagnetic and superparamagnetic behavior. The unsaturation even at 5000 Oe is one of the superparamagnetic characteristics due to the small particle size. From the ZFC and FC curves, the blocking temperature TB of the hcp sample (6.0 nm) was estimated to be 10 K. The blocking temperature was related to the size of the magnetic particles and the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant. By theoretical calculation, the deduced particle size was 6.59 nm for hcp Mg-doped Ni nanoparticles which was in agreement with the results of XRD and TEM.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic properties of self-aggregated cobalt nanoparticles in the perfluorinated sulfo-cation membrane (MF-4SK) prepared by ion-exchange method were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometry at various temperatures. Our experimental results show that cobalt nanoparticles in MF-4SK exhibit superparamagnetic properties above the blocking temperature (TB), which varies from ∼80 to ∼300 K depending on the cobalt concentration at 100 Oe applied field. The average particle radius of 3.8 nm inferred from Langevin function fit for the concentration of 7.8×1019 cobalt atoms per 1 g of polymer film is in good agreement with TEM observation. This experimental evidence suggests that cobalt nanoparticles in the polymer film obey a single-domain theory. The results are discussed in the light of current theory for the superparamagnetic behavior of magnetic nanoparticles.  相似文献

Using a co-precipitation method, perovskite-type manganese oxide La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 nanoparticles (NPs) with particle size 12 nm were prepared. Detailed studies of both 55Mn nuclear magnetic resonance and superparamagnetic resonance spectrum, completed by magnetic measurements, have been performed to obtain microscopic information on the local magnetic structure of the NP. Our results on nuclear dynamics provide direct evidence of formation of a magnetically dead layer, of the thickness ≈2 nm, at the particle surface. Temperature dependences of the magnetic resonance spectra have been measured to obtain information about complex magnetic properties of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 fine-particle ensembles. In particular, electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum at 300 K shows a relatively narrow sharp line, but as the temperature decreases to 5 K, the apparent resonance field decreases and the line width considerably increases. The low-temperature blocking of the NPs magnetic moments has been clearly observed in the electron paramagnetic resonances. The blocking temperature depends on the measuring frequency and for the ensemble of 12 nm NPs at 9.244 GHz has been evaluated as 110 K.  相似文献

We report on structural and magnetic properties of granular films consisting of 2.5 nm Ni nanoparticles. The films are fabricated by the original laser electrodispersion technique, which allows producing nearly monodisperse and amorphous particles. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) study shows that in 8 nm thickness films the particles are self-assembled in clusters with the lateral size 100-150 nm and the height of about 8 nm. Performed by SQUID, the films magnetization measurements reveal superparamagnetic behaviour, characteristic for an ensemble of non-interacting single domain magnetic particulates. It is found that the magnetic moment of the particulate is equal to that of about 3000 individual Ni nanoparticles and the blocking temperature is close to room temperature. Defined from magnetic measurements, the size of single domain particulates correlates well with the size of the clusters determined from AFM images. We propose that exchange interaction plays an important role in the formation of the particulates by aligning the magnetic moments of the individual Ni nanoparticles inside the clusters. Presence of magnetic clusters with high blocking temperature makes the fabricated films potentially useful for high-density magnetic data storage applications.  相似文献

Zinc-substituted cobalt ferrites, Co1–xZnxFe2O4, were for the first time successfully prepared by forced hydrolysis method. The obtained materials are single phase, monodispersed nanocrystalline with an average grain size of about 3 nm. These materials are superparamagnetic at room temperature and ferrimagnetic at temperature lower than the blocking temperature. When the zinc substitution increases from x=0 to 0.4, at 4.2 K, the saturation magnetization increases from 72.1 to 99.7 emu/g. The high saturation magnetization of these samples suggests that this method is suitable for preparing high-quality nanocrystalline magnetic ferrites for practical applications.  相似文献

Fe3O4 nanoparticle/organic hybrids were synthesized via hydrolysis using iron (III) acetylacetonate at ∼80 °C. The synthesis of Fe3O4 was confirmed by X-ray diffraction, selected-area diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the organic matrix had diameters ranging from 7 to 13 nm depending on the conditions of hydrolysis. The saturation magnetization of the hybrid increased with an increase in the particle size. When the hybrid contained Fe3O4 particles with a size of less than 10 nm, it exhibited superparamagnetic behavior. The blocking temperature of the hybrid containing Fe3O4 particles with a size of 7.3 nm was 200 K, and it increased to 310 K as the particle size increased to 9.1 nm. A hybrid containing Fe3O4 particles of size greater than 10 nm was ferrimagnetic, and underwent Verwey transition at 130 K. Under a magnetic field, a suspension of the hybrid in silicone oil revealed the magnetorheological effect. The yield stress of the fluid was dependent on the saturation magnetization of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the hybrid, the strength of the magnetic field, and the amount of the hybrid.  相似文献

Nickel oxide nanoparticles successfully synthesized by a polymer precursor method are studied in this work. The analysis of X-ray powder diffraction data provides a mean crystallite size of 22±2 nm which is in a good agreement with the mean size estimated from transmission electron microscopy images. Whereas the magnetization (M) vs. magnetic field (H) curve obtained at 5 K is consistent with a ferromagnetic component which coexists with an antiferromagnetic component, the presence of two peaks in the zero-field-cooled trace suggests the occurrence of two blocking process. The broad maximum at high temperature was associated with the thermal relaxation of uncompensated spins at the particle core and the low temperature peak was assigned to the freeze of surface spins clusters. Static and dynamic magnetic results suggest that the correlations of surface spins clusters show a spin-glass-like behavior below Tg=7.3±0.1 K with critical exponents zν=9.7±0.5 and β=0.7±0.1, which are consistent with typical values reported for spin-glass systems.  相似文献

Sound insulation of triple-layered panels consisting of two impervious layers with the middle layer being a Newtonian fluid is studied here both theoretically and experimentally. The progressive impedance model is used to predict the transmission loss (TL) provided by the panel in a normal incidence field. Corrections are then made to obtain the TL values of such panels in random incidence field. A modified B&K impedance tube was constructed for experimental evaluation. Results are presented for a Pyrex glass cylindrical tube containing motor oil, a ferromagnetic nanoparticles fluid (in the absence of a magnetic field) and air. Good agreement is obtained between the measured and analytical results for a wide range of frequencies. Also, a significant difference in TL values, particularly at low frequencies (f ? 4 kHz), is observed once the air is replaced by the fluid layer.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of cobalt chromite nanoparticles of size 8-12 nm synthesized through conventional coprecipitation route are reported. Magnetization versus temperature measurement plot reveals a transition from paramagnetic to superparamagnetic (SPM) phase in contrast with the transition from paramagnetic to long-range ferrimagnetic phase at Curie temperature, Tc, reported in bulk. The blocking temperature, Tb, of SPM phase is found to be 50-60 K. On cooling in the presence of 10 kOe field these nanoparticles show an enhancement in coercivity and shifting of loop at 10 K, which is absent at 50 K. While the later observation supports the blocking temperature of the SPM phase, the former one is attributed to a disordered spin configuration at the surfaces and the distribution of nanoparticle sizes.  相似文献

Magnetic carbon nanotubes consisting of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) core and Fe3O4 shell were successfully prepared by in situ thermal decomposition of Fe(acac)3 or FeCl3 or Fe(CO)5 in 2-pyrrolidone containing acid treated MWNTs at 240 °C with the protection of nitrogen gas. The samples were characterized by TEM, XRD, SEAD, XPS and superconducting quantum interference device. Also, their biocompatibility was compared with naked carbon nanotubes. The results showed that after coated with Fe3O4 nanoparticles, the obtained magnetic carbon nanotubes show superparamagnetic characteristic at room temperature, and their blocking temperature is about 80 K. The magnetic properties of the nanotubes are relevant to the content of magnetic particles, increasing content of magnetic nanoparticles leads to higher blocking temperature and saturation magnetization. The results of antimicrobial activities to bacterial cells (Escherichia coli) showed that the MWNTs have antimicrobial activity, while the magnetic nanotubes are biocompatible even with a higher concentration than that of MWNTs.  相似文献

We report the magnetic properties of magnetic nano-composite, consisting of different quantity of NiFe2O4 nanoparticles in polymer matrix. The nanoparticles exhibited a typical magnetization blocking, which is sensitive on the variation of magnetic field, mode of zero-field-cooled/field-cooled experiments and particle quantity in the matrix. The samples with lower particle quantity showed an upturn of magnetization down to 5 K, whereas the blocking of magnetization dominates at lower temperatures as the particle quantity increases in the polymer. We examine such magnetic behaviour in terms of the competitive magnetic ordering between core and surface spins of nanoparticles, taking into account the effect of inter-particle (dipole-dipole) interactions on nanoparticle magnetic dynamics.  相似文献

In this paper, water-soluble magnetite nanoparticles have been directly synthesized by thermal decomposition of iron (III) acetylacetonate, Fe(acac)3 in tri(ethyleneglycol). Size and morphology of the nanoparticles are determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements while the crystal structure is identified using X-ray diffraction (XRD). Surface charge and surface coating of the nanoparticles are recognized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) and zeta potential measurements. Magnetic properties are determined using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) measurements. The results show that as-prepared magnetite nanoparticles are relatively monodisperse, single crystalline and superparamagnetic in nature with the blocking temperature at around 100 K. The magnetite nanoparticles are found to be highly soluble in water due to steric and electrostatic interactions between the particles arising by the surface adsorbed tri(ethyleneglycol) molecules and associated positive charges, respectively. Cytotoxicity studies on human cervical (SiHa), mouse melanoma (B16F10) and mouse primary fibroblast cells demonstrate that up to a dose of 80 μg/ml, the magnetic nanoparticles are nontoxic to the cells. Specific absorption rate (SAR) value has been calculated to be 885 and 539 W/gm for samples with the iron concentration of 1 and 0.5 mg/ml, respectively. The high SAR value upon exposure to 20 MHz radiofrequency signifies the applicability of as-prepared magnetite nanoparticles for a feasible magnetic hyperthermia treatment.  相似文献

In this work, a temperature sensitive functional fluid was synthesized, and then its movement under the influence of magnetic field was investigated. Silica coated FeNbVB particles, prepared by chemical synthesis, were dispersed into liquid gallium, because they have a relatively high magnetization and a high temperature dependency. The synthesized functional fluid (solid fraction of 0.3 mass%) showed temperature dependence for magnetization within the testing temperature range between 298 and 353 K. The movement of gallium based fluid under the influence of the magnetic field with a magnetic field gradient was observed at various temperatures. We found that at 318 K, fluid displacement of the synthesized functional fluid is better when compared with the fluid displacement at 348 K.  相似文献

We investigated the magnetic behavior of nanosized zinc ferrite with the help of vibrating sample magnetometry and in-field Mössbauer spectroscopy. The nanoparticles of zinc ferrite with crystallite size ranging from 10 to 62 nm were synthesized by a nitrate method. The structure and phase were determined with the help of X-ray diffraction. Attributes of cation inversion were found with the calculated values of lattice parameter. The saturation magnetization decreases with the increase in crystallite size at room temperature, while these values are almost the same at 10 K for all the samples except the one with crystallite size of 10 nm. The thermal magnetization measurement shows a decrease in blocking temperature with increase in particle size for these samples. The synthesized samples exhibit the presence of antiferromagnetic ordering below the blocking temperature as investigated by in-field Mössbauer spectroscopy.  相似文献

We report on the synthesis of Zn0.7Ni0.3Fe2O4 nanoparticles via microwave assisted combustion route by using urea as fuel. XRD and FT-IR analyses confirm the composition and structure as spinel ferrite. The crystallite size estimated from XRD (16.4 nm) and the magnetic core size (15.04 nm) estimated from VSM agree well, while a slightly smaller magnetic diameter reflects a very thin magnetically dead layer on the surface of the nanoparticles. Morphological investigation of the products was done by TEM which revealed the existence of irregular shapes such spherical, spherodial and polygon. Magnetization measurements performed on Zn0.7Ni0.3Fe2O4 nanoparticles showed that saturation was not attained at even in the high magnetic field. The sample shows superparamagnetic behavior at around the room temperature and ferromagnetic behavior below the blocking temperature which is measured as 284 K.  相似文献

Ag nanoparticles, synthesized employing the electro-exploding wire technique, are reported. Absorption in the UV-visible region by these particles is characterized by the features reported in the literature, namely, a possible plasmon peak at ∼404 nm. For Ag nanoparticles dispersed in water, photo-excitation in the ranges 210-235 and 255-280 nm produces similar fluorescence emission at ∼300 nm, whose corresponding resonant absorption takes place at 215 and 270 nm in the excitation spectra. Further, we study the effect of the surrounding medium (solvent effect) on fluorescence from these nanoparticles by comparing fluorescence emission in methanol and hexane for photo-excitation in the same range. Compared to water, fluorescence emission in methanol is observed red-shifted at ∼310 nm, which further red-shifts to ∼325 nm in hexane. The corresponding resonant absorptions in methanol are at 225 and 275 nm. Consequence of this red-shift in a less polar solvent is discussed.  相似文献
