Investigations were performed on laser-assisted ion emission when a copper target was irradiated with a Nd:YAG laser (1.064 μm 10 mJ and 1.1 MW). Charge states present in the ion core emitted from plasma were determined employing Faraday cup arrangement using a four-channel 500 MHz Digital Storage Oscilloscope YOKOGAWA DL 1740. The Thomson parabola scattering (TPS) technique was used to measure the energy of ions emitted from plasma. Singly charged positive ions were found to be in excessive amount. For the energy analysis, the ion beam was collimated using a pinhole arrangement. The collimated beam was then made to pass through a uniform magnetic field of 0.4 T. A solid-state nuclear track detector PM-355 was used to register the ion tracks. The energy of ions, found to be in the range of 9–50 keV. The ion energy spectra d 2 N/dEdΩ show a decreasing trend with increasing ion energy. The empirical relation dN/dEE ?n fits well with the experimental data at higher values of energy, i.e., greater than 20 keV.  相似文献

An ion-beam method to modify the track membrane surface is suggested. An ion gun based on a magnetron sputterer is developed. This gun provides ion energies in the range of 5 eV–1 keV, ion current density up to 0.8 mA/cm2, and an ion beam aperture of 90 mm. After the track membrane surface has been irradiated by argon ions with an energy of 50–100 eV, the angle of surface-water contact decreases from 65°–75° to 10°–25°. If the irradiating ion energy is 300–800 eV, the angle of contact increases from 65°–75° to 90°–100°.  相似文献

X-rays and forward ion emission from laser-generated plasma in the Target Normal Sheath Acceleration regime of different targets with 10-μm thickness, irradiated at Prague Asterix Laser System (PALS) laboratory at about 1016 W/cm2 intensity, employing a 1,315 nm-wavelength laser with a 300-ps pulse duration, are investigated. The photon and ion emissions were mainly measured using Silicon Carbide (SiC) detectors in time-of-flight configuration and X-ray streak camera imaging. The results show that the maximum proton acceleration value and the X-ray emission yield growth are proportional to the atomic number of the irradiated targets. The X-ray emission is not isotropic, with energies increasing from 1 keV for light atomic targets to about 2.5 keV for heavy atomic targets. The laser focal position significantly influences the X-ray emission from light and heavy irradiated targets, indicating the possible induction of self-focusing effects when the laser beam is focalized in front of the light target surface and of electron density enhancement for focalization inside the target.  相似文献

Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) is well established technique for heating tokamak plasma and is used in all fusion research programs [1–2]. In our Steady state Superconducting Tokamak (SST) machine [3], neutral hydrogen beam power of 0.5 MW at 30 kV is required to raise plasma ion temperature of ∼1 keV. Future upgrade of the SST will require 1.7 MW of Ho at 55 kV. To fulfill this requirement, an ion extractor system (heart of any NBI system) has been designed to extract 35A H+ beam current at 30 kV and of 90 A at 55 kV respectively [4]. In this paper, we have described the physics and ion beam optics study for an ion extraction system suitable for above mentioned long dynamic range of acceleration voltage. The ion beam optics simulation result is used as an input to the engineering design. After fabrication, its performance test has been done. The experimental results are in very good agreement with beam optics simulation.  相似文献

Dust grains that are present in many plasma and vacuum systems and in the space usually carry a non-negligible charge. Their charging significantly depends on surface properties of the grain material. In cold plasma, charging is mainly given by electron attachment, nevertheless, when plasma becomes hot, other processes (secondary electron emission, field emission, etc.) take place. Emission properties of the grain surface could be modified by grain baking or by ion bombardment. Our study is carried out at the dust charging experiment dealing with a single dust grain electro-dynamically levitated in a 3D quadrupole trap. The grain can be exposed to the ion beam in the energy range of 100 eV–5 keV and to the electron beam in the energy range of 100 eV–10 keV. We have chosen He+ and Ar+ ions for the surface treatment and the observed influence on the surface properties is discussed in terms of secondary emission. A non-negligible shift of the secondary electron emission yield, as well as a change of energy distribution of secondary electrons, were measured after Ar+ bombardment. A preliminary study suggests that the effects of He+ and Ar+ are comparable.  相似文献

We have described the results of numerical investigations of different versions of a three-electrode elementary slit cell for the formation a hydrogen ion beam with a relatively low energy and a high emission current density. The version of the cell chosen from the results of these investigations makes it possible to obtain a hydrogen atom beam with an energy of 15 keV, an ion current density of ~500 mA/cm2, and an angular divergence of 24 mrad.  相似文献

The possibility of using a plasma accelerator based on a pulsed Hall ion source to study the characteristics of pd, dd, d3He, 3He, and4He reactions in the astrophysical energy range (2–12 keV) has been considered. The preliminary experimental data on measurement of the astrophysical S factor for the dd reaction (dd → 3He + n (2.5 MeV)) at average deuteron collision energies E col = 4.5 and 4.95 keV and the deuteron beam energy spread FWHM = 18% are reported. The found value of the S factor is in agreement with the results of the experiments carried out by us previously using linear plasma in the inverse Z-pinch configuration.  相似文献

A gold target has been irradiated with a Q-switched Nd:Yag laser having 1064?nm wavelength, 9?ns pulse width, 900?mJ maximum pulse energy and a maximum power density of the order of 1010?W/cm2. The laser–target interaction produces a strong gold etching with production of a plasma in front of the target. The plasma contains neutrals and ions having a high charge state. Time-of-flight (TOF) measurements are presented for the analysis of the ion production and ion velocity. A cylindrical electrostatic deflection ion analyzer permits measurement of the yield of the emitted ions, their charge state and their ion energy distribution. Measurements indicate that the ion charge state reaches 6+ and 10+ at a laser fluence of 100?J/cm2 and 160?J/cm2, respectively. The maximum ion energy reaches about 2?keV and 8?keV at these low and high laser fluences, respectively. Experimental ion energy distributions are given as a function of the ion charge state. Obtained results indicate that electrical fields, produced in the plume, along the normal to the plane of the target surface, exist in the unstable plasma. The electrical fields induce ion acceleration away from the target with a final velocity dependent on the ion charge state. The ion velocity distributions follow a “shifted Maxwellian distribution”, which the authors have corrected for the Coulomb interactions occurring inside the plasma.  相似文献

The cross section of the reaction D(4He, γ)6Li with titanium and zirconium deuterides as targets is measured for incident 4He+ ion energies of 30 and 36 keV, respectively. The ion beam is generated by a Hall pulsed plasma accelerator. For the first time, upper limits on the cross section of the reaction D(4He, γ)6Li at ultralow energies are imposed (at 90% confidence level): σ ≤ 1.2 × 10?35 cm2 for the TiD2 target and E(4He+) = 30 keV, and σ ≤ 7 × 10?36 cm2 for the ZrD2 target and E(4He+) = 36 keV  相似文献

采用数值模拟的方法研究中性束辐射光谱(BES)对开展与中性束相关的光谱诊断与实验有重要的指导意义.本文在HL-2A托卡马克装置上利用ADAS数据库(Atomic Data and Analysis Structure,1998)计算有效束辐射系数和有效束衰减系数,分析了束辐射光谱强度与等离子体运行参数和中性束参数的关系,并在不同的中性束注入能量、等离子体密度分布和等离子体温度分布的情况下,获得了束辐射光谱强度的空间分布.在ne=2×1013 cm< 关键词: 中性束 束辐射光谱 束衰减  相似文献

Secondary ion mass spectrometric methods were used to study the effect of incident ion energy on atomic mixing in subsurface layers. A Ta2O5 film containing a 50 A 3lP-rich layer 230 A below the surface was depth profiled for phosphorus using normal incidence 160 primary particles of various energies (1.75 to 18.5 keV). A pronounced energy effect was observed in the widths of 31P profiles generated by >4 keV 16O. For 18.5 keV 16O, the observed profile contained two distinct components-the 31P-rich layer and the 31P recoil distribution. This later condition, prevails when the peak of the incident ion damage distribution occurs at a depth which equal or exceeds the distance from the surface to the 31P-rich layer. The desirable primary ion beam energy for characterizing the true elemental distribution is dictated by the shape and location of the layer to be profited. In most instances, a low energy beam is preferred.  相似文献

The energy loss of charged particles, including electrons, protons, and α-particles with tens keV initial energy E0, traveling in the hot dense carbon(C) plasma for densities from 2.281 to 22.81 g/cm3 and temperatures from 400 to 1500 eV is systematically and quantitatively studied by using the dimensional continuation method. The behaviors of different charged particles are readily distinguishable from each other. Firstly, because an ion is thousands times heavier than an electron, the penetration distance of the electron is much longer than that of proton and α-particle traveling in the plasma. Secondly, most energy of electron projectile with E0 100 keV deposits into the electron species of C plasma, while for the cases of proton and α-particle with E0 100 keV,about more than half energy transfers into the ion species of C plasma. A simple decreasing law of the penetration distance as a function of the plasma density is fitted, and different behaviors of each projectile particle can be clearly found from the fitted data.We believe that with the advanced progress of the present experimental technology, the findings shown here could be confirmed in ion-stopping experiments in the near future.  相似文献

Multiple energy dispersion structures of H+ ions that were observed at the passage of the INTERBALL-Auroral satellite through the plasma sheet at a geocentric distance of about 3R E, where R E is the radius of the Earth, on November 3, 1996, have been analyzed. The structure in the plasma sheet boundary layer, which has direct dispersion in energy and invariant latitude, in the range of 0.5–10.0 keV (velocity-dispersed ion structure) is an “autograph” of accelerated ion beams (primary beamlets) generated in the current sheet along the geomagnetic tail. The central plasma sheet contains five dispersion structures c1–c5 with the average energy ranging from 2.80 to 7.36 keV. The average energy of the structures increases with a decrease in the latitude. The event under consideration is a case of the regime of formation of the central plasma sheet by echo beamlets of the accelerated ion beam in the absence of a diffusion thermalized population of ions. This phenomenon is possibly explained by the fact that a magnetically quite period was observed three days before the passage of the satellite, when the regime of long-term diffusion of particles from the central plasma sheet occurred.  相似文献

Pulsed cathodoluminescence (PCL) of CeF3 crystals was studied using a KLAVI-type setup. PCL was excited by bombarding samples in air at room temperature using a 2-ns pulsed electron beam at an electron energy of 170 keV, current density of 160 A/cm2, and repetition rate of 2.5 Hz. Luminescence and phosphorescence were observed in the UV and visible spectral regions. The phosphorescence is tentatively associated with the Ce2+ ion formation.  相似文献

The physicomechanical properties of the surface of the Zr-1% Nb zirconium alloy modified by a pulsed carbon ion beam with a pulse duration of 80 ns, an energy of 200 keV, and a current density of 120 A/cm2 are studied at four regimes having different numbers of pulses. Irradiation by a carbon ion beam results in hardening of the surface layer to a depth of 2 μm, grain refinement to 0.15–0.8 μm, zirconium carbide formation, and a decrease in the hydrogen permeability of the zirconium alloy.  相似文献

Results of studying low-energy nuclear reactions at the HELIS facility (LPI) are presented. Investigations of yields from DD reactions in deuterated crystal structures at deuteron energies of 10 to 25 keV show a considerable enhancement effect. It is shown that exposure of the deuterated targets to the Н+ (proton) and Ne+ beams with energies from 10 to 25 keV and an X-ray beam with the energy of 20 to 30 keV stimulates DD reaction yields. For the CVD diamond target, it is shown that its orientation with respect to the deuteron beam affects the neutron yield. The D+ beam is shown to cause much higher heat release in the TiDx target than the Н+ and Ne+ beams, and this heat release depends on the deuterium concentration in the target and the current density of the deuteron beam.  相似文献

The accelerator complex of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) consists of a H linear accelerator (linac) and a rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS). The linac contains a Penning surface H ion source. The designed energy and the beam current of the source are 50 keV and 20 mA respectively, with a normalized root mean square (norm. rms.) emittance of 0.2π mm mrad. The manufactures and tests of the discharge chamber are in great progress. The construction of H ion source test stand has been completed, and the operation of the source is also in progress. Stable H ion beams with energy of 50 keV and current up to 50 mA are attained. Emittance measurement for the H beam is being prepared.
