A commutative ring R with identity is condensed (respectively strongly condensed) if for each pair of ideals I, J of R, IJ = {ij | i ∈ I, j ∈ J} (resp., IJ = iJ for some i ∈ I or IJ = Ij for some j ∈ J). In a similar fashion we can define regularly condensed and regularly strongly condensed rings by restricting I and J to be regular ideals. We show that an arbitrary product of rings is condensed if and only if each factor is so, and that R[X] is condensed if and only if R is von Neumann regular. A number of results known in the domain case are extended to the ring case. Regularly strongly condensed and one-dimensional regularly condensed Noetherian rings are characterized.  相似文献

The reflexive property for ideals was introduced by Mason and has important roles in noncommutative ring theory. We in this note study rings with the reflexivity whose axis is given by maximal ideals (simply, an RM ring) which are a generalization of symmetric rings. It is first shown that the reflexivity of a ring and the RM ring property are independent of each other, noting that both of them are generalizations of ideal-symmetric rings. We connect RM rings with reflexive rings in various situations raised naturally in the procedure. As a generalization of RM rings, we also study the structure of the reflexivity with the maximal ideal axis on idempotents (simply, an RMI ring) and then investigate the structure of minimal non-Abelian RMI rings (with or without identity) up to isomorphism.  相似文献

We call a ring R a right SA-ring if for any ideals I and J of R there is an ideal K of R such that r(I) + r(J) = r(K). This class of rings is exactly the class of rings for which the lattice of right annihilator ideals is a sublattice of the lattice of ideals. The class of right SA-rings includes all quasi-Baer (hence all Baer) rings and all right IN-rings (hence all right selfinjective rings). This class is closed under direct products, full and upper triangular matrix rings, certain polynomial rings, and two-sided rings of quotients. The right SA-ring property is a Morita invariant. For a semiprime ring R, it is shown that R is a right SA-ring if and only if R is a quasi-Baer ring if and only if r(I) + r(J) = r(IJ) for all ideals I and J of R if and only if Spec(R) is extremally disconnected. Examples are provided to illustrate and delimit our results.  相似文献

Mason introduced the reflexive property for ideals, and then this concept was generalized by Kim and Baik, defining idempotent reflexive right ideals and rings. In this article, we characterize aspects of the reflexive and one-sided idempotent reflexive properties, showing that the concept of idempotent reflexive ring is not left-right symmetric. It is proved that a (right idempotent) reflexive ring which is not semiprime (resp., reflexive), can always be constructed from any semiprime (resp., reflexive) ring. It is also proved that the reflexive condition is Morita invariant and that the right quotient ring of a reflexive ring is reflexive. It is shown that both the polynomial ring and the power series ring over a reflexive ring are idempotent reflexive. We obtain additionally that the semiprimeness, reflexive property and one-sided idempotent reflexive property of a ring coincide for right principally quasi-Baer rings.  相似文献

Abstract

As defined by Nicholson [Nicholson, W. K. (1977). Lifting idempotents and exchange rings. Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 229:269–278] an element of a ring R is clean if it is the sum of a unit and an idempotent, and a subset A of R is clean if every element of A is clean. It is shown that a semiprimitive Gelfand ring R is clean if and only if Max(R) is zero-dimensional; if and only if for each M ∈ Max(R), the intersection all prime ideals contained in M is generated by a set of idempotents. We also give several equivalent conditions for clean functional rings. In fact, a functional ring R is clean if and only if the set of clean elements is closed under sum; if and only if every zero-divisor is clean; if and only if; R has a clean prime ideal.  相似文献

A ring R with identity is called “clean” if for every element a ? R there exist an idempotent e and a unit u in R such that a = e + u. Let C(R) denote the center of a ring R and g(x) be a polynomial in the polynomial ring C(R)[x]. An element r ? R is called “g(x)-clean” if r = s + u where g(s) = 0 and u is a unit of R and R is g(x)-clean if every element is g(x)-clean. A nonempty simple connected graph G is called a uniquely determined graph, if distinct vertices of G have distinct neighborhoods. We prove that if R is a commutative ring, then Γ(R) is uniquely determined if and only if either R is a Boolean ring or T(R) is a local ring with x2 = 0 for any x ∈ Z(R), where T(R) is the total quotient ring of R. We determine all the corresponding rings with characteristic p for any finite complete graph, and in particular, give all the corresponding rings of Kn if n + 1 = pq for some primes p, q. Finally, we show that a graph G with more than two vertices has a unique corresponding zero-divisor semigroup if G is a zero-divisor graph of some Boolean ring.  相似文献

Let R be a ring with an endomorphism α and an α-derivation δ. We introduce the notions of symmetric α-rings and weak symmetric α-rings which are generalizations of symmetric rings and weak symmetric rings, respectively, discuss the relations between symmetricα-rings and related rings and investigate their extensions. We prove that if R is a reduced ring and α(1) = 1, then R is a symmetric α-ring if and only if R[x]/(x n) is a symmetric ˉα-ring for any positive integer n. Moreover, it is proven that if R is a right Ore ring, α an automorphism of R and Q(R) the classical right quotient ring of R, then R is a symmetric α-ring if and only if Q(R) is a symmetric ˉα-ring. Among others we also show that if a ring R is weakly 2-primal and(α, δ)-compatible, then R is a weak symmetric α-ring if and only if the Ore extension R[x; α, δ] of R is a weak symmetric ˉα-ring.  相似文献

In this article we investigate the transfer of the notions of elementary divisor ring, Hermite ring, Bezout ring, and arithmetical ring to trivial ring extensions of commutative rings by modules. Namely, we prove that the trivial ring extension R: = A ? B defined by extension of integral domains is an elementary divisor ring if and only if A is an elementary divisor ring and B = qf(A); and R is an Hermite ring if and only if R is a Bezout ring if and only if A is a Bezout domain and qf(A) = B. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for R = A ? E to be an arithmetical ring when E is a nontorsion or a finitely generated A ? module. As an immediate consequences, we show that A ? A is an arithmetical ring if and only if A is a von Neumann regular ring, and A ? Q(A) is an arithmetical ring if and only if A is a semihereditary ring.  相似文献

In this note, a hereditary radical property, called homomorphically reduced rings, is introduced, observed, and applied. The dual concept of this property is also studied with the help of Courter, proving that any ring R (possibly without identity) has an ideal S such that S/K is not homomorphically reduced for each proper ideal K of S; and if L is an ideal of R with L ? S, then L/H is homomorphically reduced for some ideal H of R with H ? L. The concept of the homomorphical reducedness is shown to be equivalent to the left (right) weak regularity and the (strong) regularity for one-sided duo rings. It is proved that homomorphically reduced rings have several useful properties similar to those of (weakly) regular rings. It is proved that the homomorphical reducedness can go up to classical quotient rings. It is shown that if R is a reduced right Ore ring with the ascending chain condition (ACC) for annihilator ideals, then the maximal right quotient ring of R is strongly regular (hence homomorphically reduced).  相似文献

Throughout G will denote a free Abelian group and Z(R) the right singular ideal of a ring R. A ring R is a Cl-ring if R is (Goldie) right finite dimensional, R/Z(R) is semiprime, Z(R) is rationally closed, and Z(R) contains no closed uniform right ideals. We prove that R is a Cl-ring if and only if the group ring RG is a C1-ring. If RG has the additional property that bRG is dense whenever b is a right nonzero-divisor, then the complete ring of quotients of RG is a classical ring of quotients.  相似文献

In this note we continue to study zero divisors in power series rings and polynomial rings over general noncommutative rings. We first construct Armendariz rings which are not power-serieswise Armendariz, and find various properties of (power-serieswise) Armendariz rings. We show that for a semiprime power-serieswise Armendariz (so reduced) ring R with a.c.c. on annihilator ideals, R[[x]] (the power series ring with an indeterminate x over R) has finitely many minimal prime ideals, say B 1,…,B m , such that B 1B m  = 0 and B i  = A i [[x]] for some minimal prime ideal A i of R for all i, where A 1,…,A m are all minimal prime ideals of R. We also prove that the power-serieswise Armendarizness is preserved by the polynomial ring extension as the Armendarizness, and construct various types of (power-serieswise) Armendariz rings.  相似文献
