In this paper, a new approach based on parameterization method is presented for calculation of curvature on the free surface flows. In some phenomena such as droplet and bubble, surface tension is prominent. Therefore in these cases, accurate estimation of the curvature is vital. Volume of fluid (VOF) is a surface capturing method for free surface modeling. In this method, free surface curvature is calculated based on gradient of scalar transport parameter which is regarded as original method in this paper. However, calculation of curvature for a circle and other known geometries based on this method is not accurate. For instance, in practice curvature of a circle in interface cells is constant, while this method predicts different curvatures for it. In this research a novel algorithm based on parameterization method for improvement of the curvature calculation is presented. To show the application of parameterization method, two methods are employed. In the first approach denoted by, three line method, a curve is fitted to the free surface so that the distance between curve and linear interface approximation is minimized. In the second approach namely four point method, a curve is fitted to intersect points with grid lines for central and two neighboring cells. These approaches are treated as calculus of variation problems. Then, using the parameterization method, these cases are converted into the sequences of time-varying nonlinear programming problems. With some treatments a conventional equivalent model is obtained. It is finally proved that the solution of these sequences in the models tends to the solution of the calculus of variation problems. For verification of the presented methods, curvature of some geometrical shapes such as circle, elliptic and sinusoidal profile is calculated and compared with original method used in VOF process and analytical solutions. Finally, as a more practical problem, spurious currents are studied. The results showed that more accurate curve prediction is obtained by these approaches than the original method in VOF approach.  相似文献

This paper illustrates the using of orthogonal polynomials to modify the Adomian decomposition method. The method of employing Legendre polynomials to improve the Adomian decomposition method is presented here and compared to the method of using Chebyshev polynomials. The presented modified Adomian decomposition method is validated through an example and advantage as well as efficiency of this method is verified through investigating and comparing the results. In this paper, it is concluded that both orthogonal polynomials: Chebyshev and Legendre polynomials can be successfully used for the Adomian decomposition method and comparatively the Chebyshev expansion provides the better estimation.  相似文献

In Bayesian analysis of multidimensional scaling model with MCMC algorithm, we encounter the indeterminacy of rotation, reflection and translation of the parameter matrix of interest. This type of indeterminacy may be seen in other multivariate latent variable models as well. In this paper, we propose to address this indeterminacy problem with a novel, offline post-processing method that is easily implemented using easy-to-use Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) software. Specifically, we propose a post-processing method based on the generalized extended Procrustes analysis to address this problem. The proposed method is compared with four existing methods to deal with indeterminacy thorough analyses of artificial as well as real datasets. The proposed method achieved at least as good a performance as the best existing method. The benefit of the offline processing approach in the era of easy-to-use MCMC software is discussed.  相似文献

Composite penalty method of a low order anisotropic nonconforming quadrilateral finite element for the Stokes problem is presented. This method with a large penalty parameter can achieve the same accuracy as the stand method with a small penalty parameter and the convergence rate of this method is two times as that of the standard method under the condition of the same order penalty parameter. The superconvergence for velocity is established as well. The results of this paper are also valid to the most of the known nonconforming finite element methods.  相似文献

An improved meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method (MLPG) for stress analysis of two-dimensional solids is presented in this paper. The MLPG method based on the moving least-squares approximation is one of the recent meshless approaches. However, accurate imposition of essential boundary conditions in the MLPG method often presents difficulties because the MLPG shape functions does not possess the Kronecker delta property. In order to eliminate this shortcoming, this approach uses the moving Kriging interpolation instead of the traditional moving least-square approximation to construct the MLPG shape functions, and then, the Heaviside step function is used as the test function over a local sub-domain. In this method, the essential boundary conditions can be enforced as the FEM, no domain integration is needed and only regular boundary integration is involved. In addition, the sensitivity of several important parameters of the present method is mainly studied and discussed. Comparing with the original meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method, the present method has simpler numerical procedures and lower computation cost. The effectiveness of the present method for two-dimensional solids problem is investigated by numerical examples in this paper.  相似文献
