We present a model of parallel Lévy-driven queues that mix their output into a final product; whatever cannot be mixed is sold on the open market for a lower price. The queues incur holding and capacity costs and can choose their processing rates. We solve the ensuing centralized (system optimal) and decentralized (individual station optimal) profit optimization problems. In equilibrium the queues process work faster than desirable from a system point of view. Several model extensions are also discussed.  相似文献

针对市场需求的不确定性和供应商产出产品合格率的不确定性,提出供应商产出量小于销售商订购量时需再生产满足销售商的订购,以及供应商生产过量和回购的产品通过折扣市场出售,建立以供应链期望利润为目标函数,以回购单价为决策变量的供应链回购契约决策模型.通过模型的分析,证明了模型存在最优的期望利润,给出了最优回购单价满足的方程;同时,也证明了最优订购量,最优生产量和销售商最优期望利润是回购单价的增函数.最后,通过算例验证了模型的有效性.  相似文献

Economic manufacturing quantity, process mean, and specification limits setting are three important methods for the inventory and quality control problems. In the imperfect production system, we usually consider the manufacturing quantity for reducing the inventory cost, determine the process level for reducing the production cost, and select the specification limits for screening the products. In this paper, we propose the above integrated model based on the application of rectifying inspection plan for obtaining maximum expected total profit of product. The asymmetric quadratic quality loss function is adopted for measuring the product quality. The sensitivity analyses of parameters are provided for illustration.  相似文献

We discuss a case study of an industrial production-marketing coordination problem involving component commonality. For the product line considered, the strategic goal of the company is to move from the current low volume market to a high volume market. The marketing department believes that this can be achieved by substantially lowering the end products’ prices. However, this requires a product redesign to lower production costs in order to maintain profit margins. The redesign decision involves grouping end products into families. All products within one family use the same version of some components. This paper fits in the stream of recent literature on component commonality where the focus has shifted from inventory cost savings to production and development cost savings. Further, we consider both costs and revenues, leading to a profit maximization approach. The price elasticity of demand determines the relationship between the price level and number of units sold. Consequently, we integrate information from different functional areas such as production, marketing and accounting. We formulate the problem as a net-present-value investment decision. We propose a mixed integer nonlinear optimization model to find the optimal commonality decision. The recommendation based on our analysis has been implemented in the company. In addition, the application allows us to experimentally validate some claims made in the literature and obtain managerial insights into the trade-offs.  相似文献

随着产品同质化程度不断提升,完善的质保服务已成为厂商提升品牌形象、刺激用户购买需求和全面反馈市场信息的主要途径。本文以具有退化特性的耐用品为研究对象,建立了视情维修条件下性能退化的维纳过程模型,考虑产品价格、质保期长度和维修费用承担比例对产品需求的影响,以最大化厂商利润为目标,确定了最优的质保期长度和维修费用承担比例。结合算例,比较了无视情维修和提供视情维修两种情形下对应的厂商利润,并分析了产品退化速率、成本参数和产品价格对利润的影响。研究结果表明,在质保服务范围内提供合理的视情维修服务既可将产品可靠性维持在一个较高水平,又可显著提升厂商利润。  相似文献

We study Merton’s portfolio optimization problem in a limit order market. An investor trading in a limit order market has the choice between market orders that allow immediate transactions and limit orders that trade at more favorable prices but are executed only when another market participant places a corresponding market order. Assuming Poisson arrivals of market orders from other traders we use a shadow price approach, similar to Kallsen and Muhle-Karbe (Ann Appl Probab, forthcoming) for models with proportional transaction costs, to show that the optimal strategy consists of using market orders to keep the proportion of wealth invested in the risky asset within certain boundaries, similar to the result for proportional transaction costs, while within these boundaries limit orders are used to profit from the bid–ask spread. Although the given best-bid and best-ask price processes are geometric Brownian motions the resulting shadow price process possesses jumps.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the decision of a firm offering two versions of a product, a deluxe and a regular. While both products satisfy the same market, the deluxe version is sold at a high price relative to its cost and is aimed at the high end of the demand curve. The regular version is sold at a low price relative to its cost and is targeted to customers at the low end of the demand curve. This two-offering strategy is especially popular with book publishers where a paperback book is introduced some time after the hardbound version is introduced. The time between the introduction of the two versions of the product is accompanied by a downward shift in the demand curve due to customers losing interest in the product or satisfying their demand from a secondary used market. We solve a profit maximization model for a firm using a two-offering strategy. The model is solved for linear and exponential deterioration in demand, which is assumed to be deterministic. Also, a model with linear deterioration in demand, which is assumed to be stochastic, is solved. The results indicate that substantial improvements in profit can be obtained by using the two-offering strategy. Numerical sensitivity analysis and examples are used to illustrate the results.  相似文献

This paper studies the analytical and managerial implications of product substitutability on the joint pricing and procurement decisions. We consider a single-period model with two products: an existing product and an improved new product that can substitute the demand for the existing product in case of a shortage. Demand for each product follows a general distribution with an expected value that is a linear function of the price of the new product. While the price of the existing product is determined by the market, it is necessary to determine the new product’s price and the procurement quantities of both products so as to maximize the profits. We analytically show that the expected profit function is unimodal and in the existence of substitution: the expected total profit is higher; the optimal price and the safety stock of the new product are higher; and the optimal safety stock of the existing product is less. Using these properties an efficient algorithm is developed. We also provide a numerical analysis to demonstrate that considering substitution in advance could increase the profitability by 58% and the new product price by 5% while decreasing the total procurement quantity by 15%.  相似文献

Setting the optimal process parameters under certain criterion is among the most important factor to determine a product’s profit. In this study, we generalize Taguchi quality model to more general process scenario, which consider multiple input and output quality variables simultaneously. Using the weighted convex loss function, we discuss the optimization of process parameters for Taguchi quality model and a trade-off problem as well. The working requirements for optimization are presented and the examples to illustrate our result are demonstrated.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the impact of finite production capacity on the optimal quality and pricing decisions of a make-to-stock manufacturer. Products are differentiated along a quality index; depending on the price and quality levels of the products offered, customers decide to either buy a given product, or not to buy at all. We show that, assuming fixed exogenous lead times and normally distributed product demands, the optimal solution has a simple structure (this is referred to as the load-independent system). Using numerical experiments, we show that with limited production capacity (which implies load-dependent lead times) the manufacturer may have an incentive to limit the quality offered to customers, and to decrease market coverage, especially in settings where higher product quality leads to higher congestion in production. Our findings reveal that the simple solution assuming load-independent lead times is suboptimal, resulting in a profit loss; yet, this profit loss can be mitigated by constraining the system utilization when deciding on quality and price levels. Our results highlight the importance of the relationship between marketing decisions and load-dependent production lead times.  相似文献

We consider a consignment contract with consumer non-defective returns behavior. In our model, an upstream vendor contracts with a downstream retailer. The vendor decides his consignment price charged to the retailer for each unit sold and his refund price for each returned item, and then the retailer sets her retail price for selling the product. The vendor gets paid based on net sold units and salvages unsold units as well as returned items in a secondary market. Under the framework, we study and compare two different consignment arrangements: the retailer/vendor manages consignment inventory (RMCI/VMCI) programs. To study the impact of return policy, we discuss a consignment contract without return policy as a benchmark. We show that whether or not the vendor offers a return policy, it is always beneficial for the channel to delegate the inventory decision to the vendor. We find that the vendor’s return policy depends crucially on the salvage value of returns. If the product has no salvage value, the vendor’s optimal decision is not to offer a return policy; otherwise, the vendor can gain more profit by offering a return policy when the salvage value turns out to be positive.  相似文献

We consider a supply chain in which a manufacturer sells an innovative durable product to an independent retailer over its life cycle. We assume that the product demand follows a Bass-type diffusion process and that it is determined by the market influences, retail price of the product, and shelf space allocated to it. We consider the following retailer profit optimization strategies: (i) the myopic strategy of maximizing the current-period profit and (ii) the far-sighted strategy of maximizing the life-cycle profit. We characterize the optimal dynamic shelf-space allocation and retail pricing policies for the retailer and wholesale pricing policies for the manufacturer. We compute also these policies numerically. Surprisingly, we find that the manufacturer, and sometimes even the retailer, is better off with a myopic retailer strategy in some cases.  相似文献

When launching a new product, a manufacturer usually sells it through competing retailers under non-exclusive arrangements. Recently, many new products (cellphones, electronics, toys, etc.) are sold through a single sales channel via an exclusive arrangement. In this paper we present two separate models that examine these two arrangements. Each model is based on a Stackelberg game in which the manufacturer acts as the leader by setting the wholesale price and the retailers act as the followers by choosing their retail prices. For each model, we solve the Stackelberg game by determining the manufacturer’s optimal wholesale price and each retailer’s optimal retail price in equilibrium. Then we examine the conditions under which the manufacturer should sell the new product through an exclusive retailer. In addition, we examine the impact of postponing the wholesale price decision and the impact of demand uncertainty on the manufacturer’s optimal profit under both arrangements.  相似文献

We consider a situation in which a manufacturer has to select the product(s) to sell as well as the selling price and production quantity of each selected product. There are two substitutable products in the consideration set, where product 2 has a higher quality and reservation price than that of product 1. By considering the cannibalization effect that depends on the selling price of each product, the manufacturer needs to evaluate the profit function associated with three different product line options: sell both products or only one of the 2 products. In order to examine the impact of costs, capacity, and competition on the optimal product line selection, optimal price, and optimal production quantity analytically, we present a stylized model in this paper so that we can determine the conditions under which a particular option is optimal.  相似文献

随着海外代购体量的日趋增大,代购带来的低价威胁对于在不同国家不同市场销售产品的公司来说已经成为一个日益严重的问题。同时,代购渠道中假货的问题也愈发严重。因此,在海外代购背景下探究产品定价模型具有必要性。以往研究普遍认为这种未经授权的销售会削减品牌方的利润,但实则不然。基于这一发现,本研究为在两个不同市场销售相同产品但面临代购低价威胁的公司制定考虑代购的市场定价模型。由公司制定两个市场的价格,消费者选择是否从包括代购在内的三个渠道购买产品。推出两个授权市场的最优价格,分析各参数变化对最优价格的影响,并校验最优价格对消费者需求和总利润的影响。模型分析表明,高价市场中有部分消费者需求转向海外代购,同时低价市场的消费者需求也受到了影响,且在一定条件下,提高高价市场的产品定价能够扩大低价市场的需求,从代购的角度解释了现实中需求曲线向上倾斜的现象。此外,两个独立市场之间的价格差距对代购市场的销售也产生了积极影响,并且在某些条件下,增大价格差距可以提高公司的收益水平。随后讨论了一种极端模型和三种扩展模型,通过模型分析表示,扩展后的定价模型也显示出与基础市场模型相似的灵敏度分析结果,同样得到两个市场的价差扩大会导致代购市场的销售额增加的结论,并且在一定条件下,公司的利润更高,增加了结论的可信度。  相似文献

针对由一原始设备制造商和一独立再制商所组成的闭环供应链系统,考虑到新品质量水平对独立再制商可回收量的质量约束效应,以及新品与再制品的价格及质量竞争,分别构建了原始设备制造商领导、独立再制商领导、无领导三种不同市场结构下闭环供应链决策模型,探讨了质量约束效应对闭环供应链运营的影响。研究表明:(1)三种市场结构下,新品和再制品两者在“质量水平-价格”两维度均有所差异,且市场地位的不对等有利于产品质量水平的共同提升;(2)质量约束效应的存在会对产品的价格和质量同时产生影响;(3)再制品具有质量劣势,且质量约束效应的增强,再制品质量劣势越大;(4)市场结构的变化及质量约束效应的强弱并不会影响市场总需求量,仅仅会影响成员企业的市场份额;在大多数情况下,消费者对新品需求更为活跃。但当原始设备制造商为市场领导者时,质量约束效应低于一阈值水平时,再制品销量反而高于新品销量;(5)无论从成员个体,还是从供应链整体,原始设备制造商为领导者的市场结构最有效,且新品质量约束效应并不会影响供应链总利润,仅影响成员企业在总利润中的分成;新品质量约束效应的增强更有利于原始设备制造商利润的改善,但同时会损害独立再制商利润。  相似文献

研究了不同博弈模型下制造商产品策略的问题,建立并求解制造商在古诺博弈和斯坦伯格博弈下的模型。通过逆推法求解最优决策,进一步给出了两种博弈模型下的均衡解,并将结果加以对比,得出两种博弈模型对供应商的批发价格和利润、制造商的产品质量和利润的影响。研究表明:供应商的批发价格与博弈模型无关,只和市场规模有关;供应商的利润、制造商的产品质量和利润不仅与博弈模型相关还与制造商的技术创新水平有关。  相似文献

在新的经济形势和高新技术指引下,产品更新换代的速度加快,基于时间的竞争成为供应链竞争的焦点.在制造商为核心的供应链中,产品需求除了与价格有关外,与承诺交货期也有一定关联,且部分客户愿意为快速交货而支付更高价格.当需求与时间及价格具有敏感性且实际完工期服从一定的随机分布时,建立利润最大化及服务水平约束的承诺交货期决策模型,并对模型进行讨论及优化分析.通过算例验证了模型的有效性,通过参数敏感性分析得出的结论是:当客户服务水平达到一定阈值时,最优承诺交货期将发生改变;价格及交货期敏感系数不影响承诺交货期,但影响产品需求及最终利润;最优承诺交货期与单位提早完工成本是反向变动的关系而与单位延迟完工成本是正向变动的关系;随着完工期均值及标准差的不断增大,最优承诺交货期呈上升趋势,利润、市场需求及价格不断下降.  相似文献
