Sampled phase-shift fiber Bragg gratings   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A phase-shift fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with sampling is proposed to generate a multi-channel bandpass filter in the background of multi-channel stopbands.The sampled moiré fiber gratings are analyzed by Fourier transform theory first,and then simulation and experiment are performed,the results show that transmission peaks are opened in every reflective channel,the spectrum shape of every channel is identical.It can be used to fabricate multi-wavelength distributed feedback (DFB) fiber laser.  相似文献

We fabricated distributed-feedback (DFB) solid-state dye lasers with moiré gratings. We formed a moiré grating pattern by superimposing two grating patterns with a rotation angle. The moiré gratings were fabricated by an “etchless” process utilizing a two-beam interference method. The gratings were coated with solidified rhodamine-B. The five laser devices were pumped with the second harmonic generation of a Nd:YAG laser and we obtained narrow-banded laser oscillations at 590, 600, 610, 620, and 630 nm wavelength. Full widths at half maximum of laser spectra were less than 0.5 nm. The results indicated that a moiré fringe can function as a resonator of DFB solid-state dye lasers.  相似文献

A simple method to mechanically induce a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) by a grooved plate is improved. The transmission spectra of a grating under different pressures and other types of gratings are experimentally investigated. This method is simple and reconfigurable and offers large spectra tunability. This type of LPFG has potential applications in gain flattening in erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) and will be of particular use in filter design.  相似文献

Twist characteristics of the ultraviolet-written long period fiber gratings (UV-LPFGs) are investigated in this paper. It was found experimentally that the resonance wavelength of the UV-LPFG shifts to short side proportional to square of the torsion rate, when it is twisted in both directions of clockwise and counter-clockwise, which is different from that of LPFGs written by CO_2 lasers, but similar with that of the corrugated LPFGs. The phenomena can be explained by mechanisms of static compression in twisting and index change caused by photo-elastic effect.  相似文献

Image hiding based on time-averaged fringes produced by non-harmonic oscillations and near-optimal moiré gratings is presented in this paper. The secret image is embedded into the background moiré grating. Phase matching and initial stochastic phase scrambling algorithms are used to encrypt the image. The decoding of the image is completely visual. The embedded secret image appears when the encrypted image is oscillated in a predefined direction, according to a predefined law of motion. No secret is leaked when the encrypted image is oscillated harmonically at any amplitude of oscillation. The criterion of the optimality of a moiré grating serves as a fitness function for evolutionary algorithms which are used to identify a near-optimal moiré grating for image hiding applications. Numerical experiments are used to illustrate the functionality of the method.  相似文献

A technique for compensation of temperature effects in fiber grating sensors is reported. For strain sensors and other sensors related to strain such as electromagnetic sensors, a novel structure is designed, which uses two fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) as strain differential sensor and has temperature effects cancelled. Using this technique, the stress sensitivity has been amplified and gets up to 0.226 nm/N, the total variation in wavelength difference within the range of 3-45 °C is 0.03 nm, 1/14 of the uncompensated FBG. The structure can be used in the temperature-insensitive static strain measurement and minor-vibration measurement.  相似文献

An improved algorithm based on the layer peeling (LP) method is proposed and demonstrated. The new method is shown to be effective for mitigating the impact of numerical errors on reconstruction of coupling function for strongly reflecting Bragg gratings. As examples, a flat-top dispersion-free fiber grating and a fiber-grating dispersion compensator are designed by the improved LP method. For a chirp grating, more accurate results are demonstrated in comparison with those obtained by the integral layer peeling (ILP) method.  相似文献

In this paper, the Yb-doped superfluorescent fiber source (SFS) with cascaded broad fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are reported. The spectral properties of this SFS with cascaded broad FBGs are described and compared with that without cascaded broad FBGs. The analysis of the group delay ripple (GDR) generated by chirped fiber gratings is developed based on the Fabry-Perot (F-P) resonator. It shows clearly how the GDR is generated and why the periods of GDR varies along the chirped fiber gratings. It could also explain why apodization could suppress the GDR and how apodization affects the chirp of the grating. The theory could be used to devise the apodization of fiber gratings.  相似文献

An in-situ end-point detection technique for ion-beam etching is presented. A laser beam of the same wavelength and polarization as those in the intended application of the grating is fed into the vacuum chamber, and the beam retro-diffracted by the grating under etching is extracted and detected outside the chamber. This arrangement greatly simplifies the end-point detection. Modeling the grating diffraction with a rigorous diffraction grating computer program, we can satisfactorily simulate the evolution of the diffraction intensity during the etching process and consequently, we can accurately predict the end-point. Employing the proposed technique, we have reproducibly fabricated multilayer dielectric gratings with diffraction efficiencies of more than 92%.  相似文献

The writing of an internal diffraction grating in optical glass plate is demonstrated using low-density plasma formation excited by a high-intensity femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser. The same diffraction efficiency at ±1,±2, and 0 order is achieved by multiple layers writing. The dependences of diffractive efficiency on the irradiated energy, the speed of writing, the numerical aperture (NA) of the focusing objective, and materials are investigated in detail. The grating is birefringent. It is attributed to residual stress interaction between glass and femtosecond laser pulse.  相似文献

We have synthesized one-dimensionally structured and switchable reverse-mode transmission gratings in polymer-dispersed liquid crystalline materials by holographic exposure technique using the 540 nm wavelength from a solid-state laser. These structures offer the potential for electrically switchable diffractive optical elements, whose functionality can be switched on by applied electric fields. We present results for the diffraction efficiency (η) as functions of curing-time, intensity of the writing-beams, polarizations of the writing, as well as probe beams, and frequency of the electric field. For exposure times much shorter than the time needed for complete-cure of the grating structure, η increases upon application of the electric field; for an electric field of 14 MV/m @1.1 kHz, we observe $\frac{\Delta\eta}{\eta}\sim 1100\%$ with switching time constant of ~15 ms.  相似文献

We present a grating model of two-dimensional(2D)rigorous coupled wave analysis(RCWA)to study top diffraction gratings on light-emitting diodes(LEDs).We compare the integrated-transmission of the non-grating,rectangular-grating,and triangular-grating cases for the same grating period of 6μm,and show that the triangular grating has the best performance.For the triangular grating with 6-μm period, the LED achieves the highest light transmission at 6-μm grating bottom width and 2.9-μm grating depth. Compared with the non-grating case,the optimized light transmission improvement is about 74.6%.The simulation agrees with the experimental data of the thin polymer grating encapsulated flip-chip(FC) GaN-based LEDs for the light extraction improvement.  相似文献

We report all-fiber polarization interference filters, known as Lyot and Lyot-?hman filters, based on alternative concatenation of UV-inscribed fiber gratings with structure tilted at 45° and polarization maintaining (PM) fiber cavities. Such filters generate comb-like transmission of linear polarization output. The free spectral range (FSR) of a single-stage (Lyot) filter is PM fiber cavity length dependent, as a 20 cm long cavity showed a 26.6 nm FSR while the 40 cm one exhibited a 14.8 nm FSR. Furthermore, we have theoretically and experimentally demonstrated all-fiber 2-stage and 3-stage Lyot-?hman filters, giving more freedom in tailoring the transmission characteristics.  相似文献

Novel polymer distributed feedback(DFB)gratings are fabricated based on photopolymerization to reduce lasing threshold of polymer lasers.A photopolymer formulation sensitive to 355-nm ultraviolet(UV)light is proposed for the fabrication of polymer gratings and it can be used to form polymer films by spin-coating process.A very low surface-relief depth ranging from 12.5 to about 1.0 nm has been demonstrated with a refractive-index modulation of about 0.012.The experimental results indicate that such polymer gratings have promising potentials for the fabrication of low-order DFB organic semiconductor lasers.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a dual-channel microfluidic sensor based on a side-hole fiber(SHF)with two longperiod fiber grating(LPFG)structures.There are two air holes in the SHF,which are natural microfluidic channels.We fabricate two LPFGs(long-period gratings LPG-A and LPG-B)in the SHF with the resonance wavelengths of 1268.7 nm and 1385.8 nm,respectively.Results show that the refractive index sensitivities of LPG-A and LPG-B are?76.0 nm/RIU and?71.1 nm/RIU,respectively.One can measure the refractive index of liquid samples in two channels simultaneously.The proposed dual-channel microfluidic sensor has advantages of good linearity response,fluidic technology compatibility,and easy light input/output coupling and system integration,which helps the sensor to have a potential application in environmental detection and food safety detection.  相似文献

Modal analysis of the 1×3 highly efficient reflective triangular grating operating in the 800 nm wavelength under normal incidence for TE polarization is presented in this Letter.The rigorous coupled wave analysis and simulated annealing algorithm are used to design this beam splitter.The reflective grating consists of a highly reflective mirror and a transmission grating on the top.The mechanism of the reflective triangular grating is clarified by the simplified modal method.Then,gratings are fabricated by direct laser writing lithography.  相似文献
