Conceptual metaphors for isomorphism and homomorphism: Instructors’ descriptions for themselves and when teaching

Group isomorphism and homomorphism are topics central to abstract algebra, yet research on instructors’ views of these concepts is limited. Based on interviews from two instructors as well as classroom video from eight class periods, this paper examines the language used to discuss isomorphism and homomorphism. Language used by instructors in interviews and classroom settings are identified and classified into four main categories: formal definition, mapping, sameness, and combinations of sameness and mapping language. How the two instructors drew on language classified into those four categories in the interview and instruction settings are examined for isomorphism and homomorphism. Similarities and differences between the interview and instruction contexts reveal the wide variety of ways of understanding isomorphism and homomorphism as well as a research need to examine mathematicians’ content knowledge in more than one context.     

How do we understand mathematical practices in non-mathematical fields? Reflections inspired by cases from 12th and 13th century China

Recent studies of the history of mathematics have shed light on the diversity of mathematical practices in the ancient world. In this article, I address this issue from two perspectives. First, I analyze different mathematical instruments used in different domains in 12^th and 13^th century China. Second, by analyzing how the text is related to the problems written down in the same period, I argue that there existed two categories of mathematical problems. As a result, I suggest that problems, textual procedures, and material operations should be considered together when regarding various mathematical practices in mathematical and non-mathematical fields.     

关注长江水质——“绿行之踪”社会实践

2018年和2019年小学期,厦门大学本科生"绿行之踪"社会实践队赴重庆、上海等长江流域主要城市进行社会实践活动,采集了当地的水样,测定了水样中的磷酸根含量和高锰酸盐指数,同时进行了水资源保护的宣传活动和网络问卷调查。     

THE COURSE OF “STRUCTURAL MODEL DESIGN AND FABRICATION”

“知行统一” 的观念在教育界已深入人心,但是要做到切实履行却非易事。经过为期九年的精心打造,上海交通大学开设的创新型实践课程“结构模型设计与制作” 初步实现了“学与行” 的有机融合,教学效果显著,深受学生欢迎。本文是对该课程的总结与反思,希望对我国相关工科教学改革起到有益的借鉴作用。     

地方高校高分子材料与工程专业生产实习协同创新模式探讨

地方高校已成为我国高等教育的重要组成部分,由于办学目标、生源构成、服务地区不同于部属高校,其生产实习教学环节面临各种困境。寻求有效的途径突破生产实习的困境成为当前各地方高校亟待解决的问题。本文以广东工业大学为例,在分析该校的办学特点以及高分子材料与工程专业近年来生产实习状况的基础上,介绍该校以大学联盟为平台的生产实习新模式,并详细说明其实施方案。该模式基于该校的协同创新战略,已取得良好的教学效果。     

Field-based hypotheses on advancing standards for mathematical practice

The Common Core State Standards in Mathematics (CCSSM, 2010) are organized around two types of standards: the standards for mathematical content and standards for mathematical practice. The central goal of this paper is to present cognitive and instructional analyses of standards for mathematical practice through a discussion of field-based activities with inservice secondary mathematics teachers and students. A potential value of the study is that it provides researchers with specific field-based hypotheses on advancing standards for mathematical practice.     

化学STSE教学:指向关键能力的实践活动*——以手工醋与勾兑醋的区分实践活动为例

近年来STSE教育即以科学、技术、社会和环境4者的协调性为基础的综合实践活动教学理念在历年的高考试题中的试题量和分值所占比例逐步上升,它是提升学生必备品格、培养学生关键能力、帮助学生针对公共生活中利与弊皆有的两难问题做出正确选择的有效抓手,是发展学生化学学科核心素养不可或缺的重要组成部分。基于STSE 的初中学生化学教学综合实践活动学习,为初中学生进入高中阶段,快速发展化学学科核心素养打下良好的基础。     

农林院校校外实验教学基地分类考评机制及考评指标改革研究——大学化学校外实践基地实证分析*

针对大学化学校外实践教学基地建设和运行过程中的基地与高校的协同管理机制,实践教学基地软硬条件建设和资源配置及实践教学与理论学习的连贯性等问题,在OBE理论指导下,探究分类考核机制,在实证中构建分层次考评模型及考评指标,并建立适合于农林高校的化学校外实践教学基地的分类考评指标体系。     

风筝设计及其在航空教育实践中的应用

为了使风筝能够更好地在青少年航空教育教学实践中得到推广,本文阐述了风筝构造、空气动力,以及受力与稳定性分析等风筝设计的相关概念与原理,介绍了美国NASA航空教育的风筝设计软件Kite Modeler,以及自己的教育教学实践情况。实践表明,风筝设计、制作、放飞是一项集简易航空器设计、手工制作、体能锻炼、休闲娱乐等为一体的实践活动,在大中小学航空教育中具有良好的现实意义。
