Ab initio composite approaches have been utilized to model and predict main group thermochemistry within 1 kcal mol−1, on average, from well-established reliable experiments, primarily for molecules with less than 30 atoms. For molecules of increasing size and complexity, such as biomolecular complexes, composite methodologies have been limited in their application. Therefore, the domain-based local pair natural orbital (DLPNO) methods have been implemented within the correlation consistent composite approach (ccCA) framework, namely DLPNO-ccCA, to reduce the computational cost (disk space, CPU (central processing unit) time, memory) and predict energetic properties such as enthalpies of formation, noncovalent interactions, and conformation energies for organic biomolecular complexes including one of the largest molecules examined via composite strategies, within 1 kcal mol−1, after calibration with 119 molecules and a set of linear alkanes. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

We present a simple and cost‐effective curvature calculation approach for simulations of interfacial flows on structured and unstructured grids. The interface is defined using volume fractions, and the interface curvature is obtained as a function of the gradients of volume fractions. The gradient computation is based on a recently proposed gradient recovery method that mimicks the least squares approach without the need to solve a system of equations and is quite easy to implement on arbitrary polygonal meshes. The resulting interface curvature is used in a continuum surface force formulation within the framework of a well‐balanced finite‐volume algorithm to simulate multiphase flows dominated by surface tension. We show that the proposed curvature calculation is at least as accurate as some of the existing approaches on unstructured meshes while being straightforward to implement on any mesh topology. Numerical investigations also show that spurious currents in stationary problems that are dependent on the curvature calculation methodology are also acceptably low using the proposed approach. Studies on capillary waves and rising bubbles in viscous flows lend credence to the ability of the proposed method as an inexpensive, robust, and reasonably accurate approach for curvature calculation and numerical simulation of multiphase flows.  相似文献

Novel cobalt complex of 4‐amino‐N‐(6‐chloropyridazin‐3‐yl)benzene sulfonamide (sulfachloropyridazine) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT‐IR spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility (VSM). Cobalt complex of Sulfachloropyridazine (Co‐SCP) crystallized in monoclinic space group P21/n with Z = 4. The structure is solved by direct method and refined to R = 0.099 for 4720 reflections with I ?4σ(I). The results of FT‐IR spectra suggest the binding of cobalt atom to the sulfonamide ligand which is in agreement with the crystal structure determination. In crystal structure, molecule is linked via, C‐H … π, C‐Cl … π and π … π intermolecular interactions. The computational studies like the optimization energy and root means square deviation compare with single crystal structure, frontier molecular orbital (Homo‐Lumo energy) and binding energy of the Co‐SCP has been carried out using DFT/B3LYP level of theory in gaseous phase. Hirshfeld surfaces and the 2D‐fingerprint analysis are performed to study the nature of interactions and their measurable contributions towards crystal packing. The interaction of the complex with DNA is investigated using viscosity measurement and absorption titration studies. The result shows the complex bind to DNA with intercalative mode with high DNA‐binding constant (Kb). Also, in vivo and in vitro cytotoxic studies are performed using S. pombe cells and brine shrimp lethality bioassay. DNA‐cleavage study shows better cleaving ability of the complex.  相似文献

Carbocyclic carbenes (CCCs) are a class of nucleophilic carbenes which are very similar to N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) in terms of their reactivity, but they do not contain a stabilizing heteroatom in their cyclic ring system. In this study, 17 representative known CCCs and 34 newly designed CCCs are evaluated using quantum chemical methods, and the results are compared in terms of their stability, nucleophilicity, and proton affinity (PA) parameters. The results are divided on the basis of ring size of the known and reported CCCs. The stability, nucleophilicity, PA, complexation energy, and bond strength–related parameters were estimated using M06/6-311++G(d,p) method. The results indicated that the CCCs known in the literature are strong σ-electron donating species and have considerable π-accepting properties. This study led to the design and identification of a few new CCCs with dimethylamine and diaminomethynyl substituents which can be singlet stable and are substantially nucleophilic. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

A uniform dispersion of reactants is necessary to achieve a complete reaction involving multicomponents. In this study, we have examined the role of plasticizer in the reaction of two seemingly unlikely reactants: a highly crystalline hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) and a strongly hydrogen bonded phenol formaldehyde resin. By combining information from NMR, infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry, we were able to determine the role of specific intermolecular interactions necessary for the plasticizer to dissolve the highly crystalline HMTA and to plasticize the phenol formaldehyde resin in this crosslinking reaction. The presence of the plasticizer increased the segmental mobility, disrupted the hydrogen bonded matrix, and freed the hydroxyl units, which further increased the solubility of the HMTA. Both the endothermic and exothermic transitions are accounted for in the calorimetric data obtained. For the first time, it is possible to obtain the effective molar ratio of each component needed to complete the crosslinking reaction efficiently. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. In an attempt to create a polymer brush-based platform for the systematic study for anti-biofouling surfaces, the benefits of surface initiated, visible light-mediated radical polymerization are utilized to fabricate well-defined, chemically ambiguously patterned surfaces. A variety of analytical tools are used to illustrate the precise tuning of surface chemistry and thoroughly characterize spatially well-defined, hydrophilic/hydrophobic surfaces composed of poly(ethylene glycol methacrylate) and poly(trifluoroethyl methacrylate) with chemical definition on the micron scale. Advantages of both visible light-mediated photopolymerization and traditional copper-catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization are combined to achieve both high spatial control and expanded monomer tolerance. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
