An efficient and novel method using palladium catalyst for the synthesis of benzo[d][1,2]diazepines by [5 + 2] annulation of N-arylhydrazones with alkynes has been developed. An efficient and versatile strategy employing palladium catalyst to synthesize 5,6-dihydrophenanthridine derivatives by annulation of benzylamines and arynes through C–H activation has been reported.
