Coulomb Potential Recapture Effect in Above-Barrier Ionization in Laser Pulses

The Coulomb potential recapture effect in above-barrier ionization with ultrashort long-wavelength laser pulses is investigated theoretically by solving the one-dimensional time-dependent Schrodinger equation. We find that electrons can be recaptured with considerable possibility by the Coulomb potential near the end of the pulse though atoms are ionized almost completely within the first few half optical cycles. Therefore there is a high probability of the atom surviving after the pulse. We also check this process in the three-dimensional case and find that this kind of stabilization can still exist in three-dimensional atoms.     

Ground-State Ionization Potentials for Lithium through Neon Isoelectronic Sequences with Z = 37-82

The ground-state ionization potentials of different isoelectronic sequences are calculated systemically with the multi-configuration Dirac-Fock method. The relativistic corrections, Breit and QED effects are included in the calculation. These results are compared with the scanty existing theoretical and experimental data in the literature, Analytical expressions are obtained for expressing our theoretical data along the different sequences.

A Note on Similarity Reductions of Barotropic and Quasi-geostrophic Potential Vorticity Equation

Applying the classical Lie symmetry approach to the barotropic and quasi-geostrophic potential vorticity equation without forcing and dissipation on a β-plane channel, we find a new symmetry, which is not presented in a previous work [F. Huang, Commun. Theor. Phys. （Beijing, China） 42 （2004） 903]. A general finite transformation group is obtained based on the full Lie point symmetry, Furthermore, two new types of similarity reduction solutions are obtained.
