Differential subordinations concerning starlike functions

Denote byS ^* (⌕), (0≤⌕<1), the family consisting of functionsf(z)=z+a ₂z²+...+a_nzⁿ+... that are analytic and starlike of order ⌕, in the unit disc ⋎z⋎<1. In the present article among other things, with very simple conditions on μ, ⌕ andh(z) we prove the f’(z) (f(z)/z)^μ−1<h(z) implies f∈S^*(⌕). Our results in this direction then admit new applications in the study of univalent functions. In many cases these results considerably extend the earlier works of Miller and Mocanu [6] and others.     

Structural modeling in a class of systems using fuzzy sets theory

On the basis of fuzzy sets theory, we propose a method for structuring hierarchy for the several complex problems, and call it Fuzzy Structural Modeling (FSM) method. An important requirement for structural modeling of complex systems is that the necessary data is acquired and organized into a form such that a structural model can be developed. The main purpose of this method is to describe and illustrate a formal procedure for constructing the graphic presentation of the hierarchical arrangement given the necessary information concerning the relation of each element to each other element. The procedure permits an automatic development of the graphic structure that portrays the hierarchy.     

Convolution properties for certain classes of multivalent functions

Recently N.E. Cho, O.S. Kwon and H.M. Srivastava [Nak Eun Cho, Oh Sang Kwon, H.M. Srivastava, Inclusion relationships and argument properties for certain subclasses of multivalent functions associated with a family of linear operators, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 292 (2004) 470-483] have introduced the class of multivalent analytic functions and have given a number of results. This class has been defined by means of a special linear operator associated with the Gaussian hypergeometric function. In this paper we have extended some of the previous results and have given other properties of this class. We have made use of differential subordinations and properties of convolution in geometric function theory.     

Subordination,rank, and determinism of multivariate stationary sequences

Necessary and sufficient conditions for an arbitrary q-variate stationary sequence x_t, t ∈ $\text{Z}$, to be deterministic are presented. A characterization of the rank r(x) of x_t, t ∈ $\text{Z}$, and a method to construct the Wold-Cramér decomposition for x_t, t ∈ $\text{Z}$, are given. Subordination of q-variate bounded orthogonally scattered vector measures is considered.     

Series of Free Random Variables

We show that the three series theorem of classical probability holds for free random variables as well. Sufficiency of the three series condition was known under more general circumstances, so only necessity is at issue.
