Synthesis and properties of one-dimensional Ni(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ)Cu(Ⅱ) complexes linked by hydrogen bond

Four dithiooxalato (Dto) bridged one-dimensional Ni(ll) and Ni(ll)Cu(ll) complexes (Me6[14]dieneN4)Ni2(Dto)2) (1), (Me6[14]dieneN4)CuNi(Dto)2 (2), (Me6[14]aneN4)Ni2(Dto)2 (3), and (Me6[14]aneN4)CuNi(Dto)2(4), were synthesized. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV and ESR spectra. The crystal structure of complex 3 was determined. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/c with a = 2.2425(4) nm, b = 1.0088(2) nm, c=1.4665(3) nm, β= 125.32(3)° ;Z=4; R = 0.076, Rw = 0.079. In the complex, Ni(1) coordinates four sulphur atoms of two Dto ligands in plane square environment. Ni(2) lies in the center of mac-rocyclic ligand. For Dto ligand, two sulphur atoms coordinate Ni(1), and O(1) coordinates Ni(2) and forms weak coordination bond. O(2) is linked to N(2) of macrocyclic ligand through hydrogen bond.     

Nitrophenol Derivatives Oxidized by Cerium(IV) Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) and Their Cytotoxicity

Oxidation of a series of phenols with cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN) in acetonitrile under mild conditions yields the mixture of corresponding nitrophenols. In the cases of methylphenols and hydroxy ‐carboxylic acids, the steric effect may reduce the nitration reaction. Compounds 3a and 4b showed selective activities to Hep 3B and Hep G2 cancer cell lines, respectively. Compound 2c showed selective activities to Hep G2 and MDA‐MB‐231 cancer cell lines. Furthermore, compound 10b showed selective activities to Hep G2, Hep 3B, MCF‐7 and MDA‐MB‐231 cancer cell lines.     

Discovery of a small molecule that inhibits the interaction of anthrax edema factor with its cellular activator, calmodulin

The catalytic efficiency of adenylyl cyclase activity of edema factor (EF) from Bacillus anthracis is enhanced by approximately 1000-fold upon its binding to mammalian protein calmodulin (CaM). A tandem cell-based and protein binding-based screen of a 10,000 member library identified a molecule that inhibits the EF-CaM interaction and therefore the adenylyl cyclase activity. A combination of fluorescence spectroscopy and photolabeling studies showed that the molecule targets the CaM binding region of EF. A series of related compounds were synthesized and evaluated to identify one compound, 4-[4-(4-nitrophenyl)-thiazolylamino]-benzenesulfonamide, that maintained activity against EF but showed minimal toxicity to two cultured cell lines. This compound represents an important reagent to study the role of EF in anthrax pathology and may represent a drug lead against anthrax infection.     

Intramolecular alkylative arylation of oxabicylic alkene: a potential diene approach for the synthesis of estrone and analogous steroid structures

Regioselective and stereospecific intramolecular alkylative arylation of unsaturated oxabicyclic diol 6, mediated by Lewis acid or strong protic acid to give the tetracyclic products 7a and 7b, as shown above, represents the first example of an electrophilic (cationic in character) ring-opening-cyclization of oxabicyclic alkene. This constitutes the key cyclization step for a long-standing and potentially useful diene approach for the synthesis of estrone and analogous steroid structures. [structure: see text]     

W/O/W多重乳液中水传递的控制

建立了简化的W/O/W(水/油/水)多重乳液乳珠模型——统计平均半径模型, 预测出当W/O/W多重乳液内水相水滴之间以及内外水相之间均达到水传递平衡时的内外水相中盐的浓度, 从而实现对水传递的控制, 以维持W/O/W多重乳液的稳定. 按理论预测制备出了不同稳定态的W/O/W多重乳液, 利用差分扫描量热仪(DSC)检测了多重乳液中水的传递过程, 确定体系在实验状态下的稳定程度, 实验结果与理论预测基本吻合.     

侧链型丙烯酸酯共聚物相变的正电子湮没谱研究

利用正电子湮没技术对侧链型热致高分子液晶丙烯酸酯共聚物进行了变温相变研究．除实验标识出样品的相变温度点外，根据试样中自由体积随温度的变化关系，对高分子液晶材料内部立链、侧链以及介晶基元的相变行为特点进行了探讨，并就与小分子液晶变化特点的一些不同做了解释．     

Microscale sample deposition onto hydrophobic target plates for trace level detection of neuropeptides in brain tissue by MALDI-MS

A sample preparation method that combines a modified target plate with a nanoscale reversed-phase column (nanocolumn) was developed for detection of neuropeptides by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). A gold-coated MALDI plate was modified with an octadecanethiol (ODT) self-assembled monolayer to create a hydrophobic surface that could concentrate peptide samples into a approximately 200-500-microm diameter spot. The spot sizes generated were comparable to those obtained for a substrate patterned with 200-microm hydrophilic spots on a hydrophobic substrate. The sample spots on the ODT-coated plate were 100-fold smaller than those formed on an unmodified gold plate with a 1-microl sample and generated 10 to 50 times higher mass sensitivity for peptide standards by MALDI-TOF MS. When the sample was deposited on an ODT-modified plate from a nanocolumn, the detection limit for peptides was as low as 20 pM for 5-microl samples corresponding to 80 amol deposited. This technique was used to analyze extracts of microwave-fixed tissue from rat brain striatum. Ninety-eight putative peptides were detected including several that had masses matching neuropeptides expected in this brain region such as substance P, rimorphin, and neurotensin. Twenty-three peptides had masses that matched peaks detected by capillary liquid chromatography with electrospray ionization MS.     

Utilization of hypervalent iodine in organic synthesis: A novel and facile two‐step protocol for the synthesis of new derivatives of 1H‐Imidazo[1,2‐b]pyrazole by the cyclocondensation involving α‐Tosyloxyacetophenones

A series of new 2‐aryl‐7‐cyano/ethoxycarbonyl‐6‐methylthio‐1H‐imidazo[1,2‐b]pyrazoles ( 5 ) have been synthesized in moderate to good yields, via a two‐step cyclocondensation procedure of 5‐amino‐4‐cyano/ethoxycarbonyl‐3‐methylthio‐1H‐pyrazole ( 1 ) and α‐bromoacetophenones ( 3 ) or α‐tosyloxyacetophenones ( 2 ), which were prepared by the reactions of acetophenones with [hydroxy(tosyloxy)iodo]benzene (HTIB). The intermediates, 5‐amino‐1‐(aroylmethyl)‐4‐ cyano/ethoxycarbonyl‐3‐methylthio‐1H‐pyrazoles ( 4 ), have been isolated, serving as evidence for the regioselectivity. When utilizing α‐tosyloxy‐acetophenones, the reactions were more eco‐friendly, the reaction time was significantly reduced and the synthetic procedure was more convenient and easier to manipulate. Surprisingly, using potassium carbonate to displace sodium carbonate in the synthesis of 4 , in the case of 1 (R? CN), two novel cyclocondensation products have been isolated and fully characterized, followed by the proposal of a plausible mechanism.     

μ‐{N,N′‐Bis[2‐(dimethyl­amino)ethyl]oxamidato(2–)}‐1κ2O,O′:2κ4N,N′,N′′,N′′′‐bis­(4,4′‐dimethyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine‐1κ2N,N′)dinickel(II) bis­(perchlorate)

In the crystal structure of the title complex, [Ni₂(C₁₀H₂₀N₄O₂)(C₁₂H₁₂N₂)₂](ClO₄)₂ or [Ni(dmaeoxd)Ni(dmbp)₂](ClO₄)₂ {H₂dmaeoxd is N,N′‐bis­[2‐(dimethyl­amino)ethyl]oxamide and dmbp is 4,4′‐dimethyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine}, the deprotonated dmaeoxd²⁻ ligand is in a cis conformation and bridges two Ni^II atoms, one of which is located in a slightly distorted square‐planar environment, while the other is in an irregular octa­hedral environment. The cation is located on a twofold symmetry axis running through both Ni atoms. The dmaeoxd²⁻ ligands inter­act with each other via C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π–π inter­actions, which results in an extended chain along the c axis.     

Investigation on the Extraction Mechanism of Au（I） from Cyanide Solution with Quaternary Ammonium System

During the past decades, there has been a renewed interest in the application of solvent extraction to the recovery of Au (I) from cyanide solutions1,2. Among those various extractants, the amine extractants with the addition of organic phosphorus oxide as cosolvent have been widely investigated3,4.
