Organic second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) materials have been extensively studied for their potential application involving telecommunications, optical information process and storage1. It has been found that the molecular hyperpolarizability of the NLO chromophores varys dramatically depending upon the donor-acceptor abilities as well as the nature of the conjugated bridge.Carbazole molecule has an isoelectronic structure of diphenylamine, and thus the introduction of electron acceptor (…  相似文献

Based on the classical turning point of electron movement in a molecule, a model for defining the molecular characteristic boundary contour is advanced. By using an accurate ab initio MELD program and an auxiliary program, some electron parameters in a molecule, such as the potential felt by an electron, have been evaluated. According to our model and definition, the molecular characteristic contour of the equilibrium geometry configuration is drawn and a vivid intuitive picture for describing the forming or breaking of a chemical bond is displayed.  相似文献

The substitution effect of fluorine on ethylene is investigated by means of studyingthe properties of the charge distribution at the bond critical points with the theory of atomsin molecules. It is found that fluorine atom acts not only as a σ electron acceptor, but also asa π electron donor, and these double effects are reflected in the quantity of ellipticity,Lap-lacian and the charge density of charge distribution at the bond critical points. For C—C,C—Fbonds, the major axis of elliptical contours is perpendicular to the molecular plane, but forC—H bond,it is parallel to the molecular plane.Other effects originating from the substi-tution have also been discussed.  相似文献

One linear template 13 and one cyclophane template 15, both incorporating two electron rich 1,4-dialkoxybenzene units and one diamide unit, have been synthesized. By utilizing donor-acceptor interaction and/or intermolecular hydrogen bonding assembling principles, one novel hetero[3]rotaxane 22·4Cl, possessing one neutral and one tetracationic ring components, has been synthesized from 13, through neutral [2]rotaxane 21 as intermediate. With 15 as template, tetracationic [2]catenane 23·4PF6 was assembled by using donor-acceptor interaction, but no neutral [2]rotaxane could be obtained under the typical conditions of hydrogen bonding assembling principle. The interlocked supramolecular compounds have been characterized and their spectral properties are investigated.  相似文献

Molecular dynamics simulations have been carried out for liquid water at 7 different temperatures to understand the nature of hydrogen bonding at molecular level through the investigation of the effects of temperature on the geometry of water molecules. The changes in bond length and bond angle of water molecules from gaseous state to liquid state have been observed, and the change in the bond angle of water molecules in liquid against temperature has been revealed, which has not been seen in literature so far. The analysis of the radial distribution functions and the coordinate numbers shows that, on an average, each water molecule in liquid acts as both receptor and donor, and forms at least two hydrogen bonds with its neigbors. The analysis of the results also indicates that the water molecules form clusters in liquid.  相似文献

Chemoreceptor TlpB(Tlp=transducer-like protein), which has been demonstrated to respond to pH sensing function, is crucial for the survival ofHelicobacterpylori(H, pylori) in host stomach. Urea was proposed to be essen- tial for TlpB's pH sensing function via binding with the Per-ARNT-Sim(PAS) domain of TlpB. Additionally, KI66R mutation of the TlpB protein has also been proven to have a similar effect on TlpB pH sensing as urea binding. Al- though X-ray crystallographic studies have been carried out for urea-bound Tlpl3, the molecular mechanism for the stabilization of TIpB induced by urea binding and K166R mutation remains to be elucidated. In this study, molecular dynamics simulations combined with principal component analysis(PCA) for the simulation results were used to gain an insight into the molecular mechanism of the stabilization of urea on TlpB protein. The formed H-bonds and salt-bridges surrounding Aspll4, which were induced by both urea binding and K166R mutation of TIpB, were im- portant to the stabilization of TlpB by urea. The similarity between the urea binding and K166R mutation as well as their differences in effect has been explicitly demonstrated with computer simulations at atomic-level. The findings may Dave the wav for the further researches of TlpB.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations were performed to investigate the charge separation and charge recombination processes in the photoinduced electron transfer reaction between tetracyanoethylene and acenaphthylene. The excited states of the charge‐balanced electron donor–acceptor complex and the singlet state of ion pair complex were studied by employing configuration interaction singles method. The equilibrium geometry of electron donor–acceptor complex was obtained by the second‐order Møller–Plesset method, with the interaction energy corrected by the counterpoise method. The theoretical study of ground state and excited states of electron donor–acceptor complex in this work reveals that the S1 and S2 states of the electron donor–acceptor complexes are excited charge transfer states, and charge transfer absorptions that corresponds to the S0 → S1 and S0 → S2 transitions arise from π–π* excitations. The charge recombination in the ion pair complex will produce the charge‐balanced ground state or excited triplet state. According to the generalized Mulliken–Hush model, the electron coupling matrix elements of the charge separation process and the charge recombination process were obtained. Based on the continuum model, charge transfer absorption and charge transfer emission in the polar solvent of 1,2‐dichloroethane were investigated. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two self‐assembled supramolecular donor–acceptor triads consisting of AlIII porphyrin (AlPor) with axially bound naphthalenediimide (NDI) as an acceptor and tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) as a secondary donor are reported. In the triads, the NDI and TTF units are attached to AlIII on opposite faces of the porphyrin, through covalent and coordination bonds, respectively. Fluorescence studies show that the lowest excited singlet state of the porphyrin is quenched through electron transfer to NDI and hole transfer to TTF. In dichloromethane hole transfer to TTF dominates, whereas in benzonitrile (BN) electron transfer to NDI is the main quenching pathway. In the nematic phase of the liquid crystalline solvent 4‐(n‐pentyl)‐4′‐cyanobiphenyl (5CB), a spin‐polarized transient EPR spectrum that is readily assigned to the weakly coupled radical pair TTF.+NDI.? is obtained. The initial polarization pattern indicates that the charge separation occurs through the singlet channel and that singlet–triplet mixing occurs in the primary radical pair. At later time the polarization pattern inverts as a result of depopulation of the states with singlet character by recombination to the ground state. The singlet lifetime of TTF.+NDI.? is estimated to be 200–300 ns, whereas the triplet lifetime in the approximately 350 mT magnetic field of the X‐band EPR spectrometer is about 10 μs. In contrast, in dichloromethane and BN the lifetime of the charge separation is <10 ns.  相似文献

Fullerene‐based tetrads, triads, and dyads are presented in which [60]fulleropyrrolidine synthons are linked to an oligo(p‐phenyleneethynylene) antenna at the nitrogen atom and to electron‐donor phenothiazine (PTZ) and/or ferrocene (Fc) moieties at the α carbon of the pyrrolidine cycle through an acetylene spacer. Cyclic voltammetry and UV/ Vis absorption spectra evidence negligible ground‐state electronic interactions among the subunits. By contrast, strong excited‐state interactions are detected upon selective light irradiation of the antenna (UV) or of the fullerene scaffold (Vis). When only PTZ is present as electron donor, photoinduced electron transfer to the fullerene unit is unambiguously detected in benzonitrile, but this is not the case when Fc is part of the multicomponent system. These results suggest that Fc is a formidable energy transfer quencher and caution should be used in choosing it as electron donor to promote efficient charge separation in multicomponent arrays.  相似文献

A tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) donor is annulated to porphyrins (P) via quinoxaline linkers to form novel symmetric P–TTF–P triads 1 a – c and asymmetric P–TTF dyads 2 a , b in good yields. These planar and extended π‐conjugated molecules absorb light over a wide region of the UV/Vis spectrum as a result of additional charge‐transfer excitations within the donor–acceptor assemblies. Quantum‐chemical calculations elucidate the nature of the electronically excited states. The compounds are electrochemically amphoteric and primarily exhibit low oxidation potentials. Cyclic voltammetric and spectroelectrochemical studies allow differentiation between the TTF and porphyrin sites with respect to the multiple redox processes occurring within these molecular assemblies. Transient absorption measurements give insight into the excited‐state events and deliver corresponding kinetic data. Femtosecond transient absorption spectra in benzonitrile may suggest the occurrence of fast charge separation from TTF to porphyrin in dyads 2 a , b but not in triads 1 a – c . Clear evidence for a photoinduced and relatively long lived charge‐separated state (385 ps lifetime) is obtained for a supramolecular coordination compound built from the ZnP–TTF dyad and a pyridine‐functionalized C60 acceptor unit. This specific excited state results in a (ZnP–TTF)?+ ??? (C60py)?? state. The binding constant of ZnII ??? py is evaluated by constructing a Benesi–Hildebrand plot based on fluorescence data. This plot yields a binding constant K of 7.20×104 M ?1, which is remarkably high for bonding of pyridine to ZnP.  相似文献

Novel photosynthetic reaction center model compounds of the type donor2–donor1–acceptor, composed of phenothiazine, BF2‐chelated dipyrromethene (BODIPY), and fullerene, respectively, have been newly synthesized using multistep synthetic methods. X‐ray structures of three of the phenothiazine‐BODIPY intermediate compounds have been solved to visualize the substitution effect caused by the phenothiazine on the BODIPY macrocycle. Optical absorption and emission, computational, and differential pulse voltammetry studies were systematically performed to establish the molecular integrity of the triads. The N‐substituted phenothiazine was found to be easier to oxidize by 60 mV compared to the C‐substituted analogue. The geometry and electronic structures were obtained by B3LYP/6‐31G(dp) calculations (for H, B, N, and O) and B3LYP/6‐31G(df) calculations (for S) in vacuum, followed by a single‐point calculation in benzonitrile utilizing the polarizable continuum model (PCM). The HOMO?1, HOMO, and LUMO were, respectively, on the BODIPY, phenothiazine and fullerene entities, which agreed well with the site of electron transfer determined from electrochemical studies. The energy‐level diagram deduced from these data helped in elucidating the mechanistic details of the photochemical events. Excitation of BODIPY resulted in ultrafast electron transfer to produce PTZ–BODIPY.+–C60.?; subsequent hole shift resulted in PTZ.+–BODIPY–C60.? charge‐separated species. The return of the charge‐separated species was found to be solvent dependent. In nonpolar solvents the PTZ.+–BODIPY–C60.? species populated the 3C60* prior to returning to the ground state, while in polar solvent no such process was observed due to relative positioning of the energy levels. The 1BODIPY* generated radical ion‐pair in these triads persisted for few nanoseconds due to electron transfer/hole‐shift mechanism.  相似文献

A series of molecular triads, composed of closely positioned boron dipyrrin-fullerene units, covalently linked to either an electron donor (donor(1)-acceptor(1)-acceptor(2)-type triads) or an energy donor (antenna-donor(1)-acceptor(1)-type triads) was synthesized and photoinduced energy/electron transfer leading to stabilization of the charge-separated state was demonstrated by using femtosecond and nanosecond transient spectroscopic techniques. The structures of the newly synthesized triads were visualized by DFT calculations, whereas the energies of the excited states were determined from spectral and electrochemical studies. In the case of the antenna-donor(1)-acceptor(1)-type triads, excitation of the antenna moiety results in efficient energy transfer to the boron dipyrrin entity. The singlet-excited boron dipyrrin thus generated, undergoes subsequent energy and electron transfer to fullerene to produce a boron dipyrrin radical cation and a fullerene radical anion as charge-separated species. Stabilization of the charge-separated state in these molecular triads was observed to some extent.  相似文献

We synthesized a series of donor‐substituted tridurylboranes containing different types and number of chromophores including 1‐pyrene (PB1–3), 3‐carbazole (CBC1–3), or substituted p‐carbazol‐N‐phenyl (CBN3a–c) as various donor–acceptor (D–A) molecules. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these twisted D–A molecules were investigated by means of UV/Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy as well as cyclic voltammetry (CV). Solvent polarity, viscosity, and temperature effects on the fluorescence emission reveal the existence of three types of excited states, and their equilibria and interconversions between three excited states. In increasing order of the charge‐separated extent and the conformational change, three excited states are the locally excited (LE) state, the more planar intramolecular charge‐transfer (ICT) state, and the more twisted ICT (TICT) state as compared to the ground state. The TICT state undergoes a conformational change with a higher energy barrier over the ICT state. The solvent polarity effect on the state conversion is opposite to the viscosity effect, and temperature effects derive from its resulting changes of polarity and viscosity. For example, the increase of the polarity of the solvent results in excited‐state conversions from the LE state to the ICT state, and/or from the ICT to the TICT state, and an increased viscosity leads to the opposite conversions. On the basis of electrochemical and spectral data, thermodynamics of a possible ICT process were estimated, and correlated with the excited‐state character. Finally, three excited states have been characterized by the conformation, the photophysical properties, and the thermodynamics of the ICT processes.  相似文献

Two new supramolecular architectures based on zinc phthalocyanine (Pc) and imidazolyl‐substituted perylenediimide (PDI), ZnPc/DImPDI/ZnPc 1 and ZnPc/ImPDI 2 , have been prepared. A strong electron‐donor, 8 , which contained eight tert‐octylphenoxy groups was synthesized to ensure high solubility, thereby reducing aggregation in solution and providing σ‐donor features while avoiding regioisomeric mixtures. Also, PDI units were functionalized with tert‐octylphenoxy groups at the bay positions, which provide solubility to avoid aggregation in solution, together with one and two imidazole moieties in the amide position, 6 and 4 , respectively, to be able to strongly coordinate with the ZnPc complex. Supramolecular complexation studies by 1H NMR spectroscopy and ESI‐MS demonstrate a high coordinative binding constant between imidazole‐substituted 4 or 6 and 8 . The same results were confirmed by UV/Vis and fluorescence titration studies. UV/Vis titration studies revealed the formation of a 1:1 complex ZnPc/ImPDI 2 for the systems 8 and 6 and a 2:1 complex ZnPc/DImPDI/ZnPc 1 for the interaction of 8 and 4 . The binding constant in both cases was determined to be on the order of 105 M −1. Femtosecond laser flash photolysis measurements provided a direct proof of the charge‐separated state within both supramolecular assemblies by observing the transient absorption band at 820 nm due to the zinc phthalocyanine radical cation. The lifetimes of charge‐separated states are (9.8±3) ns for triad 1 and (3±1) ns for dyad 2 . As far as we know, this is the first time that a radical ion pair has been detected in a supramolecular assembled ZnPc–PDI system and has obtained the longest lifetime of a charge‐separated state published for ZnPc–PDI assemblies.  相似文献

This work presents a joint theoretical and experimental characterisation of the structural and electronic properties of two tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)‐based acceptor–donor–acceptor triads (BQ–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ–TTF—BTCNQ; BQ is naphthoquinone and BTCNQ is benzotetracyano‐p‐quinodimethane) in their neutral and reduced states. The study is performed with the use of electrochemical, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and UV/Vis/NIR spectroelectrochemical techniques guided by quantum‐chemical calculations. Emphasis is placed on the mixed‐valence properties of both triads in their radical anion states. The electrochemical and EPR results reveal that both BQ–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ–TTF–BTCNQ triads in their radical anion states behave as class‐II mixed‐valence compounds with significant electronic communication between the acceptor moieties. Density functional theory calculations (BLYP35/cc‐pVTZ), taking into account the solvent effects, predict charge‐localised species (BQ . ?–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ . ?–TTF–BTCNQ) as the most stable structures for the radical anion states of both triads. A stronger localisation is found both experimentally and theoretically for the BTCNQ–TTF–BTCNQ anion, in accordance with the more electron‐withdrawing character of the BTCNQ acceptor. CASSCF/CASPT2 calculations suggest that the low‐energy, broad absorption bands observed experimentally for the BQ–TTF–BQ and BTCNQ–TTF–BTCNQ radical anions are associated with the intervalence charge transfer (IV‐CT) electronic transition and two nearby donor‐to‐acceptor CT excitations. The study highlights the molecular efficiency of the electron‐donor TTF unit as a molecular wire connecting two acceptor redox centres.  相似文献

A series of covalent ferrocene–BODIPY–fullerene triads with the ferrocene groups conjugated to the BODIPY π-system and the fullerene acceptor linked at the boron hub by a common catecholpyrrolidine bridge were prepared and characterized by 1D and 2D NMR, UV/Vis, steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and, for one of the derivatives, X-ray crystallography. Redox processes of the new compounds were investigated by electrochemical (CV and DPV) methods and spectroelectrochemistry. DFT calculations indicate that the HOMO in all triads was delocalized between ferrocene and BODIPY π-system, the LUMO was always fullerene-centered, and the catechol-centered occupied orbital was close in energy to the HOMO. TDDFT calculations were indicative of the low-energy, low-intensity charge-transfer bands originated from the ferrocene–BODIPY core to fullerene excitation, which explained the similarity of the UV/Vis spectra of the ferrocene–BODIPY dyads and ferrocene–BODIPY–fullerene triads. Photophysical properties of the new triads as well as reference BODIPY–fullerene and ferrocene–BODIPY dyads were investigated by pump-probe spectroscopy in the UV/Vis and NIR spectral regions following selective excitation of the BODIPY-based antenna. Initial charge transfer from the ferrocene to the BODIPY core was shown to outcompete sub-100 fs deactivation of the excited state mediated by the catechol bridge. However, no subsequent electron transfer to the fullerene acceptor was observed. The initial charge separated state relaxes by recombination with a time constant of 150–380 ps.  相似文献
