Collection and elution method for inorganic anion on protonated chitin has been applied to the spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum (VI). The molybdenum (VI) is collected as molybdate ion on a column of chitin in weak acidic medium which is easily eluted with a small volume of 0.1 M ammonia buffer solution (pH 10). The molybdenum (VI) in the eluent is determined by bromopyrogallol red-Zephiramine method spectrophotometrically. Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0.1-0.8 mug of molybdenum (VI) in 1 ml of eluent at 634 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity is 6x10(4) dm(3) mol(-1) cm(-1). The tolerance limits for WO(4)(2-), VO(3)(-), CrO(4)(2-) and Fe (III) is low, that is, 1-100 times that of molybdenum (VI), but some metal ions and common inorganic anions do not interfere in concentration range of 1000-5000 times that of molybdenum (VI). The present method can be applied to the determination of molybdenum (VI) in natural water samples.  相似文献

A reliable and very sensitive procedure for the determination of trace levels of molybdenum in seawater is proposed. The complex of molybdenum with 8-hydroxyquinoline (Oxine) is analyzed by cathodic stripping square-wave voltammetry based on the adsorption collection onto a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE). This procedure of molybdenum determination was found to be more favorable than differential pulse cathodic stripping voltammetry because of inherently faster scan rate and much better linearity obtained through the one-peak (instead of one-of-two peaks) calibration. The variation of polarographic peak and peak current with a pH, adsorption time, adsorption potential, and some instrumental parameters such as scan rate and pulse height were optimized. The alteration of polarographic wave and its likely mechanism are also discussed. The relationship between peak current and molybdenum concentration is linear up to 150 mug l(-1). Under the optimal analytical conditions, the determination limit of 0.5 mug l(-1) Mo was reached after 60 s of the stirred collection. The estimated detection limit is better than 0.1 mug l(-1) of Mo. The applicability of this method to analysis of seawater was assessed by the determination of molybdenum in two certified reference seawater samples (CASS-2 and NASS-2) and the comparison of the analytical results for real seawater samples (study on a vertical distribution of Mo in the seawater column) with the results obtained by Zeeman-corrected electrothermal atomization atomic absorption spectrometry (Zeeman ETAAS). A good agreement between two used methods of molybdenum determination was obtained.  相似文献

A very simple, ultra-sensitive and highly selective non-extractive spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amount of molybdenum(VI) using 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline (DBHQ) has been developed. 5,7-Dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline reacts in a slightly acidic solution (0.05 - 1.0 M H2SO4) with molybdenum(VI) to give a deep greenish-yellow chelate which has an absorption maximum at 401 nm. The reaction is instantaneous and the absorbance remains stable for over 24 h. The average molar absorption coefficient and Sandell's sensitivity were found to be 4.13 x 10(3) L mol(-1) cm(-1) and 7 ng cm(-2) of molybdenum(VI), respectively. Linear calibration graphs were obtained for 0.1 - 50 microg mL(-1) of molybdenum(VI). The stoichiometric composition of the chelate is 1:3 (Mo:DBHQ). A large excess of over 50 cations, anions and some common complexing agents (e.g. EDTA, oxalate, citrate, phosphate, thiourea, SCN-) do not interfere with the determination. The method was successfully used in the determination of molybdenum in several Standard Reference Materials (alloys, steels and waters) as well as in some environmental waters (inland and surface), biological samples (human blood and urine), soil samples, solution containing both molybdenum(V) and molybdenum(VI) and complex synthetic mixtures. The method has high precision and accuracy (S = +/-0.01 for 0.5 microg mL(-1)).  相似文献

Volumetric and spectrophotometric methods for molybdenum determination based on reaction with 2,2'-biquinoxalyl (2,2'-BQx) in concentrated hydrochloric acid media have been developed. Absorption spectra of the 1,1'-dihydro 2,2'-biquinoxalylene complex shows the most intensive absorption band at 685 nm with molar absorptivity = 3.3 x 10(4) 1. mole(-1). cm(-1). The compound is characterized by good durability to high temperatures and concentrated acid media. The mentioned indicator gives distinct colour changes at the titration end-point. The spectrophotometric method for molybdenum determination is based on the use of the difference in absorbance between the oxidized and reduced forms of 2,2'-BQx. The indicator is reduced with Sn(II) and then part of it is reoxided as a result of addition of Mo(VI). The difference in absorbance between the blank determination and molybdenum sample increases linearily in the concentration range 0.2-2.0 mug Mo/cm(3). 2,2'-Biquinoxalyl was used as an indicator in the volumetric method for the determination of molybdenum concentrations in steel alloy. The interfering ions FE(III) and Cr(III) are easily eliminated as the precipitate of hydroxides. The mineral acids, hydrochloric sulphuric and perchloric acids, have been tested as reaction media.  相似文献

A novel spectrophotometric method based on a new reagent, 3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxyphenylflurone, was developed for the determination of molybdenum in plants and seeds. 3,5-Dibromo-4-hydroxyphenylflurone showed outstanding analytical characteristics for spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum. The reaction conditions are simple and stable. In 0.2 mol l(-1) phosphoric acid medium (which can combine with iron and other metal ions and greatly improves the selectivity of the color system), molybdenum(VI) reacts with 3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxyphenylflurone to form a 1:2 red complex with an absorption maximum at 530 nm, the color reaction can completed in 2 min and the absorbance of the molybdenum complex remains stable for at least 72 h at room temperature. Its stability constant is 1.21 x 10(28) at 25 degrees C. Beer's law is obeyed over the range 0-0.6 microg ml(-1) Mo(VI). The reagent has very high sensitivity and selectivity; the molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.35 x 10(5) 1 mol(-1) cm(-1) and the limit of quantification, the limit of detection and relative standard deviation (n = 10) were found to be 6.7 ng ml(-1), 2.2 ng ml(-1) and 1.01%, respectively. Cu (50000-fold), Fe (20000-fold), K (20000-fold), NH4+ (20000-fold), Mg (15000-fold), Zn (10000-fold), Na (10000-fold), Al (4000-fold), Ca (25000-fold), Mn (2000-fold), Ce (500-fold), Cr (400-fold) and Bi (200-fold) do not interfere with the determination of trace levels of molybdenum up to the excesses indicated. The selectivity is much superior to that of other published methods. The proposed method was applied to the direct determination of molybdenum in plants and seeds with satisfactory results. The synthesis of the reagent and conditions of color reaction were studied in detail.  相似文献

A novel method is designed for the direct determination of trace amounts of molybdenum(VI) in tap water, human hair, and Chinese herbal medicine by means of decreasing resonance light scattering (RLS) technique. The characteristics of RLS spectra, the effective factors, and optimum conditions of the reaction were studied. In the medium of hydrochloric acid (pH 2.38), Mo(VI), dibromohydroxyphenylfluorone (DBHPF), and Triton X-100 react to form a complex, resulting in significant decreasing RLS signals of DBHPF-Triton X-100. The decreasing RLS intensity at 583.0 nm is proportional to the concentration of Mo(VI) up to 8.0 ng mL(-1). The detection limit is 0.013 ng mL(-1). The method is simple, reproducible, with reaction rapidity and stability of complexes formed. Moreover, the high selectivity and sensitivity of this method permits its direct determination of molybdenum(VI) in tap water, human hair, and Chinese herbal medicine and the results are in agreement with those obtained by the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) method.  相似文献

6-Chloro-3-hydroxy-2-(5'-methylfuryl)-4H-chromene-4-one (CHMFC) has been used as an analytical reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum. Molybdenum(VI) in the presence of several cations, anions and complexing agents forms a yellow 1:2 complex with CHMFC. The complex is quantitatively extractable into 1,2-dichloroethane from 1 mol dm(-3) acetic acid medium and is stable for more than 6 h. The complex shows an absorption maximum at 438 nm with a molar absorptivity of 5.36 x 10(4) dm3 mol(-1) cm(-1) and Sandell's sensitivity equal to 0.0017 microg Mo cm(-2). The method obeys Beer's law up to 1.9 microg Mo ml(-1). The relative standard deviations are 0.2% for solutions and 0.5-1.5% for solid samples. The method is simple, selective, precise and rapid, and has been satisfactorily applied to the micro determination of molybdenum in various synthetic and standard samples.  相似文献

Molybdenum(VI) reacts with p-chloromandelic acid to form a complex extractable into chlorobenzene with Malachite Green, from aqueous solution at pH 2.0-4.0 at room temperature, and can then be determined indirectly by measuring the absorbance of the Malachite Green in the extract, at 630 nm. The calibation graph is linear for molybdenum over the range 0.26-10.0 x 10(-6)M (0.10-4.0 mug); the apparent molar absorptivity is 1.06 x 10(5) l.mole(-1).cm(-1). The method has been applied to the determination of molybdenum in mild steels with satisfactory results.  相似文献

A highly selective, sensitive, and fairly rapid and economical differential pulse polarographic (DPP) method has been reported for the determination of trace amounts of vanadium and molybdenum in standard alloys and various environmental samples. The morpholine-4-carbodithioates of these metals were retained (>99% recovery) quantitatively on microcrystalline naphthalene in the pH range 4.5-6.9 for vanadium and 1.5-4.5 for molybdenum. These metals were determined by DPP after desorption with 10 ml of 1 M HCl. Vanadium and molybdenum may also be preconcentrated by passing their aqueous solutions under similar conditions on morpholine-4-dithiocarbamate CTMAB-naphthalene adsorbent packed in a column at a flow rate of 1-5 ml min(-1) and determined similarly. The detection limits are 0.20 ppm for vanadium and 0.04 ppm for molybdenum at minimum instrumental settings (signal to noise ratio=2). The linearity is maintained in the following concentration ranges, vanadium 0.50-10.0 and molybdenum 0.10-9.0 ppm, with a correlation factor of 0.9996 (confidence interval of 95%, slopes 0.0196 and 0.01497 muA mug(-1), intercepts 3.65x10(-3) and -1.92x10(-3) respectively) and relative standard deviation of 1.1% in the microcrystalline method, while in the column method, the linearity is maintained in the concentration ranges, 0.50-6.5 for vanadium and 0.10-5.5 ppm for molybdenum with correlation factor of 0.9994 (with confidence interval of 95%, slopes 0.0194, 0.015 muA mug(-1), intercepts 3.60x10(-3) and -1.90x10(-3) respectively) and relative standard deviation of 1.4%. Various parameters such as the effect of pH, reagent, naphthalene and CTMAB concentrations, volume of aqueous phase and interference of a large number of metal ions on the estimation of vanadium and molybdenum have been studied in detail to optimize the conditions for their voltammetric determination at trace level in various standard alloys and environmental samples.  相似文献

A novel flow-injection spectrophotometry has been developed for the determination of molybdenum(VI) at nanograms per milliliter levels. The method is based on the catalytic effect of molybdenum(VI) on the bromate oxidative coupling of p-hydrazinobenzenesulfonic acid with N-(1-naphthyl)ethylenediamine to form an azo dye (λmax = 530 nm). Chromotropic acid (4,5-dihydroxy-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonic acid) acted as an effective activator for the molybdenum(VI)-catalyzed reaction and increased the sensitivity of the method. The reaction was monitored by measuring the change in absorbance of the dye produced. The proposed method allowed the determination of molybdenum(VI) in the range 1.0-20 ng mL−1 with sample throughput of 15 h−1. The limit of detection was 0.5 ng mL−1 and a relative standard deviation for 10 ng mL−1 molybdenum(VI) (n = 10) was 2.5%. The interfering ions were eliminated by using the combination of a masking agent and on-line minicolumn packed with cation exchanger. The present method was successfully applied to the determination of molybdenum(VI) in plant foodstuffs.  相似文献

A method is proposed for the simultaneous determination of iron(III) and molybdenum(VI) by first-derivative spectrophotometry based on the absorption spectra of their complexes with morin in the presence of a cationic surfactant. The zero-crossing measurement technique is found sutiable for the direct measurement of the first-derivative value at the specified wavelengths. Iron(III) (0.9-1.5 mug ml(-1)) and molybdenum(VI) (0.3-4.2 mug ml(-1)) in different ratios have been determined simultaneously. A critical evaluation of the proposed method is performed by statistical analysis of the experimental data. The method was applied to determine iron and molybdenum in different alloys.  相似文献

A reliable and sensitive procedure for the simultaneous determination of trace levels of copper and molybdenum is proposed. The complexing of copper(II) and molybdenum(VI) with pyrogallol red (PGR) is analyzed by cathodic stripping differential pulse voltammetry based on the adsorption collection of the complexes onto a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE). The effect of chemical and instrumental parameters on the sensitivity and selectivity were studied. Copper and molybdenum peaks potential were observed at about +0.13 and −0.22 V versus Ag/AgCl electrode, respectively. A standard addition method was utilized for the analysis of voltammogram data, under the optimum conditions and with accumulation time of 90 s. The measured peak current at about +0.14 and −0.22 V is proportional to the concentration of Cu(II) and Mo(VI) over the range of 2-70 and 0.8-80 ng ml−1, respectively. The limit of detection are 0.3 and 0.1 ng ml−1 for Cu(II) and Mo(VI), respectively. The capability of the method for the analysis of real samples was evaluated by determination of copper and molybdenum in river water, tap water and alloy. Atomic absorption spectrometry was applied as a reference method for determination of copper and molybdenum in water samples.  相似文献

A simple and rapid method has been developed for the determination of molybdenum and vanadium in seawater using ion-exchange preconcentration and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). One hundred milliliters of seawater prepared as 0.05 M hydrochloric acid solution is passed through a cellulose phosphate column, and molybdenum and vanadium adsorbed on the cellulose are eluted simultaneously with dilute ammonia solution. The effluent collected is evaporated to a small volume, in which molybdenum and vanadium can be determined by ICP-AES. The overall recoveries of molybdenum and vanadium are 93.6 and 80.4%, respectively, at the level of 1 μgMo/100 ml and 0.1 μgV/100 ml. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination of the two elements in several seawater samples. Relative standard deviations (n = 3) are 2.0-2.9 and 0.3-4.3% for molybdenum and vanadium, respectively.  相似文献

The interaction between rhenium(VII) and dithio-oxamide in strongly alkaline medium in presence of tin(II) chloride as reluctant has been studied. A purple complex is obtained, with lambda(max) 526 nm and (max) = 4.0 x 10(3) l.mole(-1).cm(-1). The reaction has been applied to the determination of rhenium in tungsten-rhenium alloy after its anodic electrochemical dissolution in alkaline medium. A 1000-fold excess of molybdenum or tungsten does not interfere. A modification of the proposed method can be used as a spot-test for rapid control of rhenium content in industrial solutions.  相似文献

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of vanadium based upon the reaction of vanadate with 1,10-phenanthroline in the presence of sodium dithionite in ammoniacal solution is described. The absorbance of the complex measured at 645 nm follows Beer's law for solutions containing 30-400 microg of vanadium in 100 ml of solution. A 10-fold excess of molybdenum, tungsten, phosphorus or chromium does not interfere. The molar absorptivity is 8.0 x 10(3) 1 mole(-1) cm(-1). The complex is shown to be tris-1,10-phenanthroline vanadium(II). The method has been applied successfully to the determination of vanadium in bauxite.  相似文献

A rapid method suitable for the determination of dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP) in soil leachates and runoff waters is presented. The flow injection (FI) manifold contains an in-line PTFE reaction coil wrapped around a low power UV lamp and is based on the spectrophotometric determination of dissolved reactive phosphorus (DRP) and mineralised DOP at 690 nm after reduction of phosphomolybdate to molybdenum blue with tin(II) chloride. The linear range was 0-1.5 mg 1(-1) PO(4)-P, with a detection limit (3 s) of 7 mug 1(-1) and a sample throughput of 40 h(-1). Tolerance to potential matrix interferences in soil pore waters, particularly Al(III), Si(IV), Fe(II) and Fe(III), was achieved using a combination of on-line sample pre-treatment by a strong acid ion exchange column, low photoreactor pH and acid induced control of the kinetics of the molybdenum blue reaction. The results obtained with this manifold were in good agreement with those obtained by a batch spectrophotometric reference method.  相似文献

A very simple, selective and sensitive method was developed for the spectrophotometric determination of Mo in the presence of W. The method was based on the formation of color charge transfer complex, molybdotungstophosphate-3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbezidine anion, which was solubilized and stabilized in PVA medium. Following the recommended procedure, molybdenum could be determined in the linear range of 0.04-2.5 mug ml(-1) and the molar absorptivity was 1.47x10(4) l mol(-1) cm(-1) at 660 nm. The proposed method had been applied to the determination of trace molybdenum in tungsten ore with satisfactory results.  相似文献
