A very simple, ultra-sensitive and highly selective non-extractive spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amount of molybdenum(VI) using 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline (DBHQ) has been developed. 5,7-Dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline reacts in a slightly acidic solution (0.05 - 1.0 M H2SO4) with molybdenum(VI) to give a deep greenish-yellow chelate which has an absorption maximum at 401 nm. The reaction is instantaneous and the absorbance remains stable for over 24 h. The average molar absorption coefficient and Sandell's sensitivity were found to be 4.13 x 10(3) L mol(-1) cm(-1) and 7 ng cm(-2) of molybdenum(VI), respectively. Linear calibration graphs were obtained for 0.1 - 50 microg mL(-1) of molybdenum(VI). The stoichiometric composition of the chelate is 1:3 (Mo:DBHQ). A large excess of over 50 cations, anions and some common complexing agents (e.g. EDTA, oxalate, citrate, phosphate, thiourea, SCN-) do not interfere with the determination. The method was successfully used in the determination of molybdenum in several Standard Reference Materials (alloys, steels and waters) as well as in some environmental waters (inland and surface), biological samples (human blood and urine), soil samples, solution containing both molybdenum(V) and molybdenum(VI) and complex synthetic mixtures. The method has high precision and accuracy (S = +/-0.01 for 0.5 microg mL(-1)).  相似文献

The extraction of chromium (VI) with iodnitrotetrazolium chloride (INT) was studied spectrophotometrically. The basic spectrophotometric characteristics of the ion associated formed were determined. Using different methods it was found that the ratio between chromium and INT was 1:1. The molar absorptivity of the associate is (250) = (3.70 +/- 0.08) x 10(4) 1.mole(-1).cm(-1). Performing the reaction in acid medium (0.1-1.1M hydrochloric acid) allowed the determination of chromium in the presence of large amounts of W(VI), Mo(VI), Fe(III) and V(V). Hence INT is suggested as a sensitive and selective reagent for extractive-spectrophotometric determination of microquantities of chromium(VI).  相似文献

The present paper describes a simple, selective and sensitive kinetic method for the determination of trace amounts of molybdenum(VI) based on its inhibitory effect on the reaction oxidation of 4-hydroxycoumarine by KMnO(4) in the presence of hydrochloric acid, at pH 1.75 at 25 degrees C. The rate of the indicator reaction was followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in the absorbance of KMnO(4) at 525 nm. The development method includes optimization of the reagent concentration and temperature. The calibration graph was linear in the range of concentrations from 20 to 200 ng/cm(3) of molybdenum(VI). The probable relative error was in the interval 3.10 - 10.52% for the concentration range of 200 - 20 ng/cm(3) molybdenum(VI), respectively. The interference effects of the foreign ions were determined to assess the selectivity of the method. The developed method was found to have relatively good selectivity, sensitivity, simplicity and rapidity. The proposed method was applied to the determination of molybdenum(VI) in a particular type of steel and alloy (hastelloy).  相似文献

A simple, sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method for determination of molybdenum is described. A solution containing 100 mug of Mo in 2.5M hydrochloric acid is treated with ascorbic acid and ammonium thiocyanate and after standing for 8 min is shaken with an equal volume of ethyl methyl ketone for 30 sec. The absorbance of the complex is measured at 465 nm against a reagent blank. The complex is stable for 1 hour. There is no interference from Re(VII), SO(2-)(4), Cl(-), CH(3)COO(-), PO(3-)(4), NO(-)(3), C(2)O(2-)(4), citrate or tartrate, and at least 5 mg of U(VI), 10 mg of Cr(III, VI), Th, or Ni, and 20 mg of W(VI) Can be tolerated. Vanadium(V) interferes at the 500 mug level, and fluoride slightly decreases the absorbance.  相似文献

A new highly sensitive and selective chromogenic reagent, p-carboxyphenylfluorone (p-CPF), was studied for spectrophotometric determination of trace molybdenum. In 0.36 mol L(-1)phosphoric acid medium, p-CPF reacts with molybdenum(VI) to form a 1:3 red complex, which has a sensitive absorption peak at 531 nm. Under optimal conditions, the reaction of molybdenum(VI) with p-CPF completed rapidly and absorbance remains almost constant for at least 24 h. Molybdenum(VI) obeyed Beer's law in the range 0-2.0 microg mL(-1); the apparent molar absorption coefficient, Sandell's sensitivity and the limit of detection were found to be 1.03 x 10(5) L mol(-1) cm(-1), 1.028 ng cm(-2)and 0.73 ng mL(-1) respectively; the effect of various foreign ions were examined in detail. It was found that most coexisting ions can be tolerated in considerable amounts, especially 800 mg of Mn(II), 200 mg of Mg(II), Fe(II), Co(III), Ni(II) and Cd(II), 50 mg of Ca(II) and Al(III), 25 mg of Cu(II) and Fe(III), 10 mg of Hg (II), La(III), Bi(III), Pb(II) and Zn(II) don't interfere with the determination of molybdenum(VI). The proposed method is very simple, sensitive and selective, it has been applied to determine molybdenum in vegetable and food samples with a very high precision and accuracy. Moreover, the synthesis of the reagent and the conditions of the colour reaction were also studied in detail.  相似文献

A novel spectrophotometric method based on a new reagent, 3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxyphenylflurone, was developed for the determination of molybdenum in plants and seeds. 3,5-Dibromo-4-hydroxyphenylflurone showed outstanding analytical characteristics for spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum. The reaction conditions are simple and stable. In 0.2 mol l(-1) phosphoric acid medium (which can combine with iron and other metal ions and greatly improves the selectivity of the color system), molybdenum(VI) reacts with 3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxyphenylflurone to form a 1:2 red complex with an absorption maximum at 530 nm, the color reaction can completed in 2 min and the absorbance of the molybdenum complex remains stable for at least 72 h at room temperature. Its stability constant is 1.21 x 10(28) at 25 degrees C. Beer's law is obeyed over the range 0-0.6 microg ml(-1) Mo(VI). The reagent has very high sensitivity and selectivity; the molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.35 x 10(5) 1 mol(-1) cm(-1) and the limit of quantification, the limit of detection and relative standard deviation (n = 10) were found to be 6.7 ng ml(-1), 2.2 ng ml(-1) and 1.01%, respectively. Cu (50000-fold), Fe (20000-fold), K (20000-fold), NH4+ (20000-fold), Mg (15000-fold), Zn (10000-fold), Na (10000-fold), Al (4000-fold), Ca (25000-fold), Mn (2000-fold), Ce (500-fold), Cr (400-fold) and Bi (200-fold) do not interfere with the determination of trace levels of molybdenum up to the excesses indicated. The selectivity is much superior to that of other published methods. The proposed method was applied to the direct determination of molybdenum in plants and seeds with satisfactory results. The synthesis of the reagent and conditions of color reaction were studied in detail.  相似文献

A spectrophotometric procedure is suggested for the determination of Cr(III). The reaction between Cr(III) and 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-dimethylaminophenol is accelerated by sodium dodecyl sulphate(SDS), sodium benzoate causes a further increase in the absorbance of the chelate. The optimum pH range for the reaction is 5-5.8(benzoate buffer). The chelate exhibits maximum absorbance at 590 nm, obeys Beer's law over the concentration range 0.02-0.56 microg/ml of Cr(III), has molar absorptivity of 7.8 x 10(4) 1. mol(-1) cm(-1) and a Sandell sensitivity of 0.66 ng/cm. The metal to ligand ratio is 1:2 in the absence of SDS and 1:1 in its presence. A procedure for the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI), when present together, is described. The method has been applied to the analysis of Cr(III) in tap water.  相似文献

Chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CPA) has been tested as indicator in the titration of molybdenurn(V) with cerium(IV)sulphate at room temperature in sulphuric acid medium. It gives a sharp, reversible colour change from colourless to dark-red at the equivalence point. Chlorpromazine hydrochloride also reacts in acidic media with thiocyanatomolybdenum(V) complexes forming an orange compound with the formula (CPA · H) [MoO(SCN)4]. This reaction provides a sensitive method for spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum(V). Molybdenum(VI) is reduced with ascorbic acid in hydrochloric acid solution, and complexed with thiocyanate, and the complex formed is extracted with chlorpromazine hydrochloride in chloroform. The molar absorptivity is 1.6 × 104 l mol-1 cm-1 at 465 nm. Beer's law is obeyed in the range 0.5–5.0 μg Mo ml-1.  相似文献

A rapid, simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of some sulphanilamides is described. The method is based on the formation of blue coloured disazo dyes by the diazotization of sulphonamides viz. sulphanilamide (SA), sulphamerazine (SMR), sulphamethazine (SMZ), sulphadimethoxine (SDM), sulphamethoxazole (SMX), sulphadiazine (SDA), sulfathiazole (STZ), sulphaguanidine (SGN), sulphamonomethoxine (SMM), sulphamethoxypyridazine (SMP) in 0.5M hydrochloric acid media at ice bath followed by the azocoupling reaction with acid monoazo dye Tropaeolin O (TrO) at pH=10.5. Formed products are stable for 10h at room temperature. Effective molar absorptivities at absorbance maxima 595nm for disazo dyes were ~10(4)M(-1)cm(-1). Stoichiometric ratios of the components of disazo dyes were determined by means of mole ratio and continuous variations methods. Linear ranges for sulphanilamides determination were 0.4-14.0μgml(-1). The methods were successfully approved at suphanilamides determination in model solutions and commercial pharmaceutical preparations.  相似文献

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of vanadium based upon the reaction of vanadate with 1,10-phenanthroline in the presence of sodium dithionite in ammoniacal solution is described. The absorbance of the complex measured at 645 nm follows Beer's law for solutions containing 30-400 microg of vanadium in 100 ml of solution. A 10-fold excess of molybdenum, tungsten, phosphorus or chromium does not interfere. The molar absorptivity is 8.0 x 10(3) 1 mole(-1) cm(-1). The complex is shown to be tris-1,10-phenanthroline vanadium(II). The method has been applied successfully to the determination of vanadium in bauxite.  相似文献

6-Chloro-3-hydroxy-2-(5'-methylfuryl)-4H-chromene-4-one (CHMFC) has been used as an analytical reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum. Molybdenum(VI) in the presence of several cations, anions and complexing agents forms a yellow 1:2 complex with CHMFC. The complex is quantitatively extractable into 1,2-dichloroethane from 1 mol dm(-3) acetic acid medium and is stable for more than 6 h. The complex shows an absorption maximum at 438 nm with a molar absorptivity of 5.36 x 10(4) dm3 mol(-1) cm(-1) and Sandell's sensitivity equal to 0.0017 microg Mo cm(-2). The method obeys Beer's law up to 1.9 microg Mo ml(-1). The relative standard deviations are 0.2% for solutions and 0.5-1.5% for solid samples. The method is simple, selective, precise and rapid, and has been satisfactorily applied to the micro determination of molybdenum in various synthetic and standard samples.  相似文献

A fairly sensitive and selective method for rapid determination of tracer amounts of molybdenum(V) as mixed-ligand complexes with thiocyanate and 4-unsubstituted-5-pyrazolones is described. The red complexes are extractable into chloroform from 1-5M hydrochloric or perchloric acid or 1-3M sulphuric arid media. The molar absorptivities are in the range 1.72-2.15 x 10(4)l.mole(-1).cm(-1) at 455 nm (lambda(max)). The method has been applied to the estimation of molybdenum in various synthetic and alloy-steel samples. In presence of excess of the reagent, Cu(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Al(III), Cr(III), Cr(VI), Ti(III), Ti(IV), Zr(IV), Hf(IV), V(III), V(IV), V(V), Nb(V), Ta(V), W(VI) and U(VI) do not interfere.  相似文献

A simple procedure for selective sorption of tungsten is described. The method involves reduction of W(VI) to W(V) with tin(II) chloride (2%, w/v) at 8-9M hydrochloric acid, formation of the W(V)-SCN complex with 0.2M KSCN and its sorption on polyurethane foam within 20 min. The sorbed complex is then eluted with acidified acetone (1 ml of 1M hydrochloric acid and 8 ml of acetone) followed by addition of 1 ml of 0.1M KSCN to the eluent. The method has been applied to the spectrophotometric determination of tungsten in steels and silicates by measuring the absorbance of the eluted solution at 400 nm. Beer's law is obeyed for the range 0.1-12 mug W/ml. Other elements, e.g., Co(III) (50 mug/ml), Cu(II) (10 mug/ml), Ti(IV) (20 mug/ml), V(V) (10 mug/ml) and Mo(VI) (0.5 mug/ml) have no effect on the method. Interference of copper, up to 100 mug/ml has been eliminated by masking with thiourea and that due to molybdenum by prior separation with thioglycollic acid on PUF. The method has been verified with standard samples.  相似文献

A simple, robust and sensitive sequential injection spectrophotometric method for the assay of penicillamine (PA) in pharmaceutical formulations is developed. The method was based on the complex formation when PA is reacted with iron(III) solution in hydrochloric acid media. The deep blue colored PA-iron(III) complex produced is monitored at a maximum wavelength of 600 nm. A five level orthogonal array design coupled to genetic algorithm was employed to obtain the optimum experimental conditions for the determination of PA using peak absorbance as the measure of the system's performance criterion. A linear dynamic range for the determination of PA of 25-300 ppm was obtained with a sampling frequency of 50 h−1 and a relative standard deviation of less than 0.98%. The method was successfully applied to the determination of PA in pharmaceutical formulations.  相似文献

An indirect spectrophotometric method has been developed for trace determination of silicate in aqueous samples. The silicate is converted into silicomolybdic acid and extracted into a mixture of 1-butanol and butyl acetate. The silicomolybdic acid is then decomposed with sodium hydroxide and the molybdenum(VI) reduced to molybdenum(III) with a Jones reductor, followed by reoxidation to molybdenum(VI) with iron(III). The resulting iron(II) is complexed with ferrozine, and the absorbance of the complex measured at 562 run. In this manner, submicroamounts of silicate can be determined.  相似文献

A simple method is described for the rapid spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum in samples containing 1-60% Mo, with satisfactory accuracy. Molybdenum is reduced with excess of hydrazine sulphate in boiling 5.5M hydrochloric acid and extracted with isoamyl acetate from 7M hydrochloric acid. The green colour is measured at 720 nm against a reagent blank. Beer's law is obeyed over the range 0.08-5.4 mg of molybdenum per ml. Interference from iron and copper is removed by adding stannous chloride and thiourea respectively in slight excess. Titanium, vanadium, niobium, chromium, tungsten, nickel, uranium, and antimony do not interfere even in large amounts. Only cobalt interferes seriously.  相似文献

A simple and rapid spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum is described. The molybdenum thiosulphate complex is extracted into isoamyl alcohol from 1·0–1·5M hydrochloric acid containing 36–40 mg of Na2S2O3·5H2O per ml. The absorbance at λmax = 475 nm obeys Beer's law over the range 0–32 μg of Mo per ml of solvent phase. Up to 5 mg/ml of Ti(IV), V(V), Cr(VI), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), U(VI), W(VI), Sb(III), 1 mg/ml of Cu(II), Sn(II), Bi(V) and 10 μg/ml of Pt(IV) and Pd(II) do not interfere. Large amounts of complexing agents interfere. The method has been applied to analysis of synthetic and industrial samples.  相似文献

A spectrophotometric method has been developed for determination of trace amounts of platinum in glass. The method is based on the extraction of platinum(II) from 1M hydrochloric acid containing 0.2M stannous chloride and 4 x 10(-4)M dithizone onto polyurethane foam, elution with acetone (containing 3% v/v concentrated hydrochloric acid) and measurement of the absorbance of the eluate at 530 nm. Beer's law is obeyed up to 10.0 microg/ml Pt. The minimum platinum level in the eluate that can be determined by this method is 0.1 microg/ml.  相似文献
