Focused proton beam writing has been utilized to fabricate optical channel waveguides in Nd:GGG crystals. The 1?MeV proton beam irradiation creates a local modified region with positive refractive index changes at the end of the proton trajectory, in which the channel waveguide could confine the light field in a symmetric way. Room-temperature laser emission has been achieved at 1063.7?nm, with absorbed pump power of 61?mW (at 808?nm). The obtained slope efficiency of the Nd:GGG waveguide laser system is as high as 66%, which is, to our best knowledge, the highest value for integrated lasers from ion beam processed channel waveguide systems.  相似文献

We report on the generation of continuous wave lasers at a wavelength of ∼1064 nm in a Nd:YAG ceramic waveguide at room temperature. The waveguide was fabricated by using 6 MeV carbon ion implantation at a fluence of 3×1014 ions/cm2. Laser operation has been realized with a slope efficiency as high as ∼11%. The pump threshold of an 808-nm laser beam for the waveguide laser oscillation is 19.5 mW.  相似文献

A continuous-wave distributed feedback diode laser emitting at 976 nm was frequency doubled by the use of a periodically poled lithium niobate waveguide crystal with a channel size of 3 microm x 5 microm and an interaction length of 10 mm. A laser to waveguide coupling efficiency of 75% could be achieved resulting in 304 mW of incident infrared light inside the waveguide. Blue laser light emission of 159 mW at 488 nm has been generated, which equals to a conversion efficiency of 52%. The resulting wall plug efficiency was 7.4%.  相似文献

A novel self-align method has been developed for the fabrication of 980 nm ridge waveguide laser diodes. It utilizes the facts that (1) the thickness of photoresist on the ridge top is substantially less than that in its vicinity and (2) their respective exposure times differ accordingly. Except for replacing the second photolithographic step with a simple flood-exposure, the fabrication procedure is identical to that for conventional ridge waveguide laser diodes. No additional materials or processing steps are required. As a result, the laser fabrication is significantly simplified with excellent reproducibility.  相似文献

The 940 nm Al-free active region laser diodes and bars with a broad waveguide were designed and fabricated. The stuctures were grown by metal organic chemical vapour deposition. The devices show excellent performances. The maximum output power of 6.7 W in the 100 μm broad-area laser diodes has been measured, and is 2.5 times higher than that in the Al-containing active region laser diodes with a narrow waveguide and 1.7 times higher than that in Al-free active region laser diodes with a narrow waveguide. The 19% fill-factor laser diode bars emit 33 W, and they can operate at 15W with low degradation rates.  相似文献

制作了基于KMnF_3∶Yb~(3+),Er~(3+)纳米晶材料的工作波长655 nm的聚合物平面光波导放大器。材料的吸收光谱表明,KMnF_3∶Yb~(3+),Er~(3+)纳米晶在980 nm附近有很强的吸收。在980 nm激光的激发下,由于Er~(3+)和Mn2+能级之间的能量传递,KMnF_3∶Yb~(3+),Er~(3+)纳米晶产生了很强的红色上转换发光。根据KMnF_3∶Yb~(3+),Er~(3+)纳米粒子的发光特性,制备了KMnF_3∶Yb~(3+),Er~(3+)NCs-PMMA复合材料,用其作为芯层设计了掩埋形结构光波导放大器,利用传统的半导体工艺完成器件制备。器件测试结果表明,当655 nm信号光功率为0.1 m W、980 nm泵浦功率为260 m W时,器件获得了2.7 d B的相对增益。  相似文献

We fabricated waveguides in Pr:SrAl(12)O(19) crystals by direct femtosecond laser writing. The propagation losses were calculated to be as low as 0.16 dB/cm at a wavelength of 633 nm. Laser oscillation in a diode-pumped waveguide at a wavelength of 643.5 nm was realized. The output power of the waveguide laser was 28.1 mW at a slope efficiency of 8%.  相似文献

We report the fabrication and performance of the first C-band directly written monolithic waveguide laser (WGL). The WGL device was created in an erbium- and ytterbium-doped phosphate glass host and consisted of an optical waveguide that included a distributed feedback Bragg grating structure. The femtosecond laser direct-write technique was used to create both the waveguide and the waveguide-Bragg grating simultaneously and in a single processing step. The waveguide laser was optically pumped at approximately 980 nm and lased at 1,537 nm with a bandwidth of less than 4 pm.  相似文献

We demonstrated the spectrally narrowed laser emission from all-plastic organic waveguide with the distributed feedback (DFB) resonator pumped by Ti-sapphire femtosecond laser. We fabricated the DFB resonator on a surface of a photoresist polymer using an interference of laser beams. All-plastic waveguide with organic dyes dispersed in poly(N-vinylcarbazole) and polystyrene matrix was spin-coated on a DFB resonator. Very narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 0.15 nm in emission wavelength was observed, whereas an excitation laser of Ti-sapphire femtosecond laser has broad FWHM of 14 nm.  相似文献

We report a 790 nm pumped, Tm3? doped ZBLAN glass buried waveguide laser that produces 47 mW at 1880 nm, with a 50% internal slope efficiency and an M2 of 1.7. The waveguide cladding is defined by two overlapping rings created by femtosecond direct-writing of the glass, which results in the formation of a tubular depressed-index-cladding structure, and the laser resonator is defined by external dielectric mirrors. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the most efficient laser created in a glass host via femtosecond waveguide writing.  相似文献

We report what is to our knowledge the first laser operation of Nd(3+) -doped LiNbO(3) near 900 nm. An absorbed power threshold of 26 mW was obtained when the device was pumped at 814 nm. The design of the waveguide geometry to favor laser operation at this wavelength is demonstrated.  相似文献

A waveguide dye laser with an inner diameter of 30 μm and a length of 1.0 nm has been excited with a pulsed GaAlAs diode laser. The infrared-absorbing dye 5,5′-dichloro-11-diphenylamino-3,3′-diethyl-10,12-ethylenethiatri- carbocyanine perchlorate was used in tetramethylene sulfoxide solution. By changing dye concentration, laser wavelengths from 950 to 1005 nm were obtained.  相似文献

基于波导理论、等效折射率方法,设计并制备了非对称波导隔离双沟结构脊型边发射激光器,最终获得了低闽值单基侧模852 nm激光器.详细研究了不同脊型台深宽比参数设计对激光器侧向模式特性的影响规律,实现了腔面未镀膜情况下脊型波导边发射激光器的单基侧模稳定输出,同时激射波长可以精确调谐到852 nm;工作电流达到150 mA,工作温度30℃;斜率效率最高可达0.89 nW/mA,光谱半宽小于1 nm.研究结果为进一步实现超窄线宽激光器提供了参考和借鉴,并且为实现激光器稳定输出提供了实验基础.  相似文献

Laser action is demonstrated in a 20-mm-long waveguide fabricated on an Er:Yb-doped phosphate glass by femtosecond laser pulses. An output power of 1.7 mW with approximately 300 mW of pump power coupled into the waveguide is obtained at 1533.5 nm. Waveguides are manufactured with the 520-nm radiation from a frequency-doubled, diode-pumped, cavity-dumped Yb:glass laser operating at a 166-KHz repetition rate, with a 300-fs pulse duration.  相似文献

Photoluminescence (PL) with the bandwidth of 45 nm (1523-1568 nm at the level of 3 dB) was observed in amorphous Er2O3 films grown on to the quartz substrate by pulsed laser ablation of erbium oxide stoichiometric target. Optical transmission spectrum has been fitted to Swanepoel formula to determine the dispersion of refractive index and to extract resonance absorption peaks at 980 and 1535 nm. The maximum gain coefficient of 800 dB/cm at 1535 nm was estimated using McCumber theory and experimental spectrum of the resonance absorption. In 5.7 mm-long waveguide amplifier a theory predicts the spectral gain of 20 dB with 1.4 dB peak-to-peak flatness in the bandwidth of 31 nm (1532-1563 nm) when 73% of Er3+ ions are excited from the ground state to the 4I13/2 laser level. Strong broadband PL at room temperature and inherently flat spectral gain promise Er2O3 films for ultra-short high-gain optical waveguide amplifiers and integrated light circuits.  相似文献

A vacuum-cored hollow waveguide has been found to transmit 1064-nm, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser pulses. With this scheme, laser-induced air breakdown was completely suppressed, and the laser-induced damage threshold of the waveguide's inner coating was significantly increased. With a 1-m-long, 1-mm inner-diameter, cyclic olefin polymer-coated silver hollow waveguide, the maximum transmitted laser energy was as great as 158 mJ/pulse (20.1 J/cm(2)), at a repetition rate of 10 Hz in a 90 degrees -bent waveguide condition. The corresponding transmitted peak laser power was 17.6 MW. With the transmitted laser pulses, deep ablation of myocardium tissues was demonstrated in vitro.  相似文献
