We carry out the numerical simulations of femtosecond laser propagation with TEMoo mode, TEM10 mode and a beam combining both the modes in fused silica. It is found that the transverse size of plasma zones induced by laser pulses with the TEM10 mode is smaller than that induced by the TEM00 mode, while the longitudinal size is almost the same, and the saturated plasma density is higher. The transverse size, the longitudinal size and the ratio of the longitudinal to transverse size, for the beam combining both the modes, all could be reduced at the same time in comparison with the TEM00 mode under the same focusing conditions.  相似文献

基于TEM10模拉盖尔-高斯光束,推导自由空间量子密钥分配中单光子捕获概率表达式。针对低轨卫星-地面站间激光链路进行单光子捕获分析。结果表明:采用可高度衰减激光脉冲的TEM10模拉盖尔-高斯光束作为单光子源,单光子捕获采用前驱波参考脉冲设置时间窗口的方法,可使卫星上接收机以最大概率捕获光子。与基模高斯光束相比,采用TEM10模拉盖尔-高斯光束的优点是,不会由于卫星运动而增加单光子捕获概率的损耗。  相似文献

In this paper, we numerically investigate the relativistic self-focusing of laser beam with LG01 mode in plasmas. An effective potential is introduced to identify the critical power. Numerical methods are employed to solve the governing equations. To verify the numerical procedures, we compare the known analytical solution of the relativistic critical power for TEM00 mode with our numerical method. It is shown that there is a good agreement between our numerical results and the analytical solution. The critical power for relativistic self-focusing of a LG01 laser beam is about 6 times of that for a TEM00 laser beam.  相似文献

Our recent work revealed that speckles can be formed when nanofluids containing a proper volume fraction of nanoparticles are illuminated by a monochromatic laser beam [Qian M, Liu J, Yan M-S, Shen Z-H, Lu J, Ni XW, et al. Investigation on utilizing laser speckle velocimetry to measure the velocities of nanoparticles in nanofluids. Opt Express 2006; 14: 7559–66]. In this paper, two different physical models are established to figure out the speckle-formation mechanism. The photon–nanoparticle-collision model emphasizes the random collisions between photons and nanoparticles, and Monte Carlo method is used to simulate how the incident photons move in the vessel containing nanofluids. However, in the electric-dipole model, each illuminated nanoparticle becomes an electric dipole and sends out scattering lights, and the coherent addition of the scattering lights from nanoparticles is numerically calculated. Finally, from the numerical results, the speckle-formation mechanism is figured out.  相似文献

Diffraction of symmetrical Laguerre-Gauss TEMp0 beams incident on an opaque disk known as a stop is considered. The near- and far-field patterns are studied. Thanks to zero-field occluding, conversion from TEM10 beam to dark hollow beam can be achieved with better efficiency than from a TEM00 beam. It is shown that the fundamental mode of a laser cavity including a diaphragm and a stop can be TEM00- or TEM10-like in shape depending on their size. This result is interpreted from the new divergence hierarchy, which characterises the diffracted TEMp0 beams emerging from the stop.  相似文献

The cross-focusing of two co-axial transverse modes of a laser beam viz. TEM00 and TEM01 modes of the same frequency in a non-linear dielectric has been studied. When the TEM00 mode is stronger than the TEM01 mode, both modes focus on the axis. In the opposite case, defocusing occurs at the axis and energy concentrates in a ring.  相似文献

The influence of LD temperature fluctuation on the performance of corner pumped TEM00 CW composite Nd:YAG laser was investigated by numerical ray tracing method and experiment. Both the theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the corner-pumped TEM00 laser has a good tolerance to temperature fluctuation. At a drive current of 40 A, when the LD temperature varies from 15 to 25°C the fluctuation of output power as less than 5% and the beam quality remains almost invariable.  相似文献

High-power, high-repetition-rate extra-cavity third harmonic generation of 355 nm with high beam quality has been developed. The acoustic-optical Q-switched Nd:YVO4 MOPA laser including 2- and 4-stage amplifiers was used as the IR source. With the extra-cavity frequency conversion of LBO crystals, 30.2 W TEM00-mode 355 nm UV laser was obtained with a 2-stage amplifier MOPA laser, and the optical-to-optical (1064 nm to 355 nm) conversion efficiency was up to 30%. Enhanced 43 W TEM00 UV laser at 60 kHz was achieved with a 4-stage amplifier MOPA IR laser, and pulse duration was 10.7 ns corresponding to the peak power as high as 67 kW, with single pulse energy of 0.72 mJ. The optical–optical efficiencies from IR and diodes to UV were 28% and 10% respectively.  相似文献

The effects produced by a birefringent rod on the beam quality factor,M infr sup2 , of a Gaussian TEM00 laser beam are studied. Analytical expressions for the beam parameters at the output plane of a rod amplifier are derived. Diffraction losses are estimated for TEM00, TEM01, and TEM10 modes which can be generated in complex resonators. Dependences of the output power of the laser operating in the regime of transverse oscillation suppression on the transmission of the mirror are obtained. Optimal relationships between the field stop aperture area and the optical beam cross section are determined as functions of the gain of the active medium.  相似文献

Ultrahigh-efficiency TEM00 operation is demonstrated in a diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser in a bounce amplifier geometry using a specially designed astigmatically optimised cavity configuration. Optical efficiency >68% is demonstrated and up to 27.1 W of output power for multimode operation. For single-mode TEM00 operation, an output power of 23.1 W for 39.5 W of diode pumping was produced with beam propagation parameters of Mx 2=1.3 and My 2=1.1. In material processing, a laser system with optimal laser parameters has been considered to be significant. Especially, the laser ablation technology is thought to be very important for fabricating a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) module with good quality. Moreover, the TEM00 mode laser beam is the most dominant factor to decide the incident photon to current conversion efficiency (IPCE) characteristics. In order to get the TEM00 mode, a pin-hole is inserted within a simple pulsed Nd:YAG laser resonator. And the spatial field distribution is measured by using three pin-hole diameters of 1.6, 2.0 and 4.0 mm, respectively. At that moment, each case has the same laser beam energy by adjusting the discharge voltage and pulse per second (pps). From those results, it is known that the pin-hole size of 1.6 mm has the perfect TEM00 mode. In addition, at the charging voltage of 1000 V, 10 pps, the feeding speed of 6.08 mm/s and the overlapping rate (OL) of 62%, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) photograph of fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) thin film layers shows the best ablation trace.  相似文献

We report a compact, conduction-cooled, highly efficient, continuous wave (CW) Nd:YAG slab laser in diode-side-pumped geometry. To achieve high efficiency, a novel laser head for Nd:YAG slab has been developed. For an absorbed pump power of 27.6 W, maximum output power of 10.4 W in multimode and 8.2 W in near-diffraction-limited beam quality has been obtained. Slope and optical-to-optical conversion efficiencies are 45.3% and 37.7% in multimode with beam quality factors (M2) in x and y directions equal to 32 and 8, respectively. TEM00 mode operation was achieved in a hybrid resonator with slope and optical-to-optical conversion efficiencies of 43.2% and 29.7%, respectively. Beam quality factors in x and y directions are ?1.5 and ?1.6 for the whole output power range. The laser radiation was linearly polarized and polarization contrast ratios are >1200:1 in the multimode and 1800:1 in the TEM00 mode operation. In passive Q-switching with Cr4+:YAG crystal of 68% initial transmission, 18 ns pulsewidth has been achieved with an average power of 2 W at a repetition rate of 16 kHz.  相似文献

A new and simple technique for measuring the effective diameter of a laser beam used in material processing is described. The time for the temperature of a spot heated by the laser beam to rise to 90% of equilibrium is compared with that predicted theoretically for a Gaussian TEM00 laser beam. A Gaussian beam diameter equivalent is thus deduced. This calculated diameter is of particular relevance to applications where the laser is used as a heat source.  相似文献

The Q-switched laser with triangle slab made of Nd:YAG crystal side pumped by 600-W quasi-cw diode laser stack has been designed. The multimode (M2≈2.6) output energy of about 42 mJ was demonstrated in free running mode for110-mJ pump energy. In Q-switch experiments, the KDDP Pockels cell was placed between the slab and rear mirror in plane-plane cavity with output coupler of 84% transmission. The energy of 8 mJ in 2.1-ns pulse duration was obtained for near TEM00 output beam. For passive Q-switching by means of Cr:YAG crystal of 12.6% unsaturated transmission, the energy of 5.1 mJ in 2.5-ns pulse duration was obtained for output beam close to TEM00 mode.  相似文献

Frequency splitting phenomenon of dual transverse modes in a Nd:YAG laser   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We observed frequency splitting phenomenon of dual transverse modes (TEM00q and TEM01q) in a Nd:YAG microchip standing wave laser utilizing intracavity stress birefringence effects. Four resonance frequencies (ν00qe, ν00qo, ν01qe, and ν01qo, respectively) were produced and tuned by changing the diametral compression force applied on the laser crystal. The transverse mode frequency spacing for the same longitudinal mode number (Δνtrans) was 1.16 GHz, and the magnitude of frequency splitting (Δν) ranged from 0 MHz to 1.16 GHz. Based on this phenomenon, a four-mode differential standing wave laser, whose signal characteristics were a little like those of a four-mode differential travelling wave laser gyro however with a much larger frequency splitting range, was produced. The theoretical analysis is in good agreement with the experimental results. This phenomenon not only can be used to make lasers with two or more frequency differences, but also can be used to make high-resolution self-sensing laser sensors (e.g. laser force sensors and laser accelerometers).  相似文献

Second harmonic (SH) power of the type-II phase matching in KTiOPO4 (KTP) is calculated for the fundamental beams of TEM00 mode within the near field approximation (parallel Gaussian beam) taking the beam walk-off effect among the two fundamental and the SH beams into account. The slit intensity and the total SH power are calculated as functions of the beam radius and the crystal length. Two approximations are made for the SH power calculation at tight beam focusing condition. The measurements of the SH power in KTP are carried out for three crystals of 6, 3, and 1.5 mm thickness. The effective nonlinear coefficient for Nd: YAG incident radiation is estimated to be 4.3 pm/V with 10% uncertainty, taking the enhancement factor due to the multimode structure of the laser beam into account.  相似文献

Effects of an intracavity phase step on the spectral and spatial characteristics of pulsed dye laser radiation are studied. In the broadband operation regime of the dye laser, the lasing spectrum was strongly, periodically modulated. In the narrowband regime, periodic alteration between TEM00 and TEM01-like beam profiles is observed on tuning the laser wavelength. Two different spectral periods of these effects are recognized. The shorter period corresponds to double passage and the longer one to apparent single passage of intracavity light through the phase step on a cavity round trip. Depending on the position of the phase step along the laser cavity, single-passage period, double-passage period, or a superposition of both periods appeared in the broadband emission spectrum and in the beam profile alteration sequence. These observations demonstrate several possibilities for the control of spectral, spatial, and phase characteristics of laser beams by simple intracavity phase elements.  相似文献
