The Cu-TiO2 nanoparticles with different Cu dopant content were prepared by sol-gel method. The structure of the as-prepared catalysts and the surface species of Cu-TiO2 were determined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS). The relationship between the photocatalytic activity and the surface species of Cu-TiO2 was revealed via the measurement of surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS) as well as the degradation of the rhodamine B (RhB). The experimental results suggest that the Cu-TiO2 photocatalysts with appropriate content of Cu (about 0.06 mol%) possess abundant electronic trap, which effectively inhibits the recombination of photoinduced charge carriers, improving the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. While at high Cu dopant region (>0.06 mol%), the excessive oxygen vacancies and Cu species can become the recombination centers of photoinduced electrons and holes. Meanwhile, at heavy Cu doping concentration, excessive P-type Cu2O can cover the surface of TiO2, which leads to decrease in the photocatalytic activity of photocatalyst. The photocatalytic experimental results are in good agreement with the conclusions of SPS measurements, indicating that there is a close relationship between the photocatalytic activity and the intensity of SPS spectra.  相似文献

A novel and simple method for preparing F-doped anatase TiO2 (defined as FTO) film with high photocatalytic activity was developed using titanium-n-butoxide and NH4F as TiO2 and fluorine precursors under mild condition, i.e. low temperature (lower than 373 K) and ambient pressure. The prepared samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), diffuse reflectance spectrum (DRS), photoluminescence spectrum (PL) and TG-DSC analysis. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by decomposing X-3B under artificial solar light. The results showed that the crystallinity of TiO2 was improved by F-doping. F ions can prevent the grain growth, and the transformation of anatase to rutile phase was also inhibited. The doped fluorine atoms existed in two chemical forms, and the ones incorporated into TiO2 lattice might take a positive role in photocatalysis. Compared with surface fluorination samples, FTO film exhibited better photocatalytic activity. The high photocatalytic activity of FTO may due to extrinsic absorption through the creation of oxygen vacancies rather than the excitation of the intrinsic absorption band of bulk TiO2. Furthermore, the FTO can be recycled with little photocatalytic activity depression. Without any further treatment besides rinsing, after 6 recycle utilization, the photocatalytic activity of FTO film was still higher than 79%.  相似文献

The iron(III)-ion doped TiO2 (Fe3+-TiO2) with different doping Fe3+ content were prepared via a sol-gel method. The as-prepared Fe3+-TiO2 nanoparticles were investigated by means of surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS), field-induced surface photovoltage spectroscopy (FISPS), and the photoelectrochemical properties of Fe3+-TiO2 catalysts with different Fe3+ content are performed by electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) as well as photocatalytic degradation of RhB are studied under illuminating. Based on the experiment results, the mechanism of photoinduced carriers separation and recombination of Fe3+-TiO2 was revealed: that is, the Fe3+ captures the photoinduced electrons, inhibiting the recombination of photoinduced electron-hole pairs, this favors to the photocatalytic reaction at low doping concentration (Fe/Ti ≤ 0.03 mol%); while Fe3+ dopant content exceeds 0.03 mol%, Fe2O3 became the recombination centers of photoinduced electrons and holes because of that the interaction of Fe2O3 with TiO2 leads to that the photoinduced electrons and holes of TiO2 transfer to Fe2O3 and recombine quickly, which is unfavorable to the photocatalytic reaction.  相似文献

Reverse microemulsions, consisting of n-hexanol, Triton X-100, Cyclohexane and aqueous salt solutions, were used to synthesize BiOI, TiO2 and BiOI/TiO2 hybrid nanoparticles at room temperature. The particles had been characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, FT-IR spectra, TG-DSC analysis, nitrogen sorption, electron microscopy, and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic properties of those particles were evaluated by degradation of methyl orange under visible light irradiation. The BiOI/TiO2 composites showed about 5 times higher photocatalytic performances than BiOI when the mole ratio of BiOI to TiO2 was 75%. The remarkable enhancement in the visible light photocatalytic activities of the BiOI/TiO2 heterostructures could be first attributed to the effective electron-hole separations at the interfaces of the two semiconductors, which facilitated the transfer of the photoinduced carriers. Meanwhile, the heterojunction formed between BiOI and TiO2 would further retard the recombination of photoinduced carriers. In addition, high degree of crystallization, bimodal porous structure, relative large specific surface area, and appropriate energy band gap have great contribution to the enhancement of photocatalytic performance.  相似文献

In this study, TiO2−xNx/TiO2 double layers thin film was deposited on ZnO (80 nm thickness)/soda-lime glass substrate by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The TiO2 film was deposited under different total gas pressures of 1 Pa, 2 Pa, and 4 Pa with constant oxygen flow rate of 0.8 sccm. Then, the deposition was continued with various nitrogen flow rates of 0.4, 0.8, and 1.2 sccm in constant total gas pressure of 4 Pa. Post annealing was performed on as-deposited films at various annealing temperatures of 400, 500, and 600 °C in air atmosphere to achieve films crystallinity. The structure and morphology of deposited films were evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The chemical composition of top layer doped by nitrogen was evaluated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Photocatalytic activity of samples was measured by degradation of Methylene Blue (MB) dye. The optical transmittance of the multilayer film was also measured using ultraviolet-visible light (UV-vis) spectrophotometer. The results showed that by nitrogen doping of a fraction (∼1/5) of TiO2 film thickness, the optical transmittance of TiO2−xNx/TiO2 film was compared with TiO2 thin film. Deposited films showed also good photocatalytic and hydrophilicity activity at visible light.  相似文献

Increasing environmental pollution caused by the volatile organic compounds due to their toxicity makes their removal imperative. So it is crucial to develop processes which can degrade these compounds effectively. The paper demonstrates that the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 toward the decomposition of gaseous benzene in a batch reactor can be greatly enhanced by loading TiO2 onto the surface of CexZr1−xO2 (x ≥ 0.25) using sol-gel technology. This research investigated the relationship between x amount and the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, UV-vis diffuse reflectance and XPS analyses. The specific surface area of photocatalyst decreases as x decreases. XRD results reveal the no peaks of titania were detected. Among the five catalysts prepared, only the binding energy values of Ti2p3/2 of TiO2/Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 shift toward lower value. The order of photocatalytic activity is TiO2/Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 > TiO2/Ce0.75Zr0.25O2 > TiO2/CeO2 ≈ TiO2/Ce0.25Zr0.75O2 > TiO2/ZrO2 ≈ TiO2. The mechanism role of Ceria-Zirconia mixed oxides in photocatalytic reaction was speculated.  相似文献

To use solar irradiation or interior lighting efficiently, we sought a photocatalyst with high reactivity under visible light. Nitrogen and carbon doping TiO2−xyNxCy films were obtained by heating the TiO2 gel in an ionized N2 gas and then were calcined at 500 °C. The TiO2−xyNxCy films have revealed an improvement over the TiO2 films under visible light (wavelength, 500 nm) in optical absorption and photocatalytic activity such as photodegradation of methyl orange. X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, infrared spectrum and UV-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy were used to find the difference of two kinds of films. Nitrogen and carbon doped into substitutional sites of TiO2 has been proven to be indispensable for band-gap narrowing and photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Nanostructure titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been synthesized by hydrolysis of titanium tetrachloride in aqueous solution and Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by photoreduction method. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. The experimental results showed that the sizes of the synthesized TiO2 and Ag-TiO2 particles are in the range of 1.9-3.2 nm and 2-10 nm, respectively. Moreover, Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles exhibit enhanced photocatalytic activity on photodegradation of Safranin-O (SO) dye as compared to pure TiO2. The positive effect of silver on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 may be explained by its ability to trap electrons. This process reduces the recombination of light generated electron-hole pairs at TiO2 surface and therefore enhances the photocatalytic activity of the synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles. The effects of initial dye and nanoparticle concentrations on the photocatalytic activity have been studied and the results demonstrate that the dye photodegradation follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. The observed maximum degradation efficiency of SO is about 60% for TiO2 and 96% for Ag-TiO2.  相似文献

Antifungal activity of TiO2/ZnO nanostructures under visible light irradiation was investigated. A simple chemical method was used to synthesize ZnO nanowires. Zinc acetate dihydrate, Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone and deionized water were used as precursor, capping and solvent, respectively. TiO2 nanoparticles were deposited on ZnO nanowires using an atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition system. X-ray diffraction pattern of TiO2/ZnO nano-composite has represented the diffraction peaks relating to the crystal planes of the TiO2 (anatase and rutile) and ZnO. TiO2/ZnO nanostructure antifungal effect on Candida albicans biofilms was studied and compared with the activity of TiO2 nanoparticles and ZnO nanowires. The high efficiency photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles leads to increased antifungal activity of ZnO nanowires. Scanning electron microscope was utilized to study the morphology of the as prepared nanostructures and the degradation of the yeast.  相似文献

The effect of Cl ions on photooxidation of propylene on TiO2 semiconductor was investigated. Cl/TiO2 catalysts were prepared by annealing Degussa P25 TiO2 in the gas flow of N2 and Cl2 under 100-400 °C. The photocatalytic oxidation of propylene was carried out in a continuous flow system, with the chromatograph to analyze the products on line. The experimental results showed that the activity of Cl/TiO2 catalysts increased as heat-treated temperature decreased. The activity of the sample heat-treated at 100 °C was about two times higher than that of pure TiO2. Moreover, as to TiO2, the main product of the propylene photocatalytic oxidation was CO2, but with Cl/TiO2 catalysts, not only CO2 but also trace CO was determined. The adsorbed species on TiO2 surface before and after reaction were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and thermogravimetric/differential thermal analyses (TG-DTA) coupled to a mass spectrometer (MS). XPS analysis showed that there was Cl absorbed on the Cl/TiO2 surface, and the absorption amount of Cl decreased after the photooxidation reaction of propylene. TG-DTA-MS analysis confirmed chlorine absorbed on the surface of TiO2 in the form of Cl ion. These results illuminated that absorbed Cl on the surface of TiO2 formed a weak physical absorption on TiO2 at low temperature, and subsequently participated in the photooxidation of propylene, finally removed from TiO2 surface.  相似文献

The crystal structure, electronic structure, optical properties and photocatalytic activity of the native defects in anatase TiO2 were investigated based on the density-functional theory (DFT). The results show that oxygen vacancies (VO) have the lowest formation energy, and thus are easiest to form in the bulk structure. The conduction and valence band moves to the high or low energy region, and the energy gap becomes narrower for the native point defect models. In particular, oxygen interstitials (Oi) have a direct band gap, and new gap states appear in the band gap, which can be responsible for the high photocatalytic efficiency in anatase TiO2. The phenomenon of “impurity compensation” takes place for the oxygen and titanium interstitials. Ti vacancy (VTi) can promote the utilization of solar light by analyzing the absorption spectra. All the calculated results show that Oi and VTi are beneficial in improving the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 in the UV–visible light range.  相似文献

The adsorption, photoreduction and chemical activity of oxygen molecules on the (1 0 0) anatase surface have been investigated here together with the effects that surface oxygen vacancies (VO) can have on these O2-related processes. We use an original approach by treating molecules on the TiO2 surface like surface defects in the same framework successfully used for defects in semiconductors. The achieved results: (i) give the first theoretical evidence of an acceptor behaviour of an adsorbed O2 molecule, which is at the origin of its photoreduction; (ii) show that the VO donor character is strongly affected by the interaction with O2; and (iii) suggest that the release of radicals as well as the formation of O2-related radicals may be favoured by photogenerated electrons in presence of surface VO’s.  相似文献

In the present work the influence of the OH groups on the photocatalytic activity and the photoinduced hydrophilicity of microwave assisted sol-gel TiO2 films was investigated. The prepared TiO2 films were characterized using XRD and AFM. Furthermore, the surface of the TiO2 films was examined by help of XPS in order to determine the amount of OH groups before and after UV irradiation at different humidities. The activity of the TiO2 films was determined using stearic acid as a model compound and the photoinduced superhydrophilicity was investigated through contact angle measurements. The results of this investigation showed that the microwave assisted sol-gel technique produces highly homogeneous and efficient TiO2 films without the need for heat treatment for crystallization. Based on the conducted experiments it is suggested that the amount of OH groups on the TiO2 surface highly influence the photocatalytic activity and the photoinduced superhydrophilicity and that the two mechanisms may be closely related. It is suggested that the superhydrophilicity is obtained through a combination of photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants and surface structural changes in form of an increased amount of OH-groups.

The nanoparticles of TiO2 modified with carbon and iron were synthesized by sol-gel followed solvothermal method at low temperature. Its chemical composition and optical absorption were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), photoluminescence emission spectroscopy (PL), UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). It was found that carbon and iron modification causes the absorption edge of TiO2 to shift the visible light region. Fe(III) cation could be doped into the matrix of TiO2, by which could hinder the recombination rate of excited electrons/holes. Superior photocatalytic activity of TiO2 modified with carbon and iron was observed for the decomposition of acid orange 7 (AO7) under visible light irradiation. The synergistic effects of carbon and iron in modified TiO2 nanoparticles were responsible for improving visible light photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

Silver nanorods with average diameters of 120-230 nm and aspect ratio of 1.7-5.0 were deposited on the surface of TiO2 films by photoelectrochemical reduction of Ag+ to Ag under UV light. The composite films prepared on soda-lime glass substrates were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results show that the TiO2 film after UV irradiation in AgNO3 solution is composed of anatase phase TiO2 and metallic silver with face centered cubic structure. Other compounds cannot be found in the final films. The maximum deposition content of silver particles on the surface of TiO2 film was obtained with the AgNO3 concentration of 0.1 M. The kinetic growth rates of silver particles can be controlled by photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films. The studies suggest that the growth rates of silver particles increase with the enhancement of photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films. The maximum growth rate of silver particles loaded on TiO2 films can be up to 0.353 nm min−1 among samples 1#, 2# and 3#, while the corresponding apparent rate constant of TiO2 is 1.751 × 10−3 min−1.  相似文献

In order to get photocatalysts with desired morphologies and enhanced visible light responses, the Fe-doped TiO2 nanorod clusters and monodispersed nanoparticles were prepared by modified hydrothermal and solvothermal method, respectively. The microstructures and morphologies of TiO2 crystals can be controlled by restraining the hydrolytic reaction rates. The Fe-doped photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis absorption spectroscopy (UV-vis), N2 adsorption-desorption measurement (BET), and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The refinements of the microstructures and morphologies result in the enhancement of the specific surface areas. The Fe3+-dopants in TiO2 lattices not only lead to the significantly extending of the optical responses from UV to visible region but also diminish the recombination rates of the electrons and holes. The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by photocatalytic decomposition of formaldehyde in air under visible light illumination. Compared with P25 (TiO2) and N-doped TiO2 nanoparticles, the Fe-doped photocatalysts show high photocatalytic activities under visible light.

Vermiculite was treated by sulfuric or nitric acid aqueous solutions with different concentration. These modified materials as the promising supports, were used to immobilize TiO2. TiO2 was prepared by the precursor, which was obtained by substituting partly isopropyl alcohol with Cl in titanium chloride {[Ti(IV)(OR)nClm] (n = 2-3, m = 4 − n)}. The TiO2/vermiculite composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and the nitrogen absorption. Their photocatalytic activity was evaluated by removal of methylene blue (MB). The pure anatase type crystalline phase was well deposited on the supports. The concentrations of acid for treatment had a significant influence on pore sizes and surface area of vermiculite. The treatment process changed microstructure of vermiculite, modified its characteristics, and farther improved the catalytic activity and absorption capacity of TiO2/vermiculite composites. The treatment effect of nitric acid was superior to that of sulfuric acid.  相似文献

Fe3O4@ZnO binary nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple two-step chemical method and characterized using various analytical instruments. TEM result proved the binary nanoparticles have core/shell structures and average particle size is 60 nm. Photocatalytic investigation of Fe3O4@ZnO core/shell nanoparticles was carried out using rhodamine B (RhB) solution under UV light. Fe3O4@ZnO core/shell nanoparticles showed enhanced photocatalytic performance in comparison with the as prepared ZnO nanoparticles. The enhanced photocatalytic activity for Fe3O4@ZnO might be resulting from the higher concentration of surface oxygen vacancies and the suppressing effect of the Fe3+ ions on the recombination of photoinduced electron–hole pairs. Magnetization saturation value (5.96 emu/g) of Fe3O4@ZnO core/shell nanoparticles is high enough to be magnetically removed by applying a magnetic field. The core/shell photocatalyst can be easily separated by using a commercial magnet and almost no decrease in photocatalytic efficiency was observed even after recycling six times.  相似文献
