The Roper-Suffridge extension operator and classes of biholomorphic mappings

In this paper we give a survey about the Roper-Suffridge extension operator and the developments in the theory of univalent mappings in several variables to which it has led. We begin with the basic geometric properties (most of which now have a number of different proofs) and discuss relations with the theory of Loewner chains and generalizations and modifications of the operator, some of which are very recent. Dedicated to Professor Sheng GONG on the occasion of his 75th birthday     

The generalized decomposition theorem in Banach spaces and its applications

In this paper, we first give a simple proof of the decomposition theorem in Alber (Field Inst. Comm. 25 (2000) 77) and then present a new decomposition of arbitrary elements in reflexive strictly convex and smooth Banach spaces. As applications of the decomposition theorem, we give the representations of the metric projection operator for some kind of closed convex sets. Finally, we provide a sufficient condition under which the generalized projection operator coincides with the metric projection operator.

Roper-Suffridge算子上的偏差定理下界估计的简单证明

Liczberski-Starkov first found a lower bound for ||D(f)|| near the origin, where is the Roper-Suffridge operator on the unit ball Bn in Cn and F is a normalized convex function on the unit disk. Later, Liczberski-Starkov and Hamada-Kohr proved the lower bound holds on the whole unit ball using a complex computation. Here we provide a rather short and easy proof for the lower bound. Similarly, when F is a normalized starlike function on the unit disk, a lower bound of ||D(f)|| is obtained again.     

Weyl type theorems and hypercyclic operators II

In this note, the relation between hypercyclic operator matrices (or supercyclic operator matrices) and the operator matrices which satisfy Weyl type theorems is discussed. Also, using a variant of the essential approximate point spectrum, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for for which a-Browder's theorem or a-Weyl's theorem holds.

     

Existence of radial solutions for an asymptotically linear p-Laplacian problem

We prove that an asymptotically linear Dirichlet problem which involves the p-Laplacian operator has multiple radial solutions when the nonlinearity has a positive zero and the range of the ‘p-derivative’ of the nonlinearity includes at least the first j radial eigenvalues of the p-Laplacian operator. The main tools that we use are a uniqueness result for the p-Laplacian operator and bifurcation theory.     

算子概率范数与共鸣定理

提出概率赋范线性空间上集合有界性的简化定义,利用算子概率范数概念。进一步研究概率赋范线性空间上的线性算子理论,并在算子概率赋范空间上,建立了概率有界、概率半有界、非概率无界意义下的共鸣定理。     

几个随机算子定理

得到Banach空间中随机隐函数存在定理、随机反函数定理和随机Hahn-Banach定理，它们是著名隐函数定理、反函数定理和Hahn-Banach控制延拓定理的随机化推广，这些定理在随机算子理论中将起重要作用。     

非混合单调二元算子方程(组)解的存在唯一性

利用锥理论及Banach压缩映射原理,在不要求上、下解条件及算子紧性与连续性的条件下,建立了一类满足更一般序关系条件的非混合单调二元算子方程组(?)解的存在唯一性定理,以及非单调二元算子方程T(x,x)=x和非单调一元算子方程Lx=x解的存在唯一性定理,推广了最近相关文献的研究结果.     

Dirichlet Problem for Degenerate Quasilinear Elliptic Equations Suggested by the Anisotropic Permeation

By Browder's pseudo-monotone operator theory and the techniques belonging to J. Leray and J. Lions, the existence theorem of the generalized solution of the Dirichlet problem for a strongly degenerate quasilincar elliptic equation has been proved in the anisotropic Sobolev space.     

Existence of solutions to nonlinear Hammerstein integral equations and applications

In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of solutions of the operator equation Kfu=u in the real Hilbert space L²(G). Under certain conditions on the linear operator K, we establish the conditions on f which are able to guarantee that the operator equation has at least one solution, a unique solution, and infinitely many solutions, respectively. The monotone operator principle and the critical point theory are employed to discuss this problem, respectively. In argument, quadratic root operator K1/2 and its properties play an important role. As an application, we investigate the existence and multiplicity of solutions to fourth-order boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations with two parameters, and give some new existence results of solutions.     

A pseudospectral mapping theorem

The pseudospectrum has become an important quantity for analyzing stability of nonnormal systems. In this paper, we prove a mapping theorem for pseudospectra, extending an earlier result of Trefethen. Our result consists of two relations that are sharp and contains the spectral mapping theorem as a special case. Necessary and sufficient conditions for these relations to collapse to an equality are demonstrated. The theory is valid for bounded linear operators on Banach spaces. For normal matrices, a special version of the pseudospectral mapping theorem is also shown to be sharp. Some numerical examples illustrate the theory.

     

η-INVARIANT AND CHERN-SIMONS CURRENT

The author presents an alternate proof of the Bismut-Zhang localization formula of ηinvariants, when the target manifold is a sphere, by using ideas of mod k index theory instead of the difficult analytic localization techniques of Bismut-Lebeau. As a consequence, it is shown that the R/Z part of the aualytically defined η invariant of Atiyah-Patodi-Singer for a Dirac operator on an odd dimensional closed spin manifold can be expressed purely geometrically through a stable Chern-Simons current on a higher dimensional sphere. As a preliminary application, the author discusses the relation with the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer R/Z index theorem for unitary flat vector bundles,and proves an R refinement in the case where the Dirac operator is replaced by the Signature operator.     

New proof of the cobordism invariance of the index

We give a simple proof of the cobordism invariance of the index of an elliptic operator. The proof is based on a study of a Witten-type deformation of an extension of the operator to a complete Riemannian manifold. One of the advantages of our approach is that it allows us to treat directly general elliptic operators which are not of Dirac type.

     

A quantum model of a real scalar field

A quantum model of a real scalar field with local operator gauge symmetry is discussed. In the localized theory, in order to keep the local operator gauge symmetry, an operator gauge potential BB _μ, is needed. By combining the constraint of operator gauge potentialB _μ, and the microscopic causality theorem, the usual canonical quantization condition of a real scalar field is obtained. Therefore, a quantum model of a real scalar field without the usual procedure of quantizing a related classical model can be directly constructed. Project supported in part by T.D. On Some Properties of the Quaternionic Functional Calculus

In some recent works we have developed a new functional calculus for bounded and unbounded quaternionic operators acting on a quaternionic Banach space. That functional calculus is based on the theory of slice regular functions and on a Cauchy formula which holds for particular domains where the admissible functions have power series expansions. In this paper, we use a new version of the Cauchy formula with slice regular kernel to extend the validity of the quaternionic functional calculus to functions defined on more general domains. Moreover, we show some of the algebraic properties of the quaternionic functional calculus such as the S-spectral radius theorem and the S-spectral mapping theorem. Our functional calculus is also a natural tool to define the semigroup e ^tA when A is a linear quaternionic operator.
