This Letter presents all possible smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions for the generalized Camassa–Holm equation under the inhomogeneous boundary condition.The parametric conditions of existence of the smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions are given by using the phase portrait analytical technique. Asymptotic analysis and numerical simulations are provided for smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions of the generalized Camassa–Holm equation.  相似文献

The qualitative theory of differential equations is applied to the Fornberg–Whitham equation. Smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions of the Fornberg–Whitham equation under inhomogeneous boundary condition are obtained. The conditions of existence of the smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions are given by using the phase portrait analytical technique. Asymptotic analysis and numerical simulations are provided for smooth, peaked and cusped solitary wave solutions of the Fornberg–Whitham equation. In this paper, the effects of quadratic singular curves in integrable wave equations are studied by using the bifurcation theory of dynamical system. Some new singular solitary waves (pseudo‐cuspons) and periodic waves are found more weak than regular singular traveling waves such as peaked soliton (peakon), cusp soliton (cuspon), cusp periodic wave, etc. We show that while the first‐order derivatives of the new singular solitary wave and periodic waves exist, their second‐order derivatives are discontinuous at finite number of points for the solitary waves or at infinitely countable points for the periodic wave. Moreover, an intrinsic connection is constructed between the singular traveling waves and quadratic singular curves in the phase plane of traveling wave system. The new singular periodic waves, pseudo‐cuspons, and compactons emerge if corresponding periodic orbits or homoclinic orbits are tangent to a hyperbola, ellipse, and parabola. In particular, pseudo‐cuspon is proposed for the first time. Finally, we study the qualitative behavior of the new singular solitary wave and periodic wave solutions through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.  相似文献

Both sextic and septic B‐spline collocation algorithms are presented for the numerical solutions of the RLW equation. Numerical results resolve the fine structure of the single solitary wave propagation, two and three solitary waves interaction, and evolution of solitary waves. Optical solitary waves and their stability in focusing thermal optical media, such as lead glasses, are studied numerically and theoretically in (2 + 1) dimensions. The optical medium is a square cell and mixed boundary conditions of Newton cooling and fixed temperature on different sides of the cell are used. Nonlinear thermal optical media have a refractive index which depends on temperature, so that heating from the optical beam and heat flow across the boundaries can change the refractive index of the medium. Solitary wave solutions are found numerically using the Newton conjugate‐gradient method, while their stability is studied using a linearized stability analysis and also via numerical simulations. It is found that the position of the solitary wave is dependent on the boundary conditions, with the center of the beam moving toward the warmer boundaries, as the parameters are varied. The stability of the solitary waves depends on the symmetry of the boundary conditions and the amplitude of the solitary waves.  相似文献

The differential quadrature method based on cosine expansion is applied to obtain numerical solutions of the RLW equation. The propagation of single solitary wave is studied to validate the efficiency of the algorithm. Then, test problems including interaction of two and three solitary waves, undulation, and evolution of solitary waves are implemented. Solutions are compared with earlier results. We study here the existence of solitary wave solutions of a generalized two-component Camassa–Holm system. In addition to those smooth solitary-wave solutions, we show that there are solitary waves with singularities: peaked and cusped solitary waves. We also demonstrate that all smooth solitary waves are orbitally stable in the energy space. We finally give a sufficient condition for global strong solutions to the equation in some special case.  相似文献

In this research article, the authors investigate the interaction of solitary waves for complex modified Korteweg–de Vries (CMKdV) equations using Chebyshev pseudospectral methods. The proposed method is established in both time and space to approximate the solutions and to prove the stability analysis for the equations. The derivative matrices are defined at Chebyshev–Gauss–Lobbato points and the problem is reduced to a diagonally block system of coupled nonlinear equations. For numerical experiments, the method is tested on a number of different examples to study the behavior of interaction of two and more than two solitary waves, single solitary wave at different amplitude parameters and different polarization angles. Numerical results support the theoretical results. A comprehensive comparison of numerical results with the exact solutions and other numerical methods are presented. The rate of convergence of the proposed method is obtained up to seventh-order.  相似文献

Many models of shallow water waves, such as the famous Camassa–Holm equation, admit peaked solitary waves. However, it is an open question whether or not the widely accepted peaked solitary waves can be derived from the fully nonlinear wave equations. In this paper, a unified wave model (UWM) based on the symmetry and the fully nonlinear wave equations is put forward for progressive waves with permanent form in finite water depth. Different from traditional wave models, the flows described by the UWM are not necessarily irrotational at crest, so that it is more general. The unified wave model admits not only the traditional progressive waves with smooth crest, but also a new kind of solitary waves with peaked crest that include the famous peaked solitary waves given by the Camassa–Holm equation. Besides, it is proved that Kelvin’s theorem still holds everywhere for the newly found peaked solitary waves. Thus, the UWM unifies, for the first time, both of the traditional smooth waves and the peaked solitary waves. In other words, the peaked solitary waves are consistent with the traditional smooth ones. So, in the frame of inviscid fluid, the peaked solitary waves are as acceptable and reasonable as the traditional smooth ones. It is found that the peaked solitary waves have some unusual and unique characteristics. First of all, they have a peaked crest with a discontinuous vertical velocity at crest. Especially, unlike the traditional smooth waves that are dispersive with wave height, the phase speed of the peaked solitary waves has nothing to do with wave height, but depends (for a fixed wave height) on its decay length, i.e., the actual wavelength: in fact, the peaked solitary waves are dispersive with the actual wavelength when wave height is fixed. In addition, unlike traditional smooth waves whose kinetic energy decays exponentially from free surface to bottom, the kinetic energy of the peaked solitary waves either increases or almost keeps the same. All of these unusual properties show the novelty of the peaked solitary waves, although it is still an open question whether or not they are reasonable in physics if the viscosity of fluid and surface tension are considered.  相似文献

A long waves-short waves model is studied by using the approach of dynamical systems. The sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of solitary wave, kink and anti-kink waves, and periodic wave in different regions of the parametric space are given. All possible explicit exact parametric representations of above traveling waves are presented. When the energy of Hamiltonian system corresponding to this model varies, we also show the convergence of the periodic wave solutions, such as the periodic wave solutions converge to the solitary wave solutions, kink and anti-kink wave solutions, and periodic wave solutions, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, traveling waves with different frequencies and velocities can be constructed by three wave method. Some new exact solitary and periodic solitary solutions are obtained for the Fifth-Order Sawada–Kotera equation using three wave type method via Hiröta bilinear form. In this study, traveling wave solutions of the modified regularized long wave (MRLW) equation are simulated by using the meshless method based on collocation with well‐known radial basis functions. The method is tested for three test problems which are single solitary wave motion, interaction of two solitary waves and interaction of three solitary waves. Invariant values for all test problems are calculated, also L2, L norms and values of the absolute error for single solitary wave motion are calculated. Numerical results by using the meshless method with different radial basis functions are presented. Figures of wave motions for all test problems are shown. In this study, a numerical solution of the Regularized Long Wave (RLW) equation is obtained using Galerkin finite element method, based on two and three steps Adams Moulton method for the time integration and quadratic trigonometric B-spline functions for the space integration. After two different linearization techniques are applied, the proposed algorithms are tested on the problems of propagation of a solitary wave and interaction of two solitary waves. For the first test problem, the rate of convergence and the running time of the proposed algorithms are computed and the error norm $L_{\infty }$ is used to measure the differences between exact and numerical solutions. The three conservation quantities of the motion are calculated to determine the conservation properties of the proposed algorithms for both of the test problems.  相似文献
