An Extension of Set-Valued Contraction Principle for Mappings on a Metric Space with a Graph and Application

In this paper, we obtain an existence theorem for fixed points of contractive set-valued mappings on a metric space endowed with a graph. This theorem unifies and extends several fixed point theorems for mappings on metric spaces and for mappings on metric spaces endowed with a graph. As an application, we obtain a theorem on the convergence of successive approximations for some linear operators on an arbitrary Banach space. This result yields the well-known Kelisky–Rivlin theorem on iterates of the Bernstein operators on C[0,1].     

Coincidence and common fixed point results on metric spaces endowed with an arbitrary binary relation and applications

In this paper, we establish coincidence and common fixed point theorems for contractive mappings on a metric space endowed with an amorphous binary relation. The presented theorems extend the results of Samet and Turinici in [Commun. Math. Anal. 12 (2012), 82– 97] and generalize many existing results on metric and ordered metric spaces. We apply also our main results to derive coincidence and common fixed point theorems for cyclic contractive mappings.     

KKM property and fixed point theorems in metric spaces

In this paper, first part, we establish some fixed point theorems for a k-set contraction map on the nearly-subadmissible subsets of a complete metric space. The second part, we deduce a generalization of the approximate fixed point theorem for the lower semicontinuous mappings on a metric space.

Common fixed points of generalized contractions on partial metric spaces and an application

In this paper, common fixed point theorems for four mappings satisfying a generalized nonlinear contraction type condition on partial metric spaces are proved. Presented theorems extend the very recent results of I. Altun, F. Sola and H. Simsek [Generalized contractions on partial metric spaces, Topology and its applications 157 (18) (2010) 2778-2785]. As application, some homotopy results for operators on a set endowed with a partial metric are given.     

Generalized contractions on partial metric spaces

In the present paper, we give some fixed point theorems for generalized contractive type mappings on partial metric space. Also, a homotopy result is given.     

Existence and convergence theorems for generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces

In this paper, we show a relationship between strictly convexity of type (I) and (II) defined by Takahashi and Talman, and we prove that any uniformly convex metric space is strictly convex of type (II). Continuity of the convex structure is also shown on a compact domain. Then, we prove the existence of a minimum point of a convex, lower semicontinuous and d-coercive function defined on a nonempty closed convex subset of a complete uniformly convex metric space. By using this property, we prove fixed point theorems for (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces. Using this result, we also obtain a common fixed point theorem for a countable commutative family of (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces. Finally, we establish strong convergence of a Mann type iteration to a fixed point of (α, β)-generalized hybrid mapping in a uniformly convex metric space without assuming continuity of convex structure. Our results can be applied to obtain the existence and convergence theorems for (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in Hilbert spaces, uniformly convex Banach spaces and CAT(0) spaces.     

Cone metric spaces and fixed point theorems in diametrically contractive mappings

In this paper, some topological concepts and definitions are generalized to cone metric spaces. It is proved that every cone metric space is first countable topological space and that sequentially compact subsets axe compact. Also, we define diametrically contractive mappings and asymptotically diametrically contractive mappings on cone metric spaces to obtain some fixed point theorems by assuming that our cone is strongly minihedral.     

Generic Existence of Fixed Points for Set-Valued Mappings

We first consider a complete metric space of nonexpansive set-valued mappings acting on a closed convex subset of a Banach space with a nonempty interior, and show that a generic mapping in this space has a fixed point. We then establish analogous results for two complete metric spaces of set-valued mappings with convex graphs.     

Fixed Point Theorems of the Iterated Function Systems

In this paper, we present some fixed point theorems of iterated function systems consisting of α-ψ-contractive type mappings in Fractal space constituted by the compact subset of metric space and iterated function systems consisting of Banach contractive mappings in Fractal space constituted by the compact subset of generalized metric space, which is also extensively applied in topological dynamic system.     

Controlled fuzzy metric spaces and some related fixed point results

In this paper, we introduce a new extension in the subject of fuzzy metric, called controlled fuzzy metric space. This notion is a generalization of fuzzy b‐metric space. Also, we prove a Banach‐type fixed point theorem and a new fixed point theorem for some self‐mappings satisfying fuzzy ψ ‐contraction condition that is more general than existing theorems. Furthermore, we establish some examples about our main results.

Common coupled fixed point theorems in cone metric spaces for w-compatible mappings

In this paper we introduce the concept of a w-compatible mappings to obtain coupled coincidence point and coupled point of coincidence for nonlinear contractive mappings in cone metric space with a cone having non-empty interior. Coupled common fixed point theorems for such mappings are also proved. Our results generalize, extend and unify several well known comparable results in the literature. Results are supported by three examples.     

A study of a general system of operator equations in $${\varvec{}}$$-metric spaces via the vector approach in fixed point theory

In this paper, we will present some coupled fixed point theorems on a metric space endowed with two b-metrics. The approach is based on the application of a fixed point theorem for an appropriate operator on the Cartesian product of the given spaces. An application to a boundary value problem for a system of second order differential equations is also presented.     

Minimum of a functional in a metric space and fixed points

The existence of minimizers is examined for a function defined on a metric space. Theorems are proved that assert the existence of minimizers, and examples of the functions for which these theorems are valid are given. Then, these theorems are applied to proving theorems on fixed points of univalent and multivalued mappings of metric spaces. Finally, coincident points of two mappings are examined.     

Bead spaces and fixed point theorems

The notion of a bead metric space defined here (see Definition 6) is a nice generalization of that of the uniformly convex normed space. In turn, the idea of a central point for a mapping when combined with the “single central point” property of the bead spaces enables us to obtain strong and elegant extensions of the Browder-Göhde-Kirk fixed point theorem for nonexpansive mappings (see Theorems 14-17). Their proofs are based on a very simple reasoning. We also prove two theorems on continuous selections for metric and Hilbert spaces. They are followed by fixed point theorems of Schauder type. In the final part we obtain a result on nonempty intersection.     

The best approximation theorems and variational inequalities for discontinuous mappings in Banach spaces

We discuss Ky Fan's theorem and the variational inequality problem for discontinuous mappings f in a Banach space X. The main tools of analysis are the variational characterizations of the metric projection operator and the order-theoretic fixed point theory. Moreover, we derive some properties of the metric projection operator in Banach spaces. As applications of our best approximation theorems, three fixed point theorems for non-self maps are established and proved under some conditions. Our results are generalizations and improvements of various recent results obtained by many authors.
