We give some generalizations of the Banach Contraction Principle to mappings on a metric space endowed with a graph. This extends and subsumes many recent results of other authors which were obtained for mappings on a partially ordered metric space. As an application, we present a theorem on the convergence of successive approximations for some linear operators on a Banach space. In particular, the last result easily yields the Kelisky-Rivlin theorem on iterates of the Bernstein operators on the space .

In this paper, we consider self-mappings defined on a metric space endowed with a finite number of graphs. Under certain conditions imposed on the graphs, we establish a new fixed point theorem for such mappings. The obtained result extends, generalizes and improves many existing contributions in the literature including standard fixed point theorems, fixed point theorems on a metric space endowed with a partial order and fixed point theorems for cyclic mappings.  相似文献

First, we consider a strongly continuous semigroup of nonexpansive mappings defined on a closed convex subset of a complete CAT(0) space and prove a convergence of a Mann iteration to a common fixed point of the mappings. This result is motivated by a result of Kirk (2002) and of Suzuki (2002). Second, we obtain a result on limits of subsequences of Mann iterations of multivalued nonexpansive mappings on metric spaces of hyperbolic type, which leads to a convergence theorem for nonexpansive mappings on these spaces.  相似文献

Let X be a complete metric space, a set of continuous mappings from X into itself, endowed with a metric topology finer than the compact-open topology. Assuming that there exists a dense subset contained in such that for every mapping T in the set {x ε X: Tx = x} is nonempty, it is proved that most mappings (in the Baire category sense) in do have a nonempty compact set of fixed points. Some applications to α-nonexpansive operators, semiaccretive operators and differential equations in Banach spaces are derived.  相似文献

In this paper we extend Mizoguchi–Takahashi's fixed point theorem for multi-valued mappings on a metric space endowed with a graph. As an application, we establish a fixed point theorem on an ε  -chainable metric space for mappings satisfying Mizoguchi–Takahashi contractive condition uniformly locally. Also, we establish a result on the convergence of successive approximations for certain operators (not necessarily linear) on a Banach space as another application. Consequently, this result yields the Kelisky–Rivlin theorem on iterates of the Bernstein operators on the space C[0,1]C[0,1] and also enables us study the asymptotic behaviour of iterates of some nonlinear Bernstein type operators on C[0,1]C[0,1].  相似文献

In this paper, we show a relationship between strictly convexity of type (I) and (II) defined by Takahashi and Talman, and we prove that any uniformly convex metric space is strictly convex of type (II). Continuity of the convex structure is also shown on a compact domain. Then, we prove the existence of a minimum point of a convex, lower semicontinuous and d-coercive function defined on a nonempty closed convex subset of a complete uniformly convex metric space. By using this property, we prove fixed point theorems for (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces. Using this result, we also obtain a common fixed point theorem for a countable commutative family of (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces. Finally, we establish strong convergence of a Mann type iteration to a fixed point of (α, β)-generalized hybrid mapping in a uniformly convex metric space without assuming continuity of convex structure. Our results can be applied to obtain the existence and convergence theorems for (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in Hilbert spaces, uniformly convex Banach spaces and CAT(0) spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish coincidence and common fixed point theorems for contractive mappings on a metric space endowed with an amorphous binary relation. The presented theorems extend the results of Samet and Turinici in [Commun. Math. Anal. 12 (2012), 82– 97] and generalize many existing results on metric and ordered metric spaces. We apply also our main results to derive coincidence and common fixed point theorems for cyclic contractive mappings.  相似文献

The notion of a bead metric space defined here (see Definition 6) is a nice generalization of that of the uniformly convex normed space. In turn, the idea of a central point for a mapping when combined with the “single central point” property of the bead spaces enables us to obtain strong and elegant extensions of the Browder-Göhde-Kirk fixed point theorem for nonexpansive mappings (see Theorems 14-17). Their proofs are based on a very simple reasoning. We also prove two theorems on continuous selections for metric and Hilbert spaces. They are followed by fixed point theorems of Schauder type. In the final part we obtain a result on nonempty intersection.  相似文献

We develop the Hutchinson-Barnsley theory for finite families of mappings on a metric space endowed with a directed graph. In particular, our results subsume a classical theorem of J.E. Hutchinson [J.E. Hutchinson, Fractals and self-similarity, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 30 (1981) 713-747] on the existence of an invariant set for an iterated function system of Banach contractions, and a theorem of L. Máté [L. Máté, The Hutchinson-Barnsley theory for certain non-contraction mappings, Period. Math. Hungar. 27 (1993) 21-33] concerning finite families of locally uniformly contractions introduced by Edelstein. Also, they generalize recent fixed point theorems of A.C.M. Ran and M.C.B. Reurings [A.C.M. Ran, M.C.B. Reurings, A fixed point theorem in partially ordered sets and some applications to matrix equations, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 132 (2004) 1435-1443], J.J. Nieto and R. Rodríguez-López [J.J. Nieto, R. Rodríguez-López, Contractive mapping theorems in partially ordered sets and applications to ordinary differential equations, Order 22 (2005) 223-239; J.J. Nieto, R. Scalarization method is an important tool in the study of vector optimization as corresponding solutions of vector optimization problems can be found by solving scalar optimization problems. Recently this has been applied by Du (2010) [14] to investigate the equivalence of vectorial versions of fixed point theorems of contractive mappings in generalized cone metric spaces and scalar versions of fixed point theorems in general metric spaces in usual sense. In this paper, we find out that the topology induced by topological vector space valued cone metric coincides with the topology induced by the metric obtained via a nonlinear scalarization function, i.e any topological vector space valued cone metric space is metrizable, prove a completion theorem, and also obtain some more results in topological vector space valued cone normed spaces.  相似文献

An extension to topological spaces of a wellknown fixed point theorem of M. Edelstein for contractive mappings on metric spaces is presented. Results based on the generalized Edelstein's theorem are also established concerning the existence of fixed points of continuous selfmaps on a topological space. As a special case a compact starshaped subset of a linear topological space is considered. In this paper, common fixed point theorems for four mappings satisfying a generalized nonlinear contraction type condition on partial metric spaces are proved. Presented theorems extend the very recent results of I. Altun, F. Sola and H. Simsek [Generalized contractions on partial metric spaces, Topology and its applications 157 (18) (2010) 2778-2785]. In this paper, we obtain an existence theorem for single-valued monotone operators in a reflexive Banach space. Using this result, we prove a fixed point theorem for nonexpansive mappings in a Hilbert space and an existence theorem for maximal monotone operators in a Banach space. In this paper we introduce a weak contractive condition, called weakly φ-pair, for two mappings in the framework of cone metric spaces and we prove a theorem which ensures existence and uniqueness of common fixed points for such mappings. Also we obtain a result on points of coincidence. These results extend and generalize well-known comparable results in the literature. In this paper, we will present some coupled fixed point theorems on a metric space endowed with two b-metrics. The approach is based on the application of a fixed point theorem for an appropriate operator on the Cartesian product of the given spaces. In this paper, we introduce a new extension in the subject of fuzzy metric, called controlled fuzzy metric space. This notion is a generalization of fuzzy b‐metric space. Also, we prove a Banach‐type fixed point theorem and a new fixed point theorem for some self‐mappings satisfying fuzzy ψ ‐contraction condition that is more general than existing theorems.
