Geometric Algebra in Linear Algebra and Geometry

This article explores the use of geometric algebra in linear and multilinear algebra, and in affine, projective and conformal geometries. Our principal objective is to show how the rich algebraic tools of geometric algebra are fully compatible with and augment the more traditional tools of matrix algebra. The novel concept of an h-twistor makes possible a simple new proof of the striking relationship between conformal transformations in a pseudo-Euclidean space to isometries in a pseudo-Euclidean space of two higher dimensions. The utility of the h-twistor concept, which is a generalization of the idea of a Penrose twistor to a pseudo-Euclidean space of arbitrary signature, is amply demonstrated in a new treatment of the Schwarzian derivative.     

Projections in a Synaptic Algebra

A synaptic algebra is an abstract version of the partially ordered Jordan algebra of all bounded Hermitian operators on a Hilbert space. We review the basic features of a synaptic algebra and then focus on the interaction between a synaptic algebra and its orthomodular lattice of projections. Each element in a synaptic algebra determines and is determined by a one-parameter family of projections—its spectral resolution. We observe that a synaptic algebra is commutative if and only if its projection lattice is boolean, and we prove that any commutative synaptic algebra is isomorphic to a subalgebra of the Banach algebra of all continuous functions on the Stone space of its boolean algebra of projections. We study the so-called range-closed elements of a synaptic algebra, prove that (von Neumann) regular elements are range-closed, relate certain range-closed elements to modular pairs of projections, show that the projections in a synaptic algebra form an M-symmetric orthomodular lattice, and give several sufficient conditions for modularity of the projection lattice.     

A Quantized Tits-Kantor-Koecher Algebra

We propose a quantum analogue of a Tits-Kantor-Koecher algebra with a Jordan torus as an coordinated algebra by looking at the vertex operator construction over a Fock space.

The Hopf Algebra of Fliess Operators and Its Dual Pre-lie Algebra

We study the Hopf algebra H of Fliess operators coming from Control Theory in the one-dimensional case. We prove that it admits a graded, finite-dimensional, connected grading. Dually, the vector space ? ? x ₀, x ₁ ? is both a pre-Lie algebra for the pre-Lie product dual of the coproduct of H, and an associative, commutative algebra for the shuffle product. These two structures admit a compatibility which makes ? ? x ₀, x ₁ ? a Com-Pre-Lie algebra. We give a presentation of this object as a pre-Lie algebra.

Eine Charakterisierung der Boole'schen Algebra zu einer co -direkten Zerlegung

In this paper nuclear Boolean Algebras of projections in a locally convex space are considered. This are Boolean Algebras with special continuity properties, which are shared, for instance, by each bounded Boolean Algebra of projections in an ?^∞-space and by the algebra of each equicontinuos spectral measure in a nuclear space. It will be shown that a ?-complete nuclear Boolean Algebra leads to a c_o-direct sum of locally convex spaces and all the projections of the algebra belong to the complete algebra of projections of this c_o-direct partition. On the other hand if in a given locally convex space E there exists a nuclear complete Boolean Algebra of projections which has multiplicity one then each equicontinuos Boolean Algebra of projections in E is nuclear.
