Perturbation bounds for weighted polar decomposition in the weighted unitarily invariant norm

In this paper, by generalizing the ideas of the (generalized) polar decomposition to the weighted polar decomposition and the unitarily invariant norm to the weighted unitarily invariant norm, we present some perturbation bounds for the generalized positive polar factor, generalized nonnegative polar factor, and weighted unitary polar factor of the weighted polar decomposition in the weighted unitarily invariant norm. These bounds extend the corresponding recent results for the (generalized) polar decomposition. In addition, we also give the comparison between the two perturbation bounds for the generalized positive polar factor obtained from two different methods. In this paper, a new matrix decomposition called the weighted polar decomposition is considered. Two uniqueness theorems of weighted polar decomposition are presented, and the best approximation property of weighted unitary polar factor and perturbation bounds for weighted polar decomposition are also studied.

Some remarks on the perturbation of polar decompositions for rectangular matrices

In this article we focus on perturbation bounds of unitary polar factors in polar decompositions for rectangular matrices. First we present two absolute perturbation bounds in unitarily invariant norms and in spectral norm, respectively, for any rectangular complex matrices, which improve recent results of Li and Sun (SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 2003; 25 :362–372). Secondly, a new absolute bound for complex matrices of full rank is given. When ‖A ? Ã‖₂ ? ‖A ? Ã‖_F, our bound for complex matrices is the same as in real case. Finally, some asymptotic bounds given by Mathias (SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Some New Perturbation Bounds for Subunitary Polar Factors

In this paper, we present some new perturbation bounds for subunitary polar factors in a special unitarily invariant norm called a Q-norm. Some recent results in the Frobenius norm and the spectral norm are extended to the Q-norm on one hand. On the other hand we also present some relative perturbation bounds for subunitary polar factors.     

Combined perturbation bounds: Ⅱ. Polar decompositions

In this paper, we study the perturbation bounds for the polar decomposition A= QH where Q is unitary and H is Hermitian. The optimal (asymptotic) bounds obtained in previous works for the unitary factor, the Hermitian factor and singular values of A are σ2r||△Q||2F ≤ ||△A||2F,1/2||△H||2F ≤ ||△A||2F and ||△∑||2F ≤ ||△A||2F, respectively, where ∑ = diag(σ1, σ2,..., σr, 0,..., 0) is the singular value matrix of A and σr denotes the smallest nonzero singular value. Here we present some new combined (asymptotic)perturbation bounds σ2r ||△Q||2F+1/2||△H||2F≤ ||△A||2F and σ2r||△Q||2F+||△∑ ||2F ≤||△A||2F which are optimal for each factor. Some corresponding absolute perturbation bounds are also given.

Perturbation analysis for best approximation and the polar factor by subunitary matrices

This paper is a continuation and improvement over the results of Laszkiewicz and Zietak [BIT, 2006, 46: 345–366], studying perturbation analysis for polar decomposition. Some basic properties of best approximation subunitary matrices are investigated in detail. The perturbation bounds of the polar factor are also derived.      

Some New Perturbation Bounds for the Generalized Polar Decomposition

The changes in the unitary polar factor under both multiplicative and additive perturbation are studied. A multiplicative perturbation bound and a new additive perturbation bound, in which a different measure of perturbation is introduced, are presented.     

On Small and Large Hyperplanes of DW(5, q)

We determine lower and upper bounds for the size of a hyperplane of the dual polar space DW(5, q). In some cases, we also determine all hyperplanes attaining these bounds.

奇异积分算子q-变差的定量最优加权估计

本文将定量最优A_p权理论推广到联系于ω-Calderón-Zygmund算子的q-变差情形.这些结果利用了Lerner最新给出的稀疏控制方法来控制q-变差,和Hyt?nen等关于q-变差的最优加权成果相比,本文涉及的ω仅需满足Dini条件,并且其截断是非光滑的.     

Error estimation for a weighted minimum-norm least squares solution with positive definite weights

The weighted least squares problem is considered. Given a generally inconsistent system of linear algebraic equations, error estimates are obtained for its weighted minimum-norm least squares solution under perturbations of the matrix and the right-hand side, including the case of rank modifications of the perturbed matrix.     

Perturbation of the Weighted T-Core-EP Inverse of Tensors Based on the T-Product

In this paper,we extend the notion of the T-Schur decomposition to the weighted T-core-EP decomposition.Next,the weighted T-core-EP inverse of rectangular tensors is defined by a system,and its existence and uniqueness are obtained.Furthermore,the perturbation of the weighted T-core-EP inverse is studied under several conditions,and the relevant examples are provided to verify the perturbation bounds of the weighted T-core-EP inverse of tensors.     

An alternative to the Kelvin decomposition for plane anisotropic elasticity

In this paper, we propose an alternative tensorial decomposition to the Kelvin's one (introduced by Kelvin in 1856) for plane anisotropic elasticity using the polar formalism (introduced by Verchery in 1979). In the first part of the paper, a parallel between the two approaches is proposed. Thanks to it, some new results are found; namely, the projectors introduced have a direct interpretation in terms of material symmetry and are intrinsic for any type of symmetry considered, that is, they do not depend on any elastic modulus for any type of symmetry, unlike in the Kelvin decomposition. The introduction of what we call, in the paper, the polar projectors, stresses and strains gives a new insight into the polar formalism. The results proposed in this paper will hopefully be useful in some cases, for example, in the modeling of anisotropic damage evolution in solids. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Approximate decoupling of multivariate polynomials using weighted tensor decomposition

Many scientific and engineering disciplines use multivariate polynomials. Decomposing a multivariate polynomial vector function into a sandwiched structure of univariate polynomials surrounded by linear transformations can provide useful insight into the function while reducing the number of parameters. Such a decoupled representation can be realized with techniques based on tensor decomposition methods, but these techniques have only been studied in the exact case. Generalizing the existing techniques to the noisy case is an important next step for the decoupling problem. For this extension, we have considered a weight factor during the tensor decomposition process, leading to an alternating weighted least squares scheme. In addition, we applied the proposed weighted decoupling algorithm in the area of system identification, and we observed smaller model errors with the weighted decoupling algorithm than those with the unweighted decoupling algorithm.
