Let G = (V, E) be a primitive digraph. The vertex exponent of G at a vertex v ∈ V, denoted by expG(v), is the least integer p such that there is a v → u walk of length p for each u ∈ V. We choose to order the vertices of G in the k-point exponent of G and is denoted by expG(k), 1 ≤ k ≤ n. We define the k-point exponent set E(n, k) := {expG(k)| G = G(A) with A ∈ CSP(n)}, where CSP(n) is the set of all n × n central symmetric primitive matrices and G(A) is the associated graph of the matrix A. In this paper, we describe E(n,k) for all n, k with 1 ≤ k ≤ n except n ≡ 1(mod 2) and 1 ≤ k ≤ n - 4. We also characterize the extremal graphs when k = 1.     

GENERALIZED EXPONENTS OF PRIMITIVE SIMPLE GRAPHS

The exponent of a primitive digraph has been generalized in [2].In this paper we obtain new parameters on generalized exponent of primitive simple graphs (symmetric primitive (0,1)matrices with zero trace) completely.     

The primitive matrices of sandwich semigroups of generalized circulant Boolean matrices

Let Gn（C） be the sandwich semigroup of generalized circulant Boolean matrices with the sandwich matrix C and Gc（Jr~） the set of all primitive matrices in Gn（C）. In this paper, some necessary and sufficient conditions for A in the semigroup Gn（C） to be primitive are given. We also show that Gc（Jn） is a subsemigroup of Gn（C）.     

对称矩阵的β-性质及其Scaling稳定性分析

In this paper, a concept of the β-property of symmetric matrices is presented which is useful in the perturbation theory for matrices. A necessary and sufficient condition for a symmetric matrix to have the β-property, and the constant β,when it exists, are given. Further, the scaling stability of the symmetric matrix which has the β-property is investigated.

Let P ∈ Rn×n be a symmetric orthogonal matrix. A∈Rn×n is called a symmetric orthogonal symmetric matrix if AT = A and (PA) T = PA. The set of all n × n symmetric orthogonal symmetric matrices is denoted by SRnxnp. This paper discusses the following problems: Problem I. Given X,B∈ Rn×m, find A ∈SRn×np such that||AX - B|| = min Problem II. Given A∈ Rn×n, find A∈SL such thatwhere ||·|| is the Frobenius norm, and SL is the solution set of Problem I.The general form of SL is given. The solvability conditions for the inverseproblem AX = B in SRn×nP are obtained. The expression of the solution toProblem II is presented.     

THE SINE TRANSFORM OPERATOR IN THE BANACH SPACE OF SYMMETRIC MATRICES AND ITS APPLICATION IN IMAGE RESTORATION

In this paper, we study an operator s which maps every n-by-n symmetric matrix A, to a matrix s(A_n) that minimizes || B_n-A_n || F over the set of all matrices B_n, that can be diagonalized by the sine transform. The matrix s(A_n), called the optimal sine transform preconditioner, is defined for any n-by-n symmetric matrices A_n. The cost of constructing s(A_n) is the same as that of optimal circulant preconditioner c(A_n) which is defined in [8], The s(A_n) has been proved in [6] to be a good preconditioner in solving symmetric Toeplitz systems with the preconditioned conjugate gradient (PCG) method. In this paper, we discuss the algebraic and geometric properties of the operator s, and compute its operator norms in Banach spaces of symmetric matrices. Some numerical tests and an application in image restoration are also given.     

STABLE DOUBLE LR ALGORITHM AND ITS ERROR ANALYSIS

In this paper, the normative matrices and their double LR transformation with origin shifts are defined, and the essential relationship between the double LR transformation of a normative matrix and the QR transformation of the related symmetric tridiagonal matrix is proved. We obtain a stable double LR algorithm for double LR transformation of normative matrices and give the error analysis of our algorithm. The operation number of the stable double LR algorithm for normative matrices is only four sevenths of the rational QR algorithm for reed symmetric tridiagonal matrices.

A locally semicomplete digraph is a digraph D=(V,A) satisfying the following condi-tion for every vertex x∈V the D[O(x)] and D[I(x)] are semicomplete digraphs. In this paper,we get some properties of cycles and determine the exponent set of primitive locally semicompleted digraphs.

QR factorization for row or column symmetric matrix

The problem of fast computing the QR factorization of row or column symmetric matrix is considered. We address two new algorithms based on a correspondence of Q and R matrices between the row or column symmetric matrix and its mother matrix. Theoretical analysis and numerical evidence show that, for a class of row or column symmetric matrices, the QR factorization using the mother matrix rather than the row or column symmetric matrix per se can save dramatically the CPU time and memory without loss of any numerical precision.

Elementary Pairs of Primitive Normal Theories

The main objective of the paper is proving that classes of primitive normal, primitive bound, antiadditive, and additive theories are closed under P-expansions. This phenomenon is quite remarkable, for the main structure classes of theories studied within model theory (such as stable, totally transcendental, etc.) do not possess such a property. Furthermore, it is proved that primitive bound theories are P-stable, and we furnish an example of a primitive bound theory with models that are not primitive bound.
