We present a simple analytical expression for the full relaxation rate of the excited state of the two-level resonant emitter placed close to a metal nanoparticle with localized plasmon resonance excited by the emitter. We take into account the interaction of the emitter with all multipole polarization modes and the radiation absorption in the nanoparticle. Analytical and numerical estimations of the full relaxation rate are in good agreement. Thus, only two modes are sufficient for describing the electromagnetic interaction of the dipole emitter and the metal nanoparticle, namely, the dipole mode and the mode related to the emitter image under the nanoparticle surface. Such “two-mode” approximation can simplify the analysis of optical properties of nanoplasmonic structures. In particular, the proposed expression for the full relaxation rate is helpful in the modeling of plasmonic nanolasers.  相似文献

线宽增强因子是影响半导体激光器输出特性的一个重要参量,不同材料不同结构类型的半导体激光器的线宽增强因子有较大的差异.利用光注入半导体激光器的单模速率方程模型,数值研究了线宽增强因子对外光注入半导体激光器的非线性单周期振荡特性的影响.结果表明:外光注入半导体激光器的动态特性对线宽增强因子的变化极为敏感,随着线宽增强因子的增加,在负失谐注入范围内单周期振荡区域显著增大,同时注入锁定的稳态输出被大大抑制.分析了线宽增强因子对非线性单周期振荡光谱特性和振荡频率的影响,结果表明:随着半导体激光器线宽增强因子的增大,单周期振荡的频率越大|当线宽增强因子不变时,单周期振荡的频率随注入光强度和频率失谐的增加而增加.  相似文献

A theory of a detuned single mode laser near threshold is given using the Fokker-Planck equation technique. The Fokker-Planck equation is solved by an eigenfunction expansion. The eigenfunctions and the corresponding eigenvalues are determined by a nonhermitian operator and are calculated numerically in the threshold region. The dependence of the linewidth from the detuning is shown. In the intensity distribution the detuning enters only via a change of the scaling parameter. For the linewidth, however, an additional broadening is found. Finally it is shown that in certain cases the correlation function must not be approximated by a single exponential term.  相似文献

We study the modification of the decay rates of a single dipolar emitter positioned in the vicinity of metallic linear nanoantennas when higher-order plasmonic excitations are induced. We show that it is possible to effectively tune the enhancement or suppression of both the radiative and nonradiative decay processes by controlling the position and orientation of the dipole with respect to the antenna. Transverse polarization of a single emitter, with respect to the antenna axis, located at the center of the antenna activates dark antenna modes that modify dramatically both the intensity and the spectral features of the decay rates.  相似文献

The liquid drop model is applied to describe some basic properties of atoms, homoatomic molecules, metallic clusters of atoms and fullerene molecules. Equilibrium atomic size, energy and polarizability of the atom are calculated. Collective modes of oscillations (dipole, quadrupole and monopole, or breathing, ones) are regarded. Electromagnetic radiation by an atom, passing through a barrier is studied. Equilibrium volume of a homoatomic molecule of two atoms, axes ratio, dissociation energy and the frequencies of the dipole oscillations are calculated. Models to describe some properties of clusters and fullerene molecules are proposed. The size of the metallic cluster, its energy and the frequency of dipole oscillations are calculated. The frequencies of the dipole and breathing mode oscillations of the fullerene molecules are obtained. The calculated frequency of the dipole oscillations was found to be in a rather good accord with the experimental one.  相似文献

Lasing at resonantly coupled whispering-gallery mode frequencies is observed in photonic molecules consisting of bispheres of 4.2 and 5.1 microm in diameter placed in a silicon V-groove. We examine spatial profiles of photonic molecule modes by use of frequency-resolved imaging and reveal bonding and antibonding mode features. From the lasing threshold characteristics, we quantitatively measure the quality factor and the spontaneous-emission coupling ratio of the photonic molecule modes and confirm that strong coherent coupling leads to photonic molecule modes.  相似文献

We generalize the semiclassical model of the dipole nanolaser (DNL) based on the Heisenberg?CLangevin approach, taking into account spontaneous emission of plasmons into the generation mode, nonlinearity of generation, and noises. We find a ??thresholdless?? smooth transition from the spontaneous emission to the stimulated emission and the threshold conditions for such a transition and determine the spectrum of generation and its linewidth. We show that, in spite of the very low quality of the DNL generation mode, the linewidth of a DNL with many M ?? 104 ? 105 emitters decreases, with the pump increase, to quite small values ~ 10?2 of the width 2??2 of the lasing transition at modest pump rates, about 30 times larger that the decay rate of the emitter upper lasing state. This fact confirms the practical possibilities of realizing DNLs with narrow-line stimulated emission. Otherwise, the linewidth of DNLs with small M ?? 1 number of emitters is larger than 2??2 and increases with the pump rate. In addition our results on DNLs can be applied to other lasers, such as nanolasers, microlasers, and LEDs for lighting, also with a low-quality cavity and strong spontaneous emission into the generation mode.  相似文献

The coupling, propagations, and far-field emissions of surface plasmons in a pair of Au nanowires with a dipole emitter have been investigated using the finite-difference time domain method. The surface plasmon wavelength is tunable from 650 to 380 nm by adjusting the distance between the two wires, which leads to an enhancement of coupling constant and density of states of the surface plasmon. The converted energy from the dipole emitter to the propagating surface plasmon as well as the far-field emission intensity of a pair of Au nanowires increase to approximately four times as large as those of a single nanowire.  相似文献

Methods of superradiance theory are employed for determining the relaxation rate of the excited state of a resonant emitter (atom, molecule, or quantum dot) near a metal nanoparticle under resonant excitation of plasmons in it, viz., modes of spatially uniform (dipole) harmonic oscillations of the electron density. Detuning from resonance and nonradiative loss suppressing radiation from the emitter near the nanoparticle surface are taken into account. The results are used to estimate the threshold conditions for generating a plasmon (“dipole”) nanolaser. It is shown that the threshold conditions of induced (laser) generation of plasmons for the emitter at a distance of 5–40 nm from an ellipsoidal nanoparticle are satisfied for relatively low emitter pumping rates (on the order of the rate of spontaneous emission of the emitter into the free space).  相似文献

Single gold nanoshell with mutilpolar plasmon resonances is proposed to enhance two-photon fluorescence efficiently.The single emitter single nanoshell configuration is studied systematically by employing the finite-difference time-domain method.The emitter located inside or outside the nanoshell at various positions leads to a significantly different enhancement effect.The fluorescent emitter placed outside the nanoshell can achieve large fluorescence intensity given that both the position and orientation of the emission dipole are optimally controlled.In contrast,for the case of the emitter placed inside the nanoshell,it can experience substantial two-photon fluorescence enhancement without strict requirements upon the position and dipole orientations.Metallic nanoshell encapsulating many fluorescent emitters should be a promising nanocomposite configuration for bright two-photon fluorescence label.The results provide a comprehensive understanding about the plasmonic-enhanced two-photon fluorescence behaviors,and the nanocomposite configuration has great potential for optical detecting,imaging and sensing in biological applications.  相似文献

We experimentally and theoretically demonstrate 40 Gb/s all-optical logic NOR and OR gates based on a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and a blue shifted optical bandpass filter (OBF). Two kinds of data formats are discussed, namely return-to-zero (RZ) format and nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) format. The logic NOR and OR functions of RZ format are realized at the OBF detuning of −0.22 nm and −0.44 nm, respectively. The logic NOR function of NRZ format is realized at the OBF detuning of −0.24 nm. The simulation is in good agreement with the experimental results when the linewidth enhancement factor is 5.5. The simulation also shows that the SOA with large linewidth enhancement factor is preferred to achieve NOR and OR functions with good performance. The input data signal is of good pulsewidth-tolerance for NOR function, whereas not for OR function. The high Q factor could be obtained at narrow pulses injection.  相似文献

The longitudinal linewidth and corresponding relative intensity noise (RIN) of 10- and 40-GHz mode-locked laser diodes are measured for the first time to our knowledge. It is shown that the cavity Q value is a dominant parameter of the linewidth. It is also shown that the linewidth of the individual modes is almost constant. This means that the phase noise of each mode is almost the same in the mode-locked condition. The RIN value is larger for modes that are distant from the center longitudinal mode. This mode dependence is a consequence of the mode partition noise.  相似文献

Big brown bats were trained in a two-choice task to locate a two-cylinder dipole object with a constant 5 cm spacing in the presence of either a one-cylinder monopole or another two-cylinder dipole with a shorter spacing. For the dipole versus monopole task, the objects were either stationary or in motion during each trial. The dipole and monopole objects varied from trial to trial in the left-right position while also roving in range (10-40 cm), cross range separation (15-40 cm), and dipole aspect angle (0 degrees -90 degrees ). These manipulations prevented any single feature of the acoustic stimuli from being a stable indicator of which object was the correct choice. After accounting for effects of masking between echoes from pairs of cylinders at similar distances, the bats discriminated the 5 cm dipole from both the monopole and dipole alternatives with performance independent of aspect angle, implying a distal, spatial object representation rather than a proximal, acoustic object representation.  相似文献

A method for calculating the spontaneous-emission probability for arbitrary layered structures in the waveguide mode has been developed based on the scattering matrix formalism. The results of calculating the mode Purcell factor for the TE and TM modes of a planar waveguide are shown. Analytical estimates for the mode Purcell factor are obtained, and the conditions for achieving maximum amplification of spontaneous emission in a waveguide are determined.  相似文献

This paper illustrates the design and simulation of a unique 500 MHz single-cell superconducting radio frequency cavity with a fluted beam pipe and a coaxial-type fundamental power coupler. The simulation results show that the cavity has a high r/Q value, a low peak surface field and a large beam aperture, so it can be a candidate cavity for high current accelerators. With the help of a fluted beam tube, almost all the higher order modes can propagate out of the cavity, especially the first two dipole modes, TE111 and TM110, and the first higher monopole mode, TM011. The external quality factor of the coaxial fundamental power coupler is optimized to 1.2×105, which will be useful when it is applied in the light source storage ring.  相似文献

It is shown that the intensity of acoustic radiation from a vibrating drop depends mainly on the monopole and dipole components appearing only in the second order of smallness in vibration amplitude. The intensity of the quadrupole acoustic radiation generated by the vibration fundamental mode in the first order of smallness in amplitude turns out to be much weaker. This is associated with the fact that, if the acoustic wavelength is much larger than the drop characteristic size, their ratio becomes a governing small parameter, being lesser than the ratio of the drop vibration amplitude to the drop linear size. Analytical estimates of the amplitudes of monopole, dipole, and quadrupole components of the velocity field associated with the acoustic field of the drop.  相似文献

The relaxation dynamics of a quantum dipole emitter coupled to a metal nanostructure in the presence of an external resonant pump field is studied. It was found that in the mode of weak pumping, the phase of the response from a metallic nanostructure plays a key role in the dynamics of the quantum dipole emitter and allows one to control the fluorescence process. It is shown that when the phase shift is set close to π/2, the quantum emitter makes a quick transition into the ground state, then slowly passes into a superposition state with a small probability to remain in an excited state. Meanwhile, in the case of phase shift values close to 3π/2, the system relaxes into a stationary superposition state where the probability to be in the excited state is close to unity. It was established that the dynamics of the system also depends on the intensity of the external field and with the amplification of the latter, the system enters into the mode of the asymmetric Rabi oscillations.  相似文献

We report on the controlled coupling of a single nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center to a surface plasmon mode propagating along a chemically grown silver nanowire (NW). We locate and optically characterize a single NV center in a uniform dielectric environment before we controllably position this emitter in the close proximity of the NW. We are thus able to control the coupling of this particular emitter to the NW and directly compare the photon emission properties before and after the coupling. The excitation of single plasmonic modes is witnessed and a total rate enhancement by a factor of up to 4.6 is demonstrated.  相似文献
