We characterize non-finitely generated soluble groups with the maximal condition on non-Baer subgroups and prove that a non-Baer soluble group is a ^ˇCernikov group or it has an infinite properly descending series of non-Baer subgroups.  相似文献

In this note are considered FC groups whose periodic parts can be embedded in direct products of finite groups. It is shown that if the periodic part of an FC group G can be embedded in the direct product of its finite factor groups with respect to the normal subgroups of G whose intersection is the trivial subgroup, then G/Z (G) is a subgroup of a direct product of finite groups. It is also shown that if the periodic part of an FC group G is a group without a center, then G can be embedded in a direct product of finite groups without centers and a torsion-free Abelian group. We investigate the upper $$FC-$$ central series of the unit group of an integral group ring $${\mathbb Z}G$$ of a periodic group G. We prove that $${\mathcal U}={{\mathcal U}}_1({\mathbb Z}G)$$ has $$FC-$$ central height one if and only if the $$FC-$$ hypercenter of $${{\mathcal U}}_1({\mathbb Z}G)$$ is contained in the normalizer of the trivial units. Further, in these conditions, the $$FC-$$ hypercenter of the unit group is non-central if and only if G is a $$Q^{*}-$$ group. Let $$H \vartriangleleft {\mathcal U}, H$$ contained in the normalizer of the trivial units, suppose that either the elements of finite order form a subgroup or H is a polycyclic-by-finite (polycyclic) subgroup, then H is contained in the finite conjugacy center of $${{\mathcal U}}_1({\mathbb Z}G)$$ .  相似文献

Let G be a p-group, a its element of prime order p, and C G (a) a ernikov group. We prove that either G is a ernikov group, or G possesses a non-locally finite section w.r.t. a ernikov subgroup in which a maximal locally finite subgroup containing an image of a is unique. Moreover, it is shown that the set of groups which satisfy the first part of the alternative is countable, while the set of groups which comply with the second is of the power of the continuum for every odd p.  相似文献

A group G of units in a monoid S is called left normal if sG ⊆ Gs for all s ε S. The centralizer Z of G in S is the set of all s ε S with sg=gs for all g ε G. Always l ε Z, and if S has a zero 0, then 0 ε Z. We show that in a compact connected monoid S with zero the centralizer Z of any left normal (closed) group G of units is connected. We study locally nilpotent groups containing subgroups of classc, c>1, and satisfying the weak maximum condition or the weak minimum condition on c-nilpotent subgroups. It is proved that nilpotent groups of this type are minimax and periodic locally nilpotent groups of this type are Chernikov groups. It is also proved that if a group G is either nilpotent or periodic locally nilpotent and if all of its c-nilpotent subgroups are of finite rank, then G is of finite rank. This paper deals with groups satisfying the weak minimality (maximality) condition for normal subgroups and having an ascending series of normal subgroups whose factors are finite or Abelian of finite rank. Locally nilpotent groups in which the centralizer of some finitely generated subgroup has finite rank are studied. It is shown that if G is such a group and F is a finitely generated subgroup with centralizer CG(F) of finite rank, then the centralizer of the image of F in the factor group G/t(G) modulo the periodic part t(G) also has finite rank. The equivalence between oids and semigroups which satisfy a condition involving finite sums is established. Some of the already known results on the structure of Stone-Čech compactifications of discrete semigroups are obtained as immediate consequences. It is also shown that most commutative semigroups contain oids so that oid theory has applications to the Stone-Čech compactifications of many semigroups.  相似文献

We prove that a 1-dimensional continuum carrying a flow without singular points is homeomorphic to the unit circle if its first Čech cohomology group with integer coefficients is isomorphic to ℤ. As an application of this we obtain that an asymptotically stable invariant 1-dimensional continuum of a flow on a locally compact ANR, which does not contain singular points, must be a periodic orbit.  相似文献
