We classify all finite-dimensional connected Hopf algebras with large abelian primitive spaces. We show that they are Hopf algebra extensions of restricted enveloping algebras of certain restricted Lie algebras. For any abelian matched pair associated with these extensions, we construct a cohomology group, which classifies all the extensions up to equivalence. Moreover, we present a 1–1 correspondence between the isomorphism classes and a group quotient of the cohomology group deleting some exceptional points, where the group respects the automorphisms of the abelian matched pair and the exceptional points represent those restricted Lie algebra extensions.  相似文献

We prove that a group, which is the extension of a nilpotent torsion group by a soluble group of finite exponent and all of whose subgroups are subnormal, is nilpotent. The problem can be easily reduced to the investigation of extensions of abelian torsion groups by elementary abelian p-groups with all subgroups of these extensions subnormal.  相似文献

Suppose F is a perfect field of characteristic p 0 and G is an abelian group whose torsion subgroup Gt is p-primary. If Gt is totally projective of countable length, it is shown that G is a direct factor of the group of normalized units V(G) of the group algebra F(G) and that V(G)/G is a totally projective p-group. The proof of this result is based on a new characterization of the class of totally projective p-groups of countable length. Li addition, the same result regarding V(G) is obtained if G has countable torsion-free rank and Gt is totally projective of length less than ω1 + ω0 . Finally, these results are applied to the question of whether the existence of an F-i pomorphism F(G) ? F(H) for some group H implies that G?H.  相似文献

Let G he a finite group and V a faithful, finite dimensional GF 2 G-module. We call E ≤G quadratic,if[V,E,E]=1 and |E|≥4, and we say V is quadratic, if G is generated by its quadratic subgroups. It is an easy exercise, but important for what follows, to show that E has to be elementary abelian. Elementary abelian groups acting quadratically come up quite naturally in weak-closure arguments, pushing-up problems and in problems dealing with parabolic systems. As a successor of [MS] we treat the case that G is a sporadic simple group or an alternating group.  相似文献

Our main result states that for a commutative ring R and a finite abelian group G the following conditions are equivalent: (a) Gal(R,G)=Gal (R[X],G), i.e. every commutative Galois extension of R[X]with Galois group G is extended from R. (b) The order of G is a non-zero-divisor in R/Nil(R). The proof uses lifting properties of Galois extensions over Hensel pairs and a Milnor-type patching theorem.  相似文献

A power automorphism θ of a group G is said to be pre-fixed-point-free if CG(θ) is an elementary abelian 2-group. G is called an E-group if G has a pre-fixed-point-free power automorphism. In this paper, finite E-groups, together with all their pre-fixed-point-free power automorphisms, are completely determined. Moreover, a characteristic of finite abelian groups is given, which explains some known facts concerning power automorphisms.  相似文献

Ramification invariants are necessary, but not in general sufficient, to determine the Galois module structure of ideals in local number field extensions. This insufficiency is associated with elementary abelian extensions, where one can define a refined ramification filtration—one with more ramification breaks [Nigel P. Byott, G. Griffith Elder, New ramification breaks and additive Galois structure, J. Théor. Nombres Bordeaux 17 (1) (2005) 87-107]. The first refined break number comes from the usual ramification filtration and is therefore necessary. Here we study the second refined break number.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group with.O2(G) = 1. If V is a faithful GF(2)G-module, then 𝔓 (G,V) is the set of elementary abelian 2-subgroups A of G with m(A) ? m(V/CV(A)). A pair G,V is an extreme pair if G = < 𝔓 (G,V)>. Such pairs often appears in analysis of 2-local subgroups of characteristic 2-type groups. We study the Cohn purity in an abelian group regarded as a left module over its endomorphism ring. We prove that if a finite rank torsion-free abelian group G is quasiequal to a direct sum in which all summands are purely simple modules over their endomorphism rings then the module E(G) G is purely semisimple. This theorem makes it possible to construct abelian groups of any finite rank which are purely semisimple over their endomorphism rings and it reduces the problem of endopure semisimplicity of abelian groups to the same problem in the class of strongly indecomposable abelian groups.  相似文献

We discuss faithfully flat abelian groups in conjunction with the following: A class C of abelian groups with full A-socle is A-balanced closed if it is closed with respect to finite direct sums and subgroups with full A-socle, ker ? ε C for all ? ε Horn (G, H) and G, H ε C, and A is projective with respect to all exact sequences of elements of C. A self-small group A admits an A-balanced closed class C which contains ⊕IA for all index-sets I exactly if it is faithfully flat as an E(A)-module. We show that Corner's as well as Dugas' and Göbel's realization theorems yield abelian groups that are faithfully flat as E(A)-modules. Several applications of these results are given, some of which yield an answer to part a of Fuchs' Problem 84 and a partial respond to part c of the same problem.  相似文献

Green [B. Green, A Szemerédi-type regularity lemma in abelian groups, with applications, Geom. Funct. Anal. 15 (2005) 340-376] established a version of the Szemerédi Regularity Lemma for abelian groups and derived the Removal Lemma for abelian groups as its corollary. Let W(G) be the W-algebra generated by the left regular representation of a discrete group G. We discuss the relationship between minimal central idempotents of W(G) and certain positiv definit functions on G. As a main result we get a characterisation of those groups G for which W(G)I {O} and W(G)II is a direct product of factors. If one includes the case W(G)II={O} these are precisely finite extensions of groups H, where H is abelian or nilpotent of class 2 with finite center and commutatorsubgroup of prime order.  相似文献

J. Dixmier asked in 1950 whether every non-amenable group admits uniformly bounded representations that cannot be unitarised. We provide such representations upon passing to extensions by abelian groups. This gives a new characterisation of amenability. Furthermore, we deduce that certain Burnside groups are non-unitarisable, answering a question raised by G. Pisier.  相似文献
