Abstract

The optical properties of nominally pure and Er3+- or Pr3+ -doped yttria-stabilized zirconia single crystals were investigated under UV light excitation. In the excitation spectra of both types of doped crystals, a broad UV band is observed. Under excitation with light of different wavelengths inside this band, the luminescence features of the doped crystals are different. YSZ: Pr3+ samples exhibit the characteristic 4f → 4f emission of the Pr3+ ions. In YSZ: Er3+ crystals, both the Er3+ ion and the intrinsic luminescence are observed. Host to Er3+ ion radiative energy-transfer is also demonstrated. No dependence of the transfer process with the excitation wavelength was found. These results suggest that the UV band in Er3+ -doped crystals is associated with the lattice-dopant ion interaction rather than with the 4f5d interconfigurational band of the Er3? ions.  相似文献

高温熔制Er3+,Yb3+离子掺杂CaO-Y2O3-Al2O3-SiO2系统玻璃,并进行微晶化处理,研究了微晶玻璃中Er3+离子的发光及上转换发光特性,分析了微晶玻璃上转换发光机理.结果表明:原始玻璃经热处理得到了Er,Yb:YAG微晶玻璃,微晶玻璃中Er3+离子在室温下4I13/24I15/2跃迁产生横盖1450—1650nm区间的超宽带荧光,荧光半高宽达180nm,这可能由于YAG微晶相中Er3+离子与玻璃相中残留Er3+离子的共同发光;Er3+与Yb3+离子局域基质声子能量的降低使微晶玻璃Er3+离子上转换发光强度与原始玻璃相比显著提高,绿光、红光上转换荧光强度比玻璃样品分别增强约7和3倍;微晶化后Er3+,Yb3+离子局域环境发生变化也导致微晶玻璃中Er3+离子绿光、红光上转换发光相对强度发生变化. 关键词: 铒 镱:钇铝石榴石 微晶玻璃 荧光光谱  相似文献

The Er^3+/Yb^3+ co-doped TeO2-Nb2O5-Li2O glass is prepared by conventional melting method, and its upconversion spectra are measured. The intense green upconversion luminescence upon excitation with a 976 nm laser diode is observed with the naked eyes. The dependence of luminescence intensity on the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is discussed in detail, and the relationship between the ratio of green luminescence intensity to red luminescence intensity and the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is also studied, The luminescence intensity increases with the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ increasing. The ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ plays a more important role than the concentration of Er^3+ in determining the upconversion luminescence intensity. The ratio of green luminescence intensity to red luminescence intensity reaches a maximum when ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is 3. Thus the glass could be one of the potential candidates for LD pumping solid-state lasers.  相似文献

Infrared-to-visible upconversion luminescence spectra are investigated in Li+ and Er3+ codoped Y2O3 nanocrystals. By introducing Li+ ions, the upconverted emission intensity is found to be greatly enhanced when compared with the nanocrystals with the Li+ absent. The cause of the enhancement is believed to be the modification of the local symmetry of the Er3+ ion, which increases the intra-4f transitions of Er3+ ion, and the homogeneous distribution of Er3+. While in some other Er3+ doped oxides, such as ZnO, ZrO2, etc., the upconversion intensity of Er3+ ions could also be greatly increased by doping Li+.  相似文献

Er3+-doped oxyfluorotellurite glasses with four different concentrations of Er3+ ions have been prepared and investigated their thermal, optical absorption, excitation and luminescence properties. From the DSC spectra, glass transition and onset of crystallization temperatures have been found. Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters have been derived from the absorption spectrum and are in turn used to calculate radiative properties for the important luminescent levels of Er3+ ions. The calculated radiative properties are comparable to experimental values. The glasses show intense green and weak red emission under normal excitation with 451 nm. The decrease in emission intensities and lifetimes of the 4S3/2 level with concentration of Er3+ ions has been explained as due to energy transfer processes between Er3+ ions. The stimulated emission cross-sections and quantum efficiencies of the green and infrared emissions have been determined. The results indicate that the glasses may be suitable for use as a laser medium in making solid-state green laser by normal pumping route and as laser medium and optical amplifier in the 1.5 μm region.  相似文献

The visible upconversion and near-infrared luminescence of Er3+ ions in germanate glass ceramics containing GaF2 nanocrystals are investigated. The nanocrystals are characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy, showing their mean sizes less than 20hm. High transmittance of the glass ceramics is displayed by absorption spectra. The upconversion luminescence intensity in the glass ceramics increases significantly with increasing temperature. Both the shifts of the XRD peaks and the Stark-split shown in the luminescence spectra indicate the entrance of the Er3+ ions into the CaF2 nanocrystals, which is confirmed by a Judd-Ofelt analysis. Possible mechanisms of the upconversion luminescence are analyzed.  相似文献

A series of tungsten-tellurite glasses activated with different concentrations (0–1.5 mol %) of Er3+ has been synthesized. The structural properties of the best luminescent sample and the optical properties of its Er3+ ions, are studied both immediate after its preparation as well as after its ageing. On ageing the glass suffers structural reorganization and generates Er2WO6—nanocrystals in the matrix, which greatly enhances the normal and upconversion green luminescence efficiency of Er3+. The nanocrystal aided enhancement of normal and upconversion luminescence of Er3+ of the glass has been attributed to the crystal field effects of the new environment of Er3+ in the nanocrystals. A phenomenon of preferential enhancement of red upconversion luminescence at the cost of green upconversion luminescence of Er3+ at its higher concentrations in the glass has been observed and the related photo-physics is proposed. The material shows the prospect of being used as NIR solar concentrator.  相似文献

Er3+/Ce3+ codoped bismuth-germanate glasses with the composition of Bi2O3-GeO2-Ga2O3-Na2O were prepared by the conventional melt-quenching method. The absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra, upconversion emission and lifetimes of Er3+ ions were measured, and the effects of Ce3+-doping on the spectroscopic properties of 1.53 μm band fluorescence of Er3+ ion were investigated based on the analysis of energy transfer between Er3+ and Ce3+ ions. The results indicate that the 1.53 μm band fluorescence intensity can be improved evidently with the Ce3+-doped concentration under the excitation of 980 nm. Meanwhile, the theoretical simulation based on the population rate equation and light power propagation equation indicates that the C + L band signal gain can also be improved dramatically by introducing Ce3+ ions into the Er3+-doped bismuth-germanate glass fiber. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce Ce3+ ions when Er3+-doped bismuth-germanate glass with low phonon energy is applied to the 1.53 μm band broad Er3+-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA).  相似文献

The effect of Er3+ concentration on the Er3+?:?4I13/2?→?4I15/2 emission in tellurite glasses has been investigated. The full width at half-maximum increased with the increasing concentration of Er2O3 in tellurite glasses. The effect of local structure of Er3+ ions and related spectroscopic changes are taken into account to explain the line broadening. Inhomogeneous broadening due to the distribution of crystal field around the Er3+ ion has little effect on the absorption spectra. Highly efficient energy trapping between the ions was identified from the time-resolved analysis of the fluorescence decay and is found to be responsible for the extended lifetime at intermediate concentrations of Er3+ ions in tellurite glasses. The effect of temperature on spectral line shape has been determined for analysing the contribution of Boltzmann population on line broadening. The increased population of the overlying Stark sublevels at the 4I13/2 energy level via direct pumping and/or interaction between Er3+ ions were also found to be significant for enhancement in spectral line shape at higher concentrations of Er3+ ions in tellurite glasses. It was observed that at higher concentrations of Er3+ ions in glass also enhance the local symmetry of ions, which is apparent from the absorption band of the Er3+?:?4I15/2?→?2H11/2 hypersensitive transition.  相似文献

Mechanisms underlying the effect of Tb3+ and Eu3+ ions on the efficiency of 1.54-μm luminescence of Er3+ ions in ZBLAN glass were studied. The cross-relaxation coefficients were measured. The ion-ion interaction channels considered were used to construct coupled balance equations describing the variation in ion level population. The optimum concentrations of the dopants were found. The experimental data obtained and theoretical estimates evidence the possibility of increasing the population of the 4 I 13/2 state of the Er3+ ion, which would enable development of more efficient erbium-based amplifiers in the case of excitation at the wavelength of 0.975 μm.  相似文献

铒掺杂硼酸盐玻璃广泛应用于发光材料中,研究其发光动力学性质对于优化和提高其发光效率具有重要意义. 本文采用传统的熔融淬火法合成了摩尔比为2%的掺铒硼酸盐玻璃,并在低于硼酸盐玻璃转变温度(260 °C)下退火,退火处理后的掺铒硼酸盐玻璃光学性质得到了一定程度的提高. 硼酸盐玻璃未掺杂和掺杂Er3+的热性能采用差示扫描量热法以10 °C/min的速度进行测量. 同时还测量了掺铒硼酸盐玻璃发光机理的吸收光谱、激发光谱、稳态发射光谱、瞬态发射光谱和衰减动力学曲线. 实验结果表明Er3+在不同激发波长下556 nm处发射时具有不同的寿命,在掺铒硼酸盐玻璃中可能存在激发态阱,利用实验数据得到了激发态阱的深度为0.14 eV.  相似文献

The thermal characterization and spectroscopic properties of Er3+-doped 0.6GeO2-(0.4-x)PbO-xPbF2 glasses were investigated experimentally. With the replacement of PbO by PbF2 the thermal stability of glasses is improved and the infrared fluorescence intensity at 1530 nm is increased. The Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters, radiative transition rates, and fluorescence lifetimes of the excited 4I13/2 level of Er3+ ions were calculated from Judd-Ofelt theory. The asymmetric ligand field around Er3+ ions resulted from the incorporation of PbF2 into germanate glasses, broadens the infrared emission spectra at 1530 nm. Upconversion luminescence in the investigated glasses was observed at room temperature under the excitation of 976 nm laser diode. The glass 0.6GeO2-0.3PbO-0.1PbF2 exhibits the maximum upconversion emission intensity, while no frequency upconversion luminescence was observed in the 0.6GeO2-0.4PbO glass. The quadratic dependence of the green and red emissions on excitation power indicates that two-photon absorption contributes to the visible emission under the 976-nm excitation.  相似文献

Er 3+-doped TiO 2-SiO 2 powders are prepared by the sol-gel method,and they are characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM),X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra,and Raman spectra of the samples.It is shown that the TiO 2 nanocrystals are surrounded by an SiO 2 glass matrix.The photoluminescence (PL) spectra are recorded at room temperature.A strong green luminescence and less intense red emission are observed in the samples when they are excited at 325 nm.The intensity of the emission,which is related to the defect states,is strongest at the annealing temperature of 800 C.The PL intensity of Er 3+ ions increases with increasing Ti/Si ratio due to energy transfer between nano-TiO 2 particles and Er 3+ ions.  相似文献

Potassium aluminum phosphate glass activated by trivalent Ti ions was obtained and investigated. Some physicochemical properties of the concentration series prepared, as well as the absorption and luminescence spectra at 293 K, were investigated. The data obtained are indicative of distorted octahedral coordination of Ti3+ ions. The optimal concentration interval for Ti3+ in the glass is proposed: 0.1–1 mol/l, in which the titanium concentration can be varied without violation of the physicotechnical and luminescence-kinetic properties of the glass. As a result, Ti3+ can be optimally used as an activator for phosphors on its basis. In addition, the sensitizing properties of Ti3+ can be used to excite other ions: Ho3+, Er3+, and Yb3+.  相似文献

Tellurite glasses (TeO2–ZnO–Nb2O5) mono-doped Er3+ and co-doped Er3+/Ce3+ have been prepared using the melt-quenching technique. To evaluate the effect of Ce3+ on the structural, thermal stability of glass hosts and fluorescence properties of Er3+, X-ray diffraction patterns, Ftir spectra, differential scanning calorimeter curves, absorption spectra, fluorescence emission spectra, fluorescence lifetimes, up-conversion emission spectra of glass samples were measured and investigated. Using Judd–Ofelt theory, we calculated intensity parameters (Ω2, Ω4 and Ω6), spontaneous emission probabilities, the radiative lifetime, luminescence branching factors and the quantum yield of luminescence for 4I13/2 → 4I15/2 transition. The co-doping with Ce3+ was effective on the suppression of up-conversion emission of Er3+ owing to the phonon-assisted energy transfer: Er3+:4I11/2 + Ce3+:2F5/2 → Er3+:4I13/2 + Ce3+:2F7/2 which contributed the effective enhancement of 1.53 µm fluorescence emission. The change in optical properties with the addition of Ce3+ ions have been discussed and compared with other glasses. Using the Mc Cumber method for the 4I13/2 → 4I15/2 transition, absorption cross-section, calculated emission cross-section, and gain cross-section values support that TZNEr1Ce1 glass is a potential material for developing broad-band and high-gain erbium-doped fiber amplifiers applied for 1.53 µm.  相似文献

We have studied absorption and luminescence spectra of yttrium-aluminum garnets doped with Er3+ and Ce3+ ions, as well as co-doped with Er3++Ce3+ impurity ions. Luminescence of studied crystals was excited by cw laser radiation at the wavelengths 457 and 980 nm. We revealed obvious display of the energy transfer processes occurring in the impurity subsystem of a YAG: Er3++Ce3+ crystal.  相似文献

Er3+–Yb3+ co-doped glasses and glass ceramics containing LaF3 nanocrystals were prepared and their absorption spectra obtained. The Judd–Ofelt parameters Ω t (t?=?2,?4,?6) for f–f transition of Er3+, as well as spontaneous emission probabilities, branching ratios and radiative lifetimes for stimulated emission of each band were determined. Addition of Er3+ and Yb3+ ions into low-phonon energy LaF3 nanocrystals makes the upconversion emission of Er3+–Yb3+ co-doped glass ceramic much stronger than that of Er3+–Yb3+ co-doped glass.  相似文献

The photoluminescence and photoexcitation spectra as well as the luminescence decay kinetics of Er3+ ions in the visible ultraviolet and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) regions have been studied by the method of low-temperature, time-resolved VUV-spectroscopy on excitation by synchrotron radiation. In the VUV spectral region of the luminescence of SrF2:1% Er3+, the 146.5-nm band with a time of decay of less than 0.6 nsec was revealed together with the well-known emission band at 164.3 nm (decay constant in the microsecond range). Its possible nature is discussed. The specific features of the formation of photoexcitation spectra of the f-f and f-d transitions in the Er3+ ion are considered. Competition between the processes of excitation of f-f and d-f luminescence has been revealed.
