This Letter reports on the acceleration of the rate of formation of the boron–oxygen defect in p‐type Czochralski silicon with illumination intensities in excess of 2.1 × 1017 photons/cm2/s. It is observed that increased light intensities greatly enhance the rate of defect formation, without increasing the saturation concentration of the defect. These results suggest a dependence of the defect formation rate upon the total majority carrier concentration. Finally, a method using temperatures up to 475 K and an illumination intensity of 1.68 × 1019 photons/cm2/s is shown to result in near‐complete defect formation within seconds. Certain current operational trafficability models (e.g. SMSP) use soil moisture models which are empirically based and have a relatively coarse time increment. It is proposed that the inclusion of a soil water finite difference model may more realistically represent the detailed soil water flux changes that occur near the surface, and thus provide an improved forecasting capability. Results are present which show the important role evaporation can play in its effect upon rating cone index values, emphasizing the need need to have a dynamic soil water model in trafficability modelling.  相似文献

The paper reviews the practical problems in measuring a turbulent burning velocity that gives the mass rate of burning. These largely centre on identifying an appropriate flame surface to associate with the turbulent burning velocity, u t , and the density of the unburned mixture. Such a flame surface has been identified, in terms of the mean reaction progress variable, $\bar {c}$ , for explosive flame propagation in a fan-stirred bomb. Measurement of $\bar {c}$ makes possible an estimation of the flame surface density, ??, from the relationship ${\it \Sigma} =k\bar {c}\left( {1-\bar {c}} \right)$ . It is shown that in such explosions, mass rates of burning derived from the measured total flame surface area agreed well with those found from the measured turbulent burning velocity. Flamelet considerations identify appropriate dimensionless correlating parameters for u t . As a result, correlations of turbulent burning velocity divided by the effective rms turbulent velocity, are plotted against the turbulent Karlovitz stretch factor, K, for different values of the Markstein number for flame strain rate, Masr. These plots cover a wide range of variables, including pressure and fuels, and are indicative of different regimes of turbulent combustion. At the lower values of K, there is some evidence of increases in u t and k due to high-frequency flame surface wrinkling arising from flame instabilities. These increase as Masr becomes more negative. It is found from the developed value of the mean flame surface density throughout the flame brush that, to a first approximation, an increase in u t for a given mixture is accompanied by a proportional increase in the volume of the brush. The analysis shows that the volume fraction of the turbulent flame brush that is reacting is quite small.  相似文献

The synthesis of four 3,4-di(alkylsulfanyl)benzyl alcohol derivatives is described, in five steps from methyl 3,4-di(hydroxy)benzoate via a Newman–Kwart rearrangement. Incubation of these derivatives in formic acid affords 2,3,7,8,12,13-hexakis(alkylsulfanyl)-10,15-dihydro-5H-tribenzo[a,d,g]cyclononene products, which are hexa-sulfanyl analogues of the well-known supramolecular cavitand host, cyclotriveratrylene (CTV). The yield of this cyclization depends strongly on the alkylsulfanyl substituents present, in the order SMe > SEt ≈ SiPr ? SBn. A crystal structure determination of one of the cyclotrimers shows a mode of self-association that is commonly exhibited by CTV itself.  相似文献

The landscape of synchrotron radiation facilities in Europe is diverse. In addition to the flagship ESRF, several national facilities exist or came into operation recently. In contrast to ESRF, which is financed for use by member countries, access of foreign users to national facilities is not easy. Even if their proposals pass the review process, they can only perform the experiments if funding is allocated to cover not only travel expenses, board and lodging of the experimenters, but also some compensation for the facility's operational costs; this is because national facilities are primarily funded for the home-country's users at that nation's costs.  相似文献

We explored diffraction enhanced imaging (DEI) in both planar and computed tomography (CT) modes for early detection of beta amyloid deposition, a hallmark feature in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Since amyloid plaques precede clinical symptoms by years, their early detection is of great interest. These findings were correlated with results from synchrotron infrared microspectroscopic imaging and X-ray fluorescence microscopy, to determine the secondary structure of the amyloid beta protein and metal concentration in the amyloid plaques, respectively.  相似文献
