Methyl mercaptan (MM) is known as one of the major chemicals of halitosis (bad breath). In this study, a bioelectronic gas sensor (bio-detector) for gaseous MM was developed and was applied to measure halitosis in breath. The bio-detector consisted of a Clark-type dissolved oxygen electrode, a monoamine oxidase type-A (MAO-A) immobilized membrane and a reaction unit that had liquid and gaseous compartments separated by a hydrophobic porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) diaphragm membrane. The tip of the electrode covered with MAO-A membrane was placed into the liquid compartment as touching to the PTFE diaphragm membrane. In order to amplify the bio-detector output, a substrate regeneration cycle caused by coupling the monooxygenase with l-ascorbic acid as reducing reaction with reagent system, was applied. The results of MM vapor measurements showed the calibration range of the bio-detector for MM vapor was from 0.087 to 11.5 ppm (correlation coefficient: 0.993) and included the human sense of smell level 5 (0.2 ppm). The bio-detector had good selectivity being attributed to enzyme specificity was obtained for several substances (trimethyl amine, ammonia, dimethyl sulfide, etc.). The bio-detector was applied for halitosis measurement. Expired gases in five subjects were sampled every hour and the concentrations of MM in the expired gases were monitored. The output of bio-detector showed behaviour of halitosis level changes in a day such as increasing with passage of time and decreasing after eating. 相似文献

The relative reaction rate of five-membered heterocycles with ozone was evaluated. These relative rates were correlated to the highest bond order value in the corresponding ring, calculated by the convenient HMO method. From this correlation, the reactivity of heterocycles with ozone was able to be predicted. Also it was concluded that the predominant product in the ozonolysis of five-membered heterocycles containing an oxygen atom was the corresponding carboxylic acid, while nitrogen heterocycles gave the corresponding amide. 相似文献

A liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization–tandem mass spectrometry‐based method was developed for the identification of the conjugation positions of the monoglucuronides of 25‐hydroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D3] and 24,25‐dihydroxyvitamin D3 [24,25(OH)2D3] in human urine. The method employed derivatization with 4‐(4‐dimethylaminophenyl)‐1,2,4‐triazoline‐3,5‐dione to convert the glucuronides into fragmentable derivatives, which provided useful product ions for identifying the conjugation positions during the MS/MS. The derivatization also enhanced the assay sensitivity and specificity for urine sample analysis. The positional isomeric monoglucuronides, 25(OH)D3‐3‐ and ‐25‐glucuronides, or 24,25(OH)2D3‐3‐, ‐24‐ and ‐25‐glucuronides, were completely separated from each other under the optimized LC conditions. Using this method, the conjugation positions were successfully determined to be the C3 and C24 positions for the glucuronidated 25(OH)D3 and 24,25(OH)2D3, respectively. The 3‐glucuronide was not present for 24,25(OH)2D3, unlike 25(OH)D3, thus we found that selective glucuronidation occurs at the C24‐hydroxy group for 24,25(OH)2D3. 相似文献

A block copolymer composed of a flexible polar poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and a less polar liquid crystalline poly(allene) segments is prepared by the living coordination polymerization of an allene derivative possessing trans‐azobenzene‐containing mesogenic substituent by the use of a π‐allylnickel macroinitiator bearing PEG segment. A compressed polytope is an integral convex polytope any of whose reverse lexicographic initial ideals is squarefree. A sufficient condition for a -polytope to be compressed will be presented. One of its immediate consequences is that the class of compressed -polytopes includes (i) hypersimplices, (ii) order polytopes of finite partially ordered sets, and (iii) stable polytopes of perfect graphs.

In a prototype of an adenine analyser, adenosine and adenine nucleotides were derivatized with a fluorescent reagent, bromoacetaldehyde, after separation on a Hitachi gel No. 3012-N column by high-performance liquid chromatography. The previous analyser was improved by using a shorter reaction coil and by introduction of a Hitachi gel No. 3013-N with 5-microns particles of porous polystyrene-divinylbenzene, and applied to estimate the freshness of porgy. Total amounts of ATP, ADP and AMP in an isolated muscle just after death gradually decreased to 60% of the original amount after 5 h, and the ATP content rapidly decreased to 20% after 1 h. A good correlation was found between the levels of total adenine compounds and the energy charge values obtained from nineteen porgies frozen at a prerigour state. On the other hand, there existed no relationship between total adenine levels and the K values, which were indices for estimating freshness of fish. The analyser will be useful to evaluate the freshness of tissues and cells based on the higher contents of total adenine compounds, especially ATP. 相似文献
