Role of compositional changes on thermal,magnetic,and mechanical properties of Fe-P-C-based amorphous alloys

This work aimed to tune the comprehensive properties of Fe-P-C-based amorphous system through investigating the role of microalloying process on the crystallization behavior,glass forming ability(GFA),soft magnetic features,and mechanical properties.Considering minor addition of elements into the system,it was found that the simultaneous microalloying of Ni and Co leads to the highest GFA,which was due to the optimization of compositional heterogeneity and creation of near-eutectic composition.Moreover,the FeCoNiCuPC amorphous alloy exhibited the best anelastic/viscoplastic behavior under the nanoindentation test,which was owing to the intensified structural fluctuations in the system.However,the improved plasticity by the extra Cu addition comes at the expense of magnetic properties,so that the saturation magnetization of this alloying system is significantly decreased compared to the FeCoPC amorphous alloy with the highest soft magnetic properties.In total,the results indicated that a combination of added elemental constitutes,i.e.,Fe69Co5Ni5Cu1P13C7 composition,provides an optimized state for the comprehensive properties in the alloying system.     

Multiple rogue wave and solitary solutions for the generalized BK equation via Hirota bilinear and SIVP schemes arising in fluid mechanics

The multiple lump solutions method is employed for the purpose of obtaining multiple soliton solutions for the generalized Bogoyavlensky-Konopelchenko(BK) equation. The solutions obtained contain first-order, second-order, and third-order wave solutions. At the critical point,the second-order derivative and Hessian matrix for only one point is investigated, and the lump solution has one maximum value. He's semi-inverse variational principle(SIVP) is also used for the generalized BK equation. Three major cases are studied, based on two different ansatzes using the SIVP. The physical phenomena of the multiple soliton solutions thus obtained are then analyzed and demonstrated in the figures below, using a selection of suitable parameter values.This method should prove extremely useful for further studies of attractive physical phenomena in the fields of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, etc.

Non-polynomial spline method for the solution of two-dimensional linear wave equations with a nonlinear source term

In this paper, two classes of methods are developed for the solution of two space dimensional wave equations with a nonlinear source term. We have used non-polynomial cubic spline function approximations in both space directions. The methods involve some parameters, by suitable choices of the parameters, a new high accuracy three time level scheme of order O(h ⁴ + k ⁴ + τ ² + τ ² h ² + τ ² k ²) has been obtained. Stability analysis of the methods have been carried out. The results of some test problems are included to demonstrate the practical usefulness of the proposed methods. The numerical results for the solution of two dimensional sine-Gordon equation are compared with those already available in literature.     

Enhancement of β-Glucan Biological Activity Using a Modified Acid-Base Extraction Method from Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Beta glucan (β-glucan) has promising bioactive properties. Consequently, the use of β-glucan as a food additive is favored with the dual-purpose potential of increasing the fiber content of food products and enhancing their health properties. Our aim was to evaluate the biological activity of β-glucan (antimicrobial, antitoxic, immunostimulatory, and anticancer) extracted from Saccharomyces cerevisiae using a modified acid-base extraction method. The results demonstrated that a modified acid-base extraction method gives a higher biological efficacy of β-glucan than in the water extraction method. Using 0.5 mg dry weight of acid-base extracted β-glucan (AB extracted) not only succeeded in removing 100% of aflatoxins, but also had a promising antimicrobial activity against multidrug-resistant bacteria, fungi, and yeast, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of 0.39 and 0.19 mg/mL in the case of resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, respectively. In addition, AB extract exhibited a positive immunomodulatory effect, mediated through the high induction of TNFα, IL-6, IFN-γ, and IL-2. Moreover, AB extract showed a greater anticancer effect against A549, MDA-MB-232, and HepG-2 cells compared to WI-38 cells, at high concentrations. By studying the cell death mechanism using flow-cytometry, AB extract was shown to induce apoptotic cell death at higher concentrations, as in the case of MDA-MB-231 and HePG-2 cells. In conclusion, the use of a modified AB for β-glucan from Saccharomyces cerevisiae exerted a promising antimicrobial, immunomodulatory efficacy, and anti-cancer potential. Future research should focus on evaluating β-glucan in various biological systems and elucidating the underlying mechanism of action.     

A new operational vector approach for time-fractional subdiffusion equations of distributed order based on hybrid functions

This research study deals with the numerical solutions of linear and nonlinear time-fractional subdiffusion equations of distributed order. The main aim of our approach is based on the hybrid of block-pulse functions and shifted Legendre polynomials. We produce a novel and exact operational vector for the fractional Riemann–Liouville integral and use it via the Gauss–Legendre quadrature formula and collocation method. Consequently, we reduce the proposed equations to systems of equations. The convergence and error bounds for the new method are investigated. Six problems are tested to confirm the accuracy of the proposed approach. Comparisons between the obtained numerical results and other existing methods are provided. Numerical experiments illustrate the reliability, applicability, and efficiency of the proposed method.
