Study on the pre-chopper in CSNS LEBT   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Physical designing of the pre-chopper in CSNS LEBT is carried out, which includes the deflecting voltage, the length and the width of the deflecting plates, and the gap between the deflecting plates. The most outstanding feature of the design is that both the gap and the width vary with the beam envelope size. So both the requried deflecting voltage and the loaded capacitance are lowered. In order to avoid destruction of the space charge neutralization by the pre-chopper in the whole LEBT, an electron-trapping electrode is arranged to confine the electrostatic field of the pre-chopper to the local area. To examine the reliability of the pre-chopping design in CSNS LEBT, a similar pre-chopping design in ADS RFQ LEBT is set up and an experiment on the pre-chopper is prepared. 3-dimensional simulations are carried out to determine the loaded capacitance and the applied voltage of the electron-trapping electrode.  相似文献

The design of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) low-energy beam transport (LEBT) line, which locates between the ion source and the radio-frequency quadrupole (RFQ), has been completed with the TRACE3D code. The design aims at perfect matching, primary chopping, a small emittance growth and sufficient space for beam diagnostics. The line consists of three solenoids, three vacuum chambers, two steering magnets and a pre-chopper. The total length of LEBT is about 1.74m. This LEBT is designed to transfer 20mA of H-pulsed beam from the ion source to the RFQ. An induction cavity is adopted as the pre-chopper. The electrostatic octupole steerer is discussed as a candidate. A four-quadrant aperture for beam scraping and beam position monitoring is designed.  相似文献

The design requirement and principle of the deflection magnet for Magnetron and Penning H ion source are discussed. It is proved that there exists a maximum emittance for the beam that may be transformed by the magnet into a state with equal Twiss parameters of αry and βry, which is the requisite condition to get a minimum emittance at the entrance of RFQ after transporting by a LEBT with solenoids. The Penning surface plasma source is adopted as the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) H- ion source. The designed energy and beam current of the source are 50 keV and 20 mA, respectively, with a normalized root mean square (norm. rms.) emittance of 0.2 πmm·mrad. The construction of a H- ion source test stand has been completed, and the commissioning of the source is in progress. Stable H- ion beams with energy of 50 keV and current up to 50 mA are attained. Emittance measurement for the H- beam is being prepared.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the design and simulation of a wire scanner for the linac of the CSNS (China Spallation Neutron Source). The wire scanner is used to measure the transverse beam profile and the emittance. The effect of beam energy change upon the mechanical design of the wire scanner must be considered. The simulation results of heat on the two specified wires, tungsten and carbon, by using the finite element method software, ANSYS, are presented. In addition, the effect of wire deformation on the beam profile measurement is qualitatively analyzed, and the signal level of the wire scanner is discussed.  相似文献
