Solving the Stress Problem for a Finite Cylinder by the Schwarz Method with Hybrid Approximations

An axisymmetric elastic problem is solved by a heterogeneous numerical scheme of the alternating Schwarz method based on the finite- and boundary-element methods. The Schwarz method and the modified scheme are compared. A relaxation parameter is used to accelerate the iterative process     

Sorption Behavior of Copper(II) on Freshly Precipitated Aluminum Hydroxide

The isotherms of copper(II) sorption from aqueous solutions on freshly precipitated aluminum hydroxide obtained by hydrolysis of pentahydroxomonochlorodialuminum were studied. The sorption efficiency of copper(II) was studied as influenced by pH. Sorption of copper(II) by two different mechanisms is discussed.     

Sorption Properties of Natural Aluminosilicates (Clay,Loam, Sandy Loam,Zeolite)

Sorption of Ni^{2 +}, Cu^{2 +}, Mn^{2 +}, Fe^{3 +}, and Cr^{3 +} from model solutions with natural sorbents (clay, loam, sandy loam, zeolite) was studied. The optimal conditions of sorption were determined. The effect of pH and electrolytes on the sorption efficiency was studied.     

Lower critical solution temperature and hydrophobic hydration in aqueous polymer solutions

Phase diagrams of aqueous solutions of poly(N-vinyl caprolactam) (PVCL), N-vinyl caprolactam copolymer with vinylamine (3.8 mol%) (CP(VCL-VA)), and poly(N-vinyl propylacetamide) (PVPA) were shown to be binodal curves with lower critical solution temperatures (LCST) in the range 304–313.5 K and critical concentrations in the range of 0.02–0.08 polymer weight fraction. Aqueous solutions of N-vinyl caprolactam copolymer with N-vinyl pyrrolidone (80 mol%) (CP(VCL-VP)) remained homogeneous in the entire region of the liquid state of water. The enthalpy of mixing with water of PVPA and CP(VCL-VP) was negative and the curve was concave over the entire range of composition at 298 and 308 K. The excessive heat capacity and partial heat capacity at infinite dilution of PVPA were positive, proving the hydrophobic character of hydration of this polymer. In contrast, these parameters were negative for CP(VCL-VP), revealing hydrophilic hydration. Hydrophilic hydration was predominant in solutions which were homogeneous over a wide temperature range, whereas hydrophobic hydration predominated in solution of polymers with LCST.     

The elastic anisotropy of permalloy sheet

The elastic anisotropy of Permalloy sheet is described by means of Fourier analysis by a free term and only one second harmonic. Analysis has shown that the rolling texture of Permalloy is formed by four mirror-symmetrical positions of the crystallites in which the (135) plane lies in the rolling plane and the direction with the indices [121] lies in the rolling direction.     

Sorption of Water-Soluble Copper(II) Compounds on Clinoptilolite

Copper(II) sorption on clinoptilolite from aqueous solutions with different pH was studied. The results were analyzed using the calculated distribution of water-soluble copper(II) species at different pH. The best conditions of copper(II) sorption on clinoptilolite from aqueous solutions were determined.
