We describe the discovery of novel low cost bifunctional initiators 2,4,7,9‐tetramethyl‐tricyclo[6.2.0.036]deca‐1(8),2,6‐triene‐4,9‐diol (bBCB‐diOH) and 4,9‐dichloro,2,4,7,9‐tetramethyl‐tricyclo[6.2.0.036]deca‐1(8),2,6‐triene (bBCB‐diCl), for living cationic bidirectional polymerization of olefins, for example, isobutylene. bBCB‐diOH was quantitatively synthesized in one step by UV radiation of commercially available diacetyl durene (DAD) and bBCB‐diCl by hydrochlorination of bBCB‐diOH. These molecules, in conjunction with TiCl4 coinitiator, initiate the living polymerization of isobutylene. Livingness was demonstrated by linear conversion versus molecular weight (MW) plots and narrow MW distributions. Polymerizations are slower than those initiated by the universally used “hindered” bifunctional initiator 5‐tert‐butyl‐1,3‐bis(1‐chloro‐1‐methyl)benzene and are suitable for rate studies. Herein, we report the synthesis, by the use of bBCB‐diCl, of relatively low MW (M n < 3000 g mol?1) allyl‐telechelic polyisobutylene (PIB) used for the synthesis of PIB‐based polyurethanes and that of relatively high MW (M n > 30,000) living PIB telechelics for the synthesis of thermoplastic elastomers. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Recent developments in computational chemistry and biology have come together in the “inside‐out” approach to enzyme engineering. Proteins have been designed to catalyze reactions not previously accelerated in nature. Some of these proteins fold and act as catalysts, but the success rate is still low. The achievements and limitations of the current technology are highlighted and contrasted to other protein engineering techniques. On its own, computational “inside‐out” design can lead to the production of catalytically active and selective proteins, but their kinetic performances fall short of natural enzymes. When combined with directed evolution, molecular dynamics simulations, and crowd‐sourced structure‐prediction approaches, however, computational designs can be significantly improved in terms of binding, turnover, and thermal stability.  相似文献

Four new carbazole-oxadiazole derivatives (3a-b, 6a-b) were prepared from the reaction of aromatic aldehydes and carbohydrazides which were synthesized from carbazole aldehydes namely 9-hexyl-9H-carbazole-3-carbaldehyde 1 and 4-(9H-carbazole-9-yl)benzaldehyde 4 and acid hydrazides. The structures of the new derivatives were confirmed by 1H-NMR and FT-IR. The optical properties such as maximum absorption and emission wavelengths (λ; nm), molar extinction coefficients (ε; cm?1 M?1), Stoke’s shifts (ΔλST; nm) and quantum yields (?F), of the carbazole-oxadiazole derivatives were declared in dichloromethane, toluene and tetrahydrofuran solutions.  相似文献

This article mainly concerns the synthesis of novel PD5/PDMS conetworks by the copolymerization of cyclic D5H and linear HO? PDMS? OH units, and the characterization of the product by DMTA, DSC, and TGA. The ultimate properties of the conetworks may be controlled by varying the relative composition of D5H and PDMS components. DMTA and DSC thermograms indicate compatibility between the PD5 and PDMS domains. Understanding of the polymer chemical transformations involved in conetwork formation combined with an analysis of DMTA and DSC thermograms led to a proposition of the microarchitecture of PD5/PDMS conetworks. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new heterogeneous catalyst composed of copper and nickel oxide particles supported within charcoal has been developed. It catalyzes cross-couplings that traditionally use palladium, nickel, or copper, including Suzuki-Miyaura reactions, Buchwald-Hartwig aminations, vinylalane alkylations, etherifications of aryl halides, aryl halide reductions, asymmetric conjugate reductions of activated olefins, and azide-alkyne "click" reactions.  相似文献

An attempt was made to study the oxidation of manganese by air in synthetic waters. A series of batch experments were performed at differnet values of concentration, temperature and pH. Unoxidized manganese in the solution was determined by formaldoxime spectrometric method. Results of these studies indicated that the air oxidation of manganese soluble in water can be effectively performed in basic media and that oxidation yield increasedwith an increase in pH and concentration. The yield was very high in the presence of manganese dioxide, sepiolite or clinoptilolite in solution and, the oxidation was almost completed especially at high values of pH and concentration. The reaction was found to be first order with respect to Mn2+ with a very low activation energy. A yield of 62% was obtained for the air oxidation of wastewater taken from the treatment plant of Corum Municipality.  相似文献

In this study, the origins of diastereoselectivity in the hydrogen bonding assisted Diels-Alder reactions of chiral dienes with achiral dienophiles have been investigated with density functional methods. The distortion/interaction model has been applied to shed light on the origins of selectivity. C9-Substituted chiral anthracene templates (R = (CH(3))(OCH(3))(H), R = (CH(3))(OH)(H), R = (CH(3))(CH(2)CH(3))(H) and R = (-CH(2)-C(CH(3))(OCH(3))(H)) are used to rationalize the role of a stereogenic center and H-bonding on the product distribution ratio. Even though hydrogen bonding increases the reactivity of the diene, the stereoselectivity is reduced because of the hydrogen bonding capacity of both diastereomeric transition states. The interaction energies of the studied anthracene templates with N-methyl maleimide at the transition state correlate linearly with an increase in reactivity. The selectivity is determined by both favorable distortion and interaction energies. The π-facial selectivity induced by the presence of a chiral auxiliary in 1-substituted 1,3-pentadienes (R1 = (CH(3))(OCH(3))(H) and R1 = (CH(3))(OH)(H)) has also been modeled in order to rationalize the role of the stereogenic center and H-bonding on the stereoselectivity of an aliphatic diene. In both parts, the product distribution ratios calculated from Boltzmann distributions based on Gibbs free energies are in reasonable agreement with the experimental results. Finally the role of OH-substituted five-membered pyrrolidine on C9 of anthracene is investigated since the successful usage of the conformationally rigid pyrrolidines in asymmetric synthesis is well known. Overall, both in the acyclic system and in anthracene, the facilitation due to H-bonding is reflected in the interaction energies: the higher the difference in interaction energies in the transition structures of the two diastereomers, the more selective the H-bonding assisted Diels-Alder reaction is.  相似文献

Two analogues of diphenylethene carrying phenanthrene (1-(9-phenanthryl)-1-phenylethene (PPE)) and anthracene (1-(2-anthryl)-1-phenylethene (APE)) units were used in radical polymerization of styrene (St) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) at 80 °C using AIBN as initiator. Because of the nature of the polymerization, the resulting polymers possess the corresponding chromophoric groups. Using the methodology of a DPE system, these labelled polymers were further used for the synthesis of block copolymers. In this way poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(styrene) and poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(acrylonitrile) with molar masses of 60,000-90,000 g/mol were synthesized. Incorporation of the chromophoric groups into both homo- and block copolymers was confirmed by spectral measurements.  相似文献
