A high-resolution spectroscopic and emission-decay investigation of highly concentrated Nd:YAG single crystals and ceramics shows that the state of the Nd3+ ions and their interaction in these materials are similar and can be used for construction of efficient solid-state lasers directly pumped in the emitting level. This possibility is demonstrated by continuous-wave emission of concentrated Nd:YAG crystals with up to 3.5 at. % Nd and ceramics with up to 6.8 at. % Nd under resonant 885-nm end pump. This work deals with the low-temperature preparation of optically active silica-based materials. Tb3+-doped silica monolithic gels were elaborated at 40 °C. Tb3+–SSA-doped SiO2–TiO2 thin films were deposited by an original sol–gel approach, the aerosol–gel process, and heat-treated at 150 °C. Organic complexation of terbium ions was used to improve the active properties of doped silica gels and thin-film samples. Spectroscopic characterisations are reported for these samples. A compact and efficient diode-pumped intracavity-frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser is demonstrated with a flat–flat cavity design. With a 1.3 at. % Nd3+-doped GdVO4 crystal and pumped at the weak-absorption peak of 806 nm, the second-harmonic output power at 532 nm was measured to be 1.95 W at an incident pump power of 8.4 W, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 23.2%. The output characteristic at the fundamental wavelength of 1.063 μm was investigated with two different pump wavelengths. A new disordered garnet single crystal, calcium lithium tantalum gallium garnet (CLTGG) was grown by the Czochralski method. The lattice parameter of the crystal has been determined to be a=12.508±0.001 Å by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD). The melting point of CLTGG was measured to be 1548 °C. The crystal possesses a wide transmission range from the ultraviolet to infrared, which is advantageous for applications as a laser host material. The refractive indices were also measured by the V-prism method.  相似文献

Laser dyes such as pyrromethene 567 (PM567), perylene red (P-red) and coumarin 540A (C540A) were doped into zirconia-organically modified silicate (ORMOSIL) materials prepared by low temperature sol-gel technique. Narrow line-width distributed feedback (DFB) laser actions were induced in the PM567 and/or P-red doped sol-gel planar waveguide. Tuning of the output wavelength was achieved by varying the period of the gain modulation generated by a nanosecond Nd:YAG laser at 532 nm. Compared with those of PM567 and P-red solely doped thin films, tuning range of C540A, PM567 and P-red co-doped sol-gel planar waveguide was greatly extended, from 564.5 nm to 635.1 nm.  相似文献

Detailed spectra of the excited-state absorption and the stimulated-emission cross-sections of Er3+ -doped Y3Al5O12, YAlO3, LiYF4, and KYF4 crystals are analyzed in the infrared wavelength regions from 700 to 2100 nm. The spectra were measured with a pump and probe technique employing a double modulation scheme. For Er (2%): Y3Al5O12 also the stimulated emission at 3 µm and the reabsorption due to excited-state absorption from the lower laser level are investigated.  相似文献

We present the studies of nonlinear refraction and nonlinear absorption in promising crystals which are extensively used in Raman lasers or as solid-state laser host materials: Ba(NO3)2, KGW, KYW, and KYbW. The single-beam z-scan technique with 1 ps laser pulses at 790 and 395 nm has been applied for the study. Nonlinear refraction-index intensity-coefficients and two-photon absorption coefficients have been determined for the crystals. The considerable enhancement of nonlinear refraction is observed in the crystals at 395 nm.  相似文献

We demonstrate optically pumped lasers with active layers of indirect-gap AlGaAs operating up to room temperature. The emission wavelength is 609 nm at 20 K and 639 nm at 300 K, respectively. The laser threshold shows a weak sensitivity on the lattice temperature. The relevant parameters of the lectron-hole plasma close to threshold are determined from gain spectroscopy using the variable stripe-length method. We report the first continuous-wave tunable over ∼280 nm around 2.3 μm room-temperature operation of a chemical vapor transport-grown and diffusion-doped Cr2+:ZnS laser, pumped by a Co:MgF2 laser at 1.67 μm and generating over 100 mW of output power at 16% slope efficiency. The self-consistent results of the laser and spectroscopic analysis demonstrate a large potential of this crystal as an active medium for diode-pumped tunable mid-infrared sources.
