Temporal patterns of pesticide inputs to San Francisco Bay were identified and correlated with timing of application and transport mechanism. Fluxes were calculated from measured concentrations and estimated flow. Persistence of the pesticides under typical riverine or estuarine conditions were estimated from laboratory experiments. Simazine was detected most frequently and had the highest flux into the Bay, which could be explained by its continuous use and long half-life. In comparison, diazinon was detected at lower concentrations and had a lower flux which corresponded to its lower use and shorter half-life. The order-of-magnitude lower fluxes of carbofuran and methidathion corresponded to their lower use and expected hydrolysis. Molinate was detected at the highest concentration but its flux was lower than expected, considering its very high use and persistence in the laboratory experiments. Additional loss of molinate is likely to occur from volatilization and photodegradation on the rice fields. Although thiobencarb had the second highest use, it had the lowest flux of the six pesticides, which can be attributed to its loss via hydrolysis, photodegradation, volatilization, and sorption to sediments. Fluxes into San Francisco Bay were equal to or greater than those reported for other estuaries, except for the Gulf of Mexico.  相似文献

The hydrolysis of six selected pesticides has been studied in aqueous solution. Four organophosphorus pesticides (disulfoton, isofenfos, isazofos and profenfos) and two N-methylcarbamate derivatives (oxamyl and ethiofencarb) were selected. Hydrolysis was performed in purified buffered water at different pH in the range 7.0–10.0 (ionic strength?=?2.5?mM, T?=?25°C). At pH?=?8.0, isofenfos and disulfoton (t 1/2?≈?4 years, t 1/2?≈?1 year, resp.) were found to be far more stable than isazofos (t 1/2?≈?5 months), ethiofencarb and profenofos (t 1/2<1 month), themselves more stable than oxamyl (t 1/2?≈?1 day). As expected, a strong dependence on pH was observed for all pesticides: the rate of degradation increased when the pH increased. Degradation products were identified by GC–MS and/or LC–MS. The hydrolysis of methyl bromide with neutral water is performed in the presence and absence of various amines in a batch reactor at different temperatures (50–125 °C). Screening of poly(4-vinylpyridine) as a potential reusable solid amine catalyst showed maximum efficiency. This significant enhancement in efficiency is due to the capture of HBr by solid PVP and remains phase-separated driving the reaction forward. The major advantage of this process is that the polymer can be easily regenerated and reused without loss of activity making it a very effective catalyst for the conversion of methyl halides to methanol and dimethyl ether.  相似文献

The highly efficient selective monohydrolysis of symmetric diesters has been applied to monohydrolysis of several dialkyl malonates and their derivatives. The best conditions apply 0.8-1.2 equiv of aqueous KOH with a co-solvent, THF or acetonitrile, at 0 °C. The procedure is highly practical, yielding the corresponding half-esters in high yields in a straightforward manner, without inducing decarboxylation. It was found that the selectivity tends to become higher with increased hydrophobicity.  相似文献

In recent years, the textile industry must go towards sustainable technologies and developing environmentally safer methods for textiles processing. One way is the processing with enzymatic system, rather than conventional chemical methods. The aim of this work was to investigate the changes induced on nylon 6,6 fiber by enzymatic system using different proteolytic enzymes. Technical measurements were studied including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermal, dyeability, and fastness properties. For this purpose, nylon 6,6 fabrics were first treated separately with different concentrations of four protease enzymes. The dyeing process was then carried out on the treated fabrics with two reactive and acid dyes. The intensity of major peaks in FTIR spectra of the protease treated samples is in favor of chemical changes of the polypeptide functional groups in fabric. Thermal studies also show significant decrease in thermal degradation temperature of the treated polymer. Reactive and acid dyes showed higher dyebath exhaustion on the enzyme treated samples compared to raw material. The results of color measurements showed that the more concentration of enzyme used, the darker the color of dyed sample is. Interesting results were obtained in the studied topic.  相似文献

The effects of plasma functionalized water (PFW) and its combination with ultrasound (UPFW) on the functional and bioactive properties of small yellow croaker protein hydrolysates (SYPHs) produced from three enzymes were investigated. Fluorescence and UV–Vis spectroscopy indicated that SYPHs tended to unfold with increasing intensity and shift in wavelengths to more flexible conformations under PFW and UPFW treatments. Particle size distribution and microstructure analysis revealed that treatments could disrupt aggregation of protein molecules to increase the roughness, specific surface area, and decrease the particle size of peptides during hydrolysis. The partially denatured structure of SYPHs induced by treatments increased the susceptibility of the fish proteins to exogenous enzymes, thereby accelerating the hydrolytic process to yield peptides with improved solubility, decreased emulsifying and foaming properties, and improved enzyme-specific antioxidant properties. The results revealed that the functionality of SYPHs was influenced by the treatment method and the enzyme type employed.  相似文献

 The effect of bromide salts, MBr [M=Na, (CH3)4N, (C2H5)4N, (C4H9)4N, C8H17N(CH3)3], on the first-order rate constant, k 1, of basic hydrolysis of 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene in micelle solutions of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide has been studied. The main results are as follows. The molar ratio concentrations of OH, m S OH, on the micelle surface in the presence of different concentrations of Br ions, were calculated on the basis of the pseudophase ion-exchange model, and there is a linear relation between k 1 and m S OH. The relation between k 1 and the concentrations of various bromides could be presented with a single curve, and the cations of the bromides have little effect on k 1. Under the experimental conditions, there is a linear relation between 1/k 1 and the concentrations of Br; thereby a new method calculating the competition binding constant between OH and Br from dynamic data is proposed. Hair waste in large amount is produced in India from temples and saloons, India alone exported approximately 1 million kg of hair in 2010. Incineration and degradation of waste human hair leads to environmental concerns. The hydrothermal process is a conventional method for the production of hair hydrolysate. The hydrothermal process is carried out at a very high temperature and pressure, which causes the degradation of heat-sensitive essential amino acids, thereby depleting the nutritional value. This work deals with alkaline hydrolysis of human hair using acoustic and hydrodynamic cavitation, and comparison with the conventional method. The optimal operating conditions for highest efficiency was observed, for the hydrolysis of 1 g of sample hairs in 100 mL of solution, at 4:1 (KOH: hair) ratio, soaking time of 24 h, the ultrasonic power density of 600 W dm−3 (20 KHz frequency and input power 200 W) or hydrodynamic cavitation inlet pressure of 4 or 7 bars. Cavitation results in rupture of disulfide linkages in proteins and mechanical effects lead to cleavage of several hydrogen bonds breaking the keratin sheet structure in hair. Breakdown of bonds leads to a decrease in viscosity of the solution. 10% and 6% reduction in viscosity is obtained at optimal conditions for ultrasonic and hydrodynamic cavitation treatment, respectively. FTIR analysis of produced hair hydrolysate confirmed that the disulfide bonds in hair proteins are broken down during cavitation. The amino acid of hair hydrolysate, prepared using cavitation, has a relatively higher digestibility and nutritional value due to the enhancement of amino-acid content, confirmed using amino acid analysis. Cavitation assisted hair hydrolysate has a potential application in agricultural engineering as a fertilizer for improvement of the quality of the soil and land. Cavitation based hair hydrolysate can also be used as an environmentally friendly and economical source of essential amino acids and digestibles for animal or poultry feed.  相似文献
