黏弹性结构振动阻尼等效化方法的讨论

基于能量等效的原则将黏弹性结构振动阻尼等效简化成黏性阻尼模型来处理是工程上常用的方法.本文首先介绍了能量等效法,并提出了一种基于系统特征值相等原则的等效方法;详细讨论并比较了这两种黏性阻尼等效方法所得到的等效系统,指出基于能量、特征值等效的原则实质上分别等价于系统的频率响应函数、频率响应函数幅值的等效性.

Large deviation for the empirical eigenvalue density of truncated Haar unitary matrices

Let U_m be an m×m Haar unitary matrix and U_[m,n] be its n×n truncation. In this paper the large deviation is proven for the empirical eigenvalue density of U_[m,n] as m/n→λ and n→∞. The rate function and the limit distribution are given explicitly. U_[m,n] is the random matrix model of quq, where u is a Haar unitary in a finite von Neumann algebra, q is a certain projection and they are free. The limit distribution coincides with the Brown measure of the operator quq.     

Computation of the eigenvalues of Sturm-Liouville problems with parameter dependent boundary conditions using the regularized sampling method

The purpose in this paper is to compute the eigenvalues of Sturm-Liouville problems with quite general separated boundary conditions nonlinear in the eigenvalue parameter using the regularized sampling method, an improvement on the method based on Shannon sampling theory, which does not involve any multiple integration and provides higher order estimates of the eigenvalues at a very low cost. A few examples shall be presented to illustrate the power of the method and a comparison made with the the exact eigenvalues obtained as squares of the zeros of the exact characteristic functions.

     

Bounds for the Least Laplacian Eigenvalue of a Signed Graph

A signed graph is a graph with a sign attached to each edge. This paper extends some fundamental concepts of the Laplacian matrices from graphs to signed graphs. In particular, the relationships between the least Laplacian eigenvalue and the unbalancedness of a signed graph are investigated.     

Numerical Approximation of the Spectra of Phan-Thien Tanner Liquids

The linear stability of the linear Phan-Thien Tanner (PTT) fluid model is investigated for plane Poiseuille flow. The PTT model involves parameters that can be used to fit shear and extensional data, which makes it suitable for describing both polymer solutions and melts. The base flow is determined using a Chebyshev-tau method. The linear stability equations are also discretized using Chebyshev approximations to furnish a generalized eigenvalue problem. The spectrum is shown to comprise a continuous part and a discrete part. The theoretical and numerical results are validated for the UCM and Oldroyd-B models, which are special cases of the PTT model, by comparing with results in the literature. It is demonstrated that the linear PTT fluid is stable to infinitesimal disturbances with respect to the range of shear-thinning, extensional and elasticity parameters considered. The computational efficiency and accuracy of the numerical method are also investigated.     

On solving energy-dependent partitioned eigenvalue problem by genetic algorithm: The case of real symmetric Hamiltonian matrices

An energy-dependent partitioning scheme is explored for extracting a small number of eigenvalues of a real symmetric matrix with the help of genetic algorithm. The proposed method is tested with matrices of different sizes (30 × 30 to 1000 × 1000). Comparison is made with Löwdin’s strategy for solving the problem. The relative advantages and disadvantages of the GA-based method are analyzed

Highly accurate calculation of radial spheroidal functions

A new method for calculating the radial spheroidal functions of the first kind is proposed for the arguments that are greater than unity in modulus. A well-known representation of these functions is refined and used for this purpose. The constructs and the software implementation proposed in the paper provide an efficient tool for the calculation of the functions with a desired accuracy in a wide range of parameters.
