We study a time-delayed population system with stage structure for the interaction between two species, the adult members of which are in competition. For each of the two species the model incorporates a time delay which represents the time from birth to maturity of that species. The global stability results are established for each equilibrium. The criteria for global convergence to each equilibrium are sharp and involve these delays. By using lower and upper travelling wave solutions, we show that the model has travelling wave solutions that connect the origin and the coexistence equilibrium with speeds greater than the spreading speed of each species in the absence of its rival. 相似文献

The asymmetric travelling salesman problem with replenishment arcs (RATSP), arising from work related to aircraft routing, is a generalisation of the well-known ATSP. In this paper, we introduce a polynomial size mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) formulation for the RATSP, and improve an existing exponential size ILP formulation of Zhu [The aircraft rotation problem, Ph.D. Thesis, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, 1994] by proposing two classes of stronger cuts. We present results that under certain conditions, these two classes of stronger cuts are facet-defining for the RATS polytope, and that ATSP facets can be lifted, to give RATSP facets. We implement our polyhedral findings and develop a Lagrangean relaxation (LR)-based branch-and-bound (BNB) algorithm for the RATSP, and compare this method with solving the polynomial size formulation using ILOG Cplex 9.0, using both randomly generated problems and aircraft routing problems. Finally we compare our methods with the existing method of Boland et al. [The asymmetric traveling salesman problem with replenishment arcs, European J. Oper. Res. 123 (2000) 408-427]. It turns out that both of our methods are much faster than that of Boland et al. [The asymmetric traveling salesman problem with replenishment arcs, European J. Oper. Res. 123 (2000) 408-427], and that the LR-based BNB method is more efficient for problems that resemble the aircraft rotation problems. 相似文献

We perform a bifurcation analysis of a model of Ca2+ wave propagation in the basal region of pancreatic acinar cells. The model we consider was first presented in Sneyd et al. [J. Sneyd, K. Tsaneva-Atanasova, J.I.E. Bruce, S.V. Straub, D.R. Giovannucci, D.I. Yule, A model of calcium waves in pancreatic and parotid acinar cells, Biophys. J. 85 (2003) 1392–1405], where a partial bifurcation analysis was given of the model in the absence of diffusion. We obtain more complete information about bifurcations of the diffusionless model via numerical studies, then analyse the spatially extended model by numerical investigation of the travelling wave equations and direct numerical solution of the model equations. We find solitary waves in the model equations arising from homoclinic bifurcations in the travelling wave equations. The solitary waves exist and appear to be stable for a significant interval of the primary bifurcation parameter (i.e., the concentration of inositol trisphosphate) but are eventually replaced by irregular spatio-temporal behaviour. The homoclinic bifurcations are related to a number of complicated mathematical structures in the travelling wave equations, including an anomalous homoclinic-Hopf bifurcation, heteroclinic bifurcations between an equilibrium and a periodic orbit, and homoclinic bifurcations of periodic orbits. 相似文献

When applying the 2-opt heuristic to the travelling salesman problem, selecting the best improvement at each iteration gives worse results on average than selecting the first improvement, if the initial solution is chosen at random. However, starting with ‘greedy’ or ‘nearest neighbor’ constructive heuristics, the best improvement is better and faster on average. Reasons for this behavior are investigated. It appears to be better to use exchanges introducing into the solution a very small edge and fairly large one, which can easily be removed later, than two small ones which are much harder to remove. 相似文献

By means of computerized symbolic computation and a modified extended tanh-function method the multiple travelling wave solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations is presented and implemented in a computer algebraic system. Applying this method, we consider some of nonlinear partial differential equations of special interest in nanobiosciences and biophysics namely, the transmission line models of microtubules for nano-ionic currents. The nonlinear equations elaborated here are quite original and first proposed in the context of important nanosciences problems related with cell signaling. It could be even of basic importance for explanation of cognitive processes in neurons. As results, we can successfully recover the previously known solitary wave solutions that had been found by other sophisticated methods. The method is straightforward and concise, and it can also be applied to other nonlinear equations in physics. 相似文献

In the 2-period Travelling Salesman Problem some nodes, called double nodes, are visited in both of two periods while the remaining ones, called single nodes, are visited in either one of the periods. In this paper we study the case in which a balance constraint is also introduced. We require that the difference between the number of visited nodes in the two periods must be below a fixed threshold. Moreover, we suppose that distances between nodes are Euclidean. The problem is NP-hard, and exact methods, now available, appear inadequate. Here, we propose three heuristics. Computational experiences and a comparison between the algorithms are also given. 相似文献

We model the evolution of the magnetization in an infinite cylinder by harmonic map heat flow with an additional external field. Using variational methods, we prove the existence of corotationally symmetric travelling wave solutions with a moving vortex. We moreover show that for weak and strong fields the travelling waves connect the original state anti-parallel to the external magnetic field with the totally reversed state in direction of the external field. Our results match numeric simulations. For thicker wires several groups have found a reversal mode where a domain wall with a corotational symmetry and a vortex is propagating through the wire. 相似文献
