A graph is symmetric if its automorphism group acts transitively on the set of arcs of the graph. In this paper, we classify hexavalent symmetric graphs of order $9p$ for each prime $p$.     

Nonmonotone Inexact Newton Method for the Extended Linear Complementarity Problem

This paper presents a nonmonotone inexact Newton-type method for the extended linear complementarity problem (ELCP). We first reformulate the optimization system of the ELCP problem into a system of smoothed equations. Then we solve this system by a nonmonotone inexact Newton-type algorithm. The global convergence is obtained and numerical tests for some classes of ELCP include linear complementarity, horizontal linear complementarity, and generalized linear complementarity problems are also given to show the e?ciency of the proposed algorithm.     

Composite generalized Laguerre spectral method for nonlinear Fokker–Planck equations on the whole line

In this paper, we propose a composite Laguerre spectral method for the nonlinear Fokker–Planck equations modelling the relaxation of fermion and boson gases. A composite Laguerre spectral scheme is constructed. Its convergence is proved. Numerical results show the efficiency of this approach and coincide well with theoretical analysis. Some results on the Laguerre approximation and techniques used in this paper are also applicable to other nonlinear problems on the whole line. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Stability of Relative Equilibria. Part I: Comparison of Four Methods

In this first part of the paper, we review methods for the investigation of stability of relative equilibria of symmetric Hamiltonian systems and explain them by means of the model problem of a rotating pendulum. For this example the modern approaches, known as energy momentum methods are compared with stability assessment by linearization and by the classical method of Routh.     

The Parametrically Forced Pendulum: A Case Study in 1 1/2 Degree of Freedom

This paper is concerned with the global coherent (i.e., non-chaotic) dynamics of the parametrically forced pendulum. The system is studied in a === degree of freedom Hamiltonian setting with two parameters, where a spatio-temporal symmetry is taken into account. Our explorations are restricted to large regions of coherent dynamics in phase space and parameter plane. At any given parameter point we restrict to a bounded subset of phase space, using KAM theory to exclude an infinitely large region with rather trivial dynamics. In the absence of forcing the system is integrable. Analytical and numerical methods are used to study the dynamics in a parameter region away from integrability, where the analytic results of a perturbation analysis of the nearly integrable case are used as a starting point. We organize the dynamics by dividing the parameter plane in fundamental domains, guided by the linearized system at the upper and lower equilibria. Away from integrability some features of the nearly integrable coherent dynamics persist, while new bifurcations arise.
