Palladium‐catalyzed carbonylative cyclization of 3‐bromoallyl alcohols leading to furan‐2(5H)‐ones

3‐Bromoallyl alcohols are carbonylatively cyclized under carbon monoxide pressure in toluene in the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)₂ and PPh₃ along with Na₂CO₃ to give furan‐2(5H)‐ones in good yields. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Diastereoselective Mukaiyama aldol reaction of (N-alkyl) isatins with 2-(trimethylsilyloxy)furan by using lanthanum triflate

An efficient vinylogous Mukaiyama aldol reaction (VMAR) of 2-(trimethylsilyloxy)furan with various (N-alkyl)isatins is described in the presence of lanthanum(III) triflates (5 mol %). The reaction proceeds rapidly and affords the corresponding 3-hydroxy-(5-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran-2-yl)indolin-2-one in high yields with good diastereoselectivities (threo:erythro ratio up to ≤95:5).     

A continuous-flow synthesis of annulated and polysubstituted furans from the reaction of ketones and α-haloketones

A synthesis of di-, tri- and tetra-substituted furans from reaction of the corresponding ketones and α-haloketones with LiHMDS is reported. Reaction under continuous-flow conditions gave increased yields and removed the need for external cooling when compared to the unoptimised batch conditions.     

A new approach to fused furan ring systems and benzofurans: Intramolecular cyclization reactions of unsaturated acyloxy sulfone derivatives

Unsaturated acyloxy sulfones 3 undergo intramolecular cyclization upon deprotonation with LHMDS in THF. Dehydration and double bond isomerization of the products upon exposure to acid, gave the fused ring furans, 4, in good yields. This strategy could be readily adapted to prepare substituted benzofurans 12 from the cyclization reactions of acyloxy sulfones 11 prepared from phenols. Finally, this approach could be successfully modified to access dihydropyrans and benzopyrans.     

Light Diffraction Studies of the Banded Texture in Hydroxypropyl Cellulose

In most liquid crystal polymers when a thin sample is sheared the polymer exhibits a periodic pattern or texture. While this phenomena has been widely noted, a complete and satisfactory explanation is not yet in hand. We present the results of a study of the dynamics of the formation of the banded texture in liquid crystalline polymers after shear. The data were collected by the diffraction of light from the texture. This approach directly provides the key parameters to characterize the texture without the ambiguity that is often involved with microscopy. It was found that the overall nature of the modulation that gives rise to the texture appears to not vary with time except in magnitude. Both thewavelength and the coherence length of the modulation remain fixed. While both shear rate and thickness of the sample have little effect upon the texture, concentration of the polymer has a very large effect.

生物质基呋喃衍生物来源广泛,利用生物糠醛、5-羟甲基糠醛及他们的衍生物选择氢解制备戊二醇、己二醇具有重要的研究价值和意义.根据原料和催化剂体系不同对生物质基呋喃衍生物选择氢解制备高碳二元醇的代表性工作进行了归纳总结,对影响催化剂活性和选择性的关键因素如活性金属、载体、助剂及反应溶剂等进行了分析讨论,对反应可能涉及的路径和机理进行了阐述,并对未来的研究方向和发展趋势作了展望.     

1-(2-苯并呋喃酰基)愈创兰烃薁的合成

在路易斯酸作用下, 以氯乙酰氯为酰基化试剂, 对愈创兰烃薁进行了酰化反应研究, 将氯乙酰化产物与水杨醛在温和反应条件下进行缩合, 以较好的收率、高选择性地得到1-(2-苯并[b]呋喃酰基)兰烃薁类衍生物, 其结构经1H NMR, IR及元素分析等得以证实.     

3,6-二氯哒嗪-金鸡纳生物碱衍生物催化不对称“中断的”Feist-Bénary反应的研究

将3,6-二氯哒嗪-金鸡纳生物碱衍生物用于催化β-二羰基化合物与溴乙酰甲酸乙酯/β-取代的溴乙酰甲酸乙酯的不对称“中断的”Feist-Bénary反应, 得到了较高的化学产率(72%～97%)和最高达93% ee的立体选择性.
