A kinetic method based on the catalytic effect of iodide on the chlorpromazine-bromate reaction is described. The reaction was followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the increase in the absorbance at 525 nm. Under optimal experimental conditions (10(-4)M chlorpromazine hydrochloride, 1.5(itM) phosphoric acid, 5 x 10(-4)M potassium bromate, 40 degrees ), iodide was determined between 5 and 70 ng/ml by the tangent method. The influence of reaction variables, the precision and accuracy of the method and the effect of foreign ions were studied. The procedure was applied to the determination of iodide in iodinated salts and in rat thyroid.  相似文献

A simple and very sensitive kinetic fluorimetric method is reported for the determination of trace amount of thiocyanate. The proposed method is based on the inhibition effect of thiocyanate on oxidation of rhodamine 6G by potassium bromate in sulfuric acid solution. The detection limit for thiocyanate is 1.63 x 10(-6) mmol/l. The linear range of the determination is 4.82 x 10(-6)-4.13 x 10(-5) mmol/l. This method has been used to determine trace thiocyanate in urine and saliva of smokers and non-smokers. The results obtained are satisfactory.  相似文献

A highly sensitive spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of trace amounts of osmium(VIII), based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of carminic acid by hydrogen peroxide. The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in absorbance of carminic acid at 540 nm after 3 min of mixing the reagents. The optimum reaction conditions were 1x10(-4) mol l(-1) carminic acid, 0.013 mol l(-1) hydrogen peroxide and pH 10 at 25 degrees C. By using the recommended procedure, the calibration graph was linear from 0.1 to 1.5 ng ml(-1) of osmium; the detection limit was 0.02 ng ml(-1); the RSD for five replicate determinations of 0.2-1.4 ng ml(-1) was in the range of 1.8-4.7%. The influence of several foreign ions on osmium determination were studied and the effect of interfering ions were removed by extracting osmium into isobuthyl methyl ketone and back extracting into sodium hydroxide solution.  相似文献

A catalytic reaction-rate method is described for the determination of trace amounts of vanadium; the method is based on the vanadium-catalysed oxidation of chromotropic acid by bromate. The reaction was followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the rate of change in absorbance of chromotropic acid at 430 nm. The method is sensitive, rapid and simple, and allows determination of as little as 5 ng of vanadium. Of the many ions examined, iron(III), copper and tungsten(VI) interfered seriously at 100-fold concentrations. The relative standard deviation for 20 ng of vanadium (10 determinations) was 2.5%.  相似文献

A spectrophotometric method has been developed for determination of trace amounts of platinum in glass. The method is based on the extraction of platinum(II) from 1M hydrochloric acid containing 0.2M stannous chloride and 4 x 10(-4)M dithizone onto polyurethane foam, elution with acetone (containing 3% v/v concentrated hydrochloric acid) and measurement of the absorbance of the eluate at 530 nm. Beer's law is obeyed up to 10.0 microg/ml Pt. The minimum platinum level in the eluate that can be determined by this method is 0.1 microg/ml.  相似文献

A catalytic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of nitrite is proposed. In acidic solution, chlorpromazine (CP) is oxidized by nitric acid to form a red compound, which is further oxidized to a colorless compound. The reaction is accelerated by trace amounts of nitrite and can be followed by measuring the absorbance at 525 nm: nitrite ion is regenerated and multiplied by nitric acid. The absorbance of the reaction increased with an increase in the reaction time, reached a maximum and decreased rapidly. Since the time required for the absorbance to reach the maximum decreased with increasing nitrite concentration, this value was used as the measured parameter for the nitrite determination. Under the optimum experimental conditions (2.3 M nitric acid, 1.2 x 10(-5) M CP, 40 degrees C), nitrite can be determined in the range 0-100 microg l(-1). The relative standard deviations (n = 6) are 4.7 and 1.8% for 40 and 100 microg l(-1) nitrite, respectively. The detection limit of this method (3sigma) is 1.2 microg l(-1). This method was successfully applied to a determination of nitrite in natural water samples.  相似文献

A rapid, relatively sensitive, and low-cost method for the determination of water-soluble urea content in dermatological therapy products and cosmetics is proposed using a new spectrophotometric assay with water as the only extraction solvent. Spectrophotometric methods involve addition of a known excess of bromate to urea in an acid medium, followed by the determination of residual bromine and chlorine reacting with methyl orange and measurement of absorbance at 505 nm. The absorbance increases linearly with urea concentration (r = 0.9998). The systems obey Beer's law for 6 - 90 microg ml(-1). The calculated apparent molar absorbance values are found to be 4.537 x 10(3) dm(3) mol(-1) cm(-1) and the Sandell's sensitivity is 0.013 microg cm(-2). The variables affecting the rate of the reaction were investigated. The relative standard deviation for five-replication determination of 60 microg ml(-1) urea was 2.1% and the detection limit of the method is 0.34 ng ml(-1).  相似文献

A simple kinetic spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of osmium. The method is based on the catalytic effect of osmium as osmium tetroxide on the oxidation of gallocyanine by bromate at pH 7. The reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decreasing absorbance of gallocyanine at 620 nm by the fixed-time method. A detection limit of 0.01 ng/ml and linear calibration curve from 0.1 to 100 and from 100 to 1200 ng/ml Os(VIII) is reported. The relative standard deviation for 0.0100 microg/ml Os(VIII) is 0.8% (N = 10). The method is free from most interferences. A flow injection catalytic spectrophotometric method is proposed for the determination of nitrite based on its catalytic effect on the redox reaction between naphthol green B and potassium bromate in phosphoric acid medium. The reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in absorbance of naphthol green B at the maximum absorption wavelength of 722 nm. The detection limit is 0.5 ng cm(-3) in a sample volume of 90 mm(3). Up to 50 samples can be analyzed per hour with a relative precision of ca. 2%. The method is free from most interferences, especially from large amounts of nitrate. The procedure was successfully applied to the determination of trace nitrite in natural waters.  相似文献

The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in absorbance of carminic acid at 490 nm after 3 min of mixing the reagents. The optimum reaction conditions were 1.8×10−1 mol l−1 H2SO4, 3.8×10−3 mol l−1 KBrO3, and 1.2×10−4 mol l−1 carminic acid at 30°C. By using the recommended procedure, the calibration graph was linear from 0.2 to 14 ng ml−1 of nitrite; the detection limit was 0.04 ng ml−1; the R.S.D. for six replicate determinations of 6 ng ml−1 was 1.7%. The method is mostly free from interference, especially from large amounts of nitrate and ammonium ions. The oxidation of Methylene Green by sodium periodate is a slow process. A kinetic method based on the catalytic effect of manganese(II) on this reaction in the presence of 1,10-phenanthroline as activator is described. The reaction is followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in the absorbance of the dye at 620 nm. Under the optimal experimental conditions [4 x 10(-5)M Methylene Green, 0.2M acetate buffer (pH 4), 2 x 10(-3)M 1,10-phenanthroline, 2.5 x 10(-3)M sodium periodate, 35 degrees ], manganese(II) between 0.2 and 30 ng ml is determined by the tangent method. The accuracy of the method and the influence of 44 foreign ions have been studied and an equation for the kinetics of the catalysed reaction is proposed. The procedure has been applied to the determination of manganese in water, milk and beer with excellent results.  相似文献

A kinetic method for the determination of trace nitrite (7 × 10?9–1.2 × 10?6 M) based on its catalytic effect on the reaction between potassium bromate and thionine in strongly acidic media is reported. The reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decreasing colour of thionine at 602 nm by the fixed-time method. At a given time of 5 min at 30°C, the detection limit is 2 × 10?9 M (0.001 absorbance ratio, b = 1 cm) and the relative standard deviation for 1 × 10?6 M nitrite is 2.6% (n = 6). The method is free from most interferences, especially from large amounts of nitrate. The procedure was successfully applied to the determination of trace nitrite in natural water and sausage samples without preconcentration and separation.  相似文献

An indirect colorimetric method is presented for detection of trace amounts of hydroquinone (1), catechol (2) and pyrogallol (3). The reduction of AuCl4(-) to Gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) by these phenolic compounds in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) produced very intense surface plasmon resonance peak of Au-NPs. The plasmon absorbance of Au-NPs allows the quantitative colorimetric detection of the phenolic compounds. The calibration curves derived from the changes in absorbance at lambda = 568 nm were linear with concentration of hydroquinone, catechol and pyrogallol in the range of 7.0 x 10(-7) to 1.0 x 10(-4)M, 6.0 x 10(-6) to 2.0 x 10(-4)M and 6.0 x 10(-7) to 1.0 x 10(-4)M, respectively. The detection limits were 5.3 x 10(-7), 2.5 x 10(-6) and 3.2 x 10(-7)M for the hydroquinone, catechol and pyrogallol, respectively. The method was applied satisfactorily to the determination of phenolic compounds in water samples and pharmaceutical formulations.  相似文献

A kinetic-spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of vanadium(V) is described. It is based on the catalytic action of this ion on the oxidation of 1,4-dihydroxyphthalimide dioxime by bromate, which yields a red-violet product in acidic medium. The reaction is followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the rate of change in absorbance at 500 nm and 30°C. Using several kinetic methods (tangent, fixed-time and fixed-absorbance), vanadium(V) in the range 10–400 ng ml?1 can be determined. The proposed methods are hardly subject to interferences. The tangent method was used for the determination of vanadium in atmospheric particulate matter, human serum and synthetic mixtures. A method for determination of ultratrace amounts (ppq levels) of ruthenium(III) was developed using a copper(II)-phthalocyanine-3,4',4",4"'-tetrasulfonic sodium salt (Cu-PTS) as an indicator in a potassium bromate autocatalytic reaction system. A satisfactory calibration curve of ruthenium(III) ion was obtained by the time measurement in the concentration range of 1 x 10(-13) M to 5 x 10(-12) M with the relative standard deviation (RSD) of 2.8% (n=5). A new kinetic-spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of barbituric acid. The method is based on its inhibition effect on the reaction between hydrochloric acid and bromate. The decolorization of methyl orange by the reaction products was used to monitor the reaction spectrophotometrically at 510 nm. The variable affecting the rate of the reaction was investigated. The method is simple, rapid, relatively sensitive and precise. The limit of detection is 7.9x10(-7) M and calibration rang is 1x10(-6)-6.0x10(-4) M barbituric acid. The linearity range of the calibration graph is depends on bromate concentration. The relative standard deviation of seven replication determination of 5.6x10(-6) M barbituric acid was 1.8%.
